I think Grazerites would come close to space cows even if they're more goat.
The trick, I think, would be convincing CBS that the Grazerites we have seen are VERY OLD (and leaving that as an option) while introducing you, wrinkle-free, furrier Grazerites that are more in the vein of WoW's Taurens.
CBS has signed off on RPG materials before that indicated that only the aged Grazerites are furless and that suggested cow fur patterns for younger ones.
Similarly, you might be able to pull similar tricks with Anticans/Selay for dog and snake people if you suggest that much like real dogs and snakes very grealy by breed and much like Xindi had vast diversity, perhaps Anticans INCLUDE the ones we've seen but also a variety of dog people based on different breeds, with varying levels of dog-iness. Just keeping that ridge and a general concept of a dog style head as the defining characteristics.
you may as well just add the esh'kha on sto, alien cow men, ruthless and mysterious all in one.
not sure if there was ever a race that had dog features that i ever recall in star trek hard canon.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Kzinti aren't exactly feline - Larry Niven isn't quite that lazy. They resemble felines more than anything else from Earth, but then you add in the hairless, whiplike tail, the membranous ears that can fold up like a parasol, and the lattice-structure ribcage, and the resemblance begins to fade. (Add in the fact that kzinti can't climb - Louis discomfited Speaker-To-Animals quite a lot by climbing up a deflated airbag on his disabled flycycle in order to get to safety. Speaker, you see, was raised in the church founded by Kdapt-Preacher, which taught that God had made Man in his image, neatly explaining the outcomes of the various Man-Kzin Wars.)
Yet another nonhumanoid species that could inspire a good template for STO...
Ferasans, we haz them :PAnticans were vaguely canine.
Yeah. And all I'm saying is, you take the existing Anticans and have them as the baseline, the "least canine" looking version of their species, and have varying levels of "more canine" looking Anticans with the canon ones being the least canine representative of the species.
And we could use the character creator to make our own dog breeds.
It doesn't seem fair to dog lovers that there are no playable dog race in the game, and it would drive c-store sales to have them.
I hope they don't put one in, just to spite you personally.

I want an Australian Shepherd captain. That way I can herd other players ships and now and then drop my cloak next to a tactical cube while lifting my one nacelle at it. Anything else is barking up the wrong tree.
there is already a playable dog race in STO. They are called KLINGONS

Also, just for the laughs, let's see how close we can get to creating one of those hippies from Antoniosalieri's picture! Will post my attempt as soon as I next have time to log into the game.
Urgh - I take that back about trying to replicate those hippie costumes. I see now what Antoniosalieri meant! Thought it would be easy to do something pretty close, in the Foundry I could do it. But the in-game costume editor just will not allow the mixing and matching necessary. Can't sem to get the Talaxian tops with the Tholian Robe's skirt, for instance, and can't find the Risian flowers anywhere even with "Show unowned parts" selected. That's what we really need in the costume editor more than anything, I'd say - the parts are all there for far more variety than we can currently do, we just need the restrictions lifted. The Foundry costume editor can do it.
Erdmann, Terry J.; Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion; Pocket Books; 2000; Page 277.
Not playable but maybe one day will be.
I doubt it. After all that's only a book's theory and in no way canon. Hence they had to purchase the rights for that book and I doubt they go through hassle like that again.
Besides, why would they make helmetless breen? They just told us that they won't do Klingon stuff ever again, why should they do Breen stuff then? XD
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^

I have a good friend with a delightful shih tsu, and when I lived in China I had a very close friend in whose company I learned to love the charms of the Pekingese.
If you're going to put a dogs head on a human body and not fall down to the level of the degenerates it should have a round head like an Asian dog and not a snout.
It's a rat... That looks like a dog...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

They're always going on about "men are dogs" and it seems more players like to play female characters than male characters, so... :P
And before you say anything, I'm guilty of it myself. I'd rather look at a female backside when I'm running around the game.
I hope they don't put one in, just to spite you personally.

It doesn't expand FROM canon, it expands THE canon.
It just expands it into a giant blob that no one really likes.
