I cant believe this. I waited 6 months and have a whole bundle of marks and stuff to turn in within the rep and yet they have decided to stop the bonus for these rep missions. To be honest this really defeats the object of waiting once every 6 months just to get some extra dil and is starting to make me wonder if playing this game has any rewards.
Be glad when GTA 5 comes out for PC then I can spend my time on robbing banks instead of enjoying STO.
1) We've already been told that's wrong, and the post was originally edited to include that. People misspeak. It happens a lot.
2) Why do people think just because something is done in the past means it'll always be done?
1) Well, the post was pretty well formulated. Especially considering that whoever wrote it must have know about the change... Its a pretty stupid mistake to make... I'd even say its improbable that you'd make such a mistake, unless it's intentional.
2) In my case, I suppose it was the slim hope that Cryptic would have some common sense?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
The part that goes from poor customer service to really, really poor customer service is a pattern I've been noticing when things get unpopular around here.
The torches started coming out a minute after the event went live. A few minutes before that, one of the community managers posted something about Dust to Dust rewards. So they are at the office, unless the blog posts are being uploaded by a bot (which could well be).
They very quickly updated the blog to remove the note about BNPs marks et al not being affected.
Then had Frost wade into the bug forum to break the bad news.
The QA devs can legitimately say "not my fault, not my job" to deflect the flames, and Smirk and Trendy can go into bunker mode until things blow over. If we're really lucky as a community, maybe they (or the mods) will start closing threads in the meantime.
I'm grateful for Borticus and Frost coming in here and giving us facts, but the community managers are not doing their jobs. The fact that the community managers made the mistake, and would have to give a mea culpa if coming in here to answering to the complaints, doesn't change the fact that it is their JOB - not Cryptic QA's, not Systems', to communicate with the playerbase on a day to day basis. Frost and Borticus should only have to talk to us about bugs and systems changes, not general mistakes.
Not to mention that in the real world - the retail world, stores often honour mistakes such as these (advertising laws etc) as a show of goodwill. Especially if it was a product or service that was ALWAYS offered before today, and was explicitly advertised as being business as usual until today.
I can't say I am surprised. For a long time now they've been removing every 'easy' method of getting lots of Dil or even EC fast.
They did the same with bonus marks weekends, back when everyone hoarded mark boxes when they dropped like loot and you could store them in your inventory space. The plan was you hold onto them and open them during the bonus weekend for thousands more marks.
It was considered too much too soon I suppose, so it got the hammer. Same story here.

Believe me. People make stupid mistakes far more often. I mean. This IS a very stupid mistake. But I follow the axiom that "It is far more likely to be incompetence than malice."

Yea... Considering cryptics history, and what I've experienced with my own account, I am not buying it...
It was intentional...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
They simply don't want us to save up marks and elite items for dill weekends. It kinda makes sense, if everyone turns in their stuff only on dill weekends, they could just as well delete the event and give the bonus all the time.
It should also be mentioned that people have been doing this for ages, and everyone with even a slight insight into player behavior would have seen that coming before they ever implemented such an event.
In other words, another example of terrible communication, foresight and editing skills. :P

The reason people are upset is that the dil event, since it was started after they went away from the hourly thing, has always included the marks. People are seeing this as underhanded because it was not on the patch notes AND where it was announced was in a post almost no one ever reads.
The kicker is that the original post stating that the marks would count was edited after the fact.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
I think it will go quite a bit farther. Marks will probably be reduced to 250 dil for 50.
Processors 500. Contraband 20 for 1000.
This next update will nerf doffing into the stone age.
But then we're done! Nothing left for them to come for.
I have between 3000 and 5000 marks of each type across 5 characters. I don't change them all on the dil weekend as I like to keep about 2500 of each in case I really decide I want something.
But now they are worthless to me. I will not change them in. They can sit and rot.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Even if it was a bug, the fact the official announcement didn't include this restriction an now it's been added AFTER the event Go Live is a terrible business decision. You should be honoring your "misprint".
This is only hurting your reputation and giving ammunition to the people who accuse you of lying/cheating/etc. In this case, they are right and you can't possibly spin it any other way.
I literally lost hundreds of thousands of dilithium due to this event.
Literally? Literally I would think you lost the potential for hundreds of thousands. I doubt you logged on after the event started and you dilithium ore balance just magically depleted.

Don't even give me that attitude. Usually, I'm quite respectable, but totally pissed at the moment. You're not making friends now.
I was going to keep logging in to play the omega mini-game and make an upgrade kit or two... I am now rethinking that decision. Like so many others, every nerf and reduction of rewards makes me log in less and less.
Smirk, Borticus, Trendy, and to all other staff of Cryptic.
I know that you guys have said you are not trying to kill the game or to drive players away, but things like this mess do not help your case, and only further serves to damage the relationship between the company and its players.
What has basically happened, is that everyone that was preparing for this event, myself included, have basically been kicked in the nards with steel-toed boots, repeatedly, and then slapped on the ground like we're a mook in a Steven Seagal movie.
Explain the logic behind this, explain the logic in pissing off such a huge chunk of the players, would you? I refuse to believe you guys could not have forseen the firestorm this would result in. I practically need asbestos to even look at the forums right now.
The reason for this? You hit people in their wallets, and you completely shredded one of the primary draws of the weekend. If you are not trying to kill the game, prove it with actions, not words. Do not simply say that you do not have the death of this game as your end goal and then get back to nerfing the things that draw us to the game. All this will do is convince us otherwise.
As a suggestion, I'd say double all the payouts for the weekend across the board as an apology for the weekend, and then leave the queue rewards at 500/1000/1500 dil a pop for the difficulties. Nearly every move that has been done lately has done nothing but generate even worse PR. Please, instead of telling us that you want this game healthy, show us. Reduce the costs on these time gates and dil sinks, make it more alt-friendly and casual friendly like it was when I first joined back in legacy of romulus.
If LoR was your wrath of khan, I must say that DR and the months after it are Star Trek V. There's good bits to be found, but it's far outweighed by the visible stink. I'm sorry for this post, but all I'm offering is brutal honesty and some suggestions to repair the damaged faith of the playerbase. Because right now, it's at an all-time low. Please try to reverse this trend, and do your undiscovered country.

They changed the announcement on the main page @ 10:17am PST to cover their TRIBBLE.

Yes, so they should just leave wrong information up. That makes logical sense
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Disappointing, to say the least.

You're probably saying what a lot of people are thinking.
Neither does the firefox tab of the dev blog that was refreshed prior to the change - right next to a tab refreshed after it...
...#LLAP...
the money i pay to you
and ill make sure that many other players follow this example.

 You didn't do that before?
There's just one type of reaction left when I check the forums for news ->
I'm so glad that I got over STO after more than 2 years of playing it excessively and it feels better with every news/discussion I read.
You know what... I wouldn't be suprised if this is their next goal.
Nothing suprises me anymore.
Lifetime. All T6 ships.
I just nerfed you guys access to my money. And I already managed to nerf other people's wallets in the same way.
Please stop killing this game. I love it, honestly, but you are trying to destroy it bit by bit. Piece by piece. You're loosing players.

Cryptic you should be ashamed at what you are doing.
It's been a bad week for your own PR,methinks you're gonna have to do something spectacular to gain back confidence amongst players.

Big loss of faith in Cryptic here.
Don't think I'm going to buy Zen to get that dilithium in another way!

There's always one further step one can take beyond stopping the money, it's make reviews so everyone knows how bad it is getting.

Wake up Cryptic!
Exactly this happened to a lot of people after the last patch.
