Infinite Space, no star trek IP
timelines, has IP, closed beta for iphone, bleh
alien domain, has IP, online browser game, TODO: check out
thx additional info
Star Trek: Infinite Space had IP but it stopped production. It had Michael and Denise Okuda working on it but GameForge ran out of money and could not find a publisher willing to buy into the idea. They still hold the license, though. So if someone wanted to give them $20 million they could try again.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

For someone who enjoyed PD and supported (public domain) games for so long in my youth - numbers like $20 million just seem go smacking to me.
PD games gave rise to big hitter studio's like Psygnosis (too many awesome games to list) Team 17 (worms) ect. All done on a shoe string budget but making huge amounts of cash.
I'm probably an old git moaner, but the way the game industry has gone is (to me) quite sad - you have multinational companies like EA who churn out TRIBBLE tittle after TRIBBLE tittle (all costing multi million dollar budgets) - buying up small studios and 'converting' them into cash machines then dropping them like hot potatoes once all the good will towards the franchise has evaporated.
Not really sure what my point is - I pine for the old days.
It is not up to use to approve or disapprove. It is CBS's job to decide if Cryptic is doing right or wrong with the IP. We are the consumers. Our job is to play it or not play it. That is what being a consumer does: it gives us free will to decide where and how we wish to spend our money on a product.
But none of that has anything to do with Secondary Deflectors being a cash grab.
like my vote of no confidence was by me personally not spending a single penny on delta rising because to me personally it wasn't worth a single penny of my money.
in the past however i purchased the lor pack and every romulan ship after that except the dyson ships. to me i like playing romulan even tho i wish it was a different story told of an independent romulan faction.
as you say as a consumer i decide what to part with and what i wont part with.
when i sit back and compare the 2 expansions i certainly feel i got it right with which was worth money and which wasn't. with the exception of the voyager bridge interior for me delta rising hasn't really improved the game and that is a rather sad case of affairs. imo of course.
Politics? Violence? Prayers? What??? And all under a thread title called "bad actor."
Am I the only one who thinks the OP should not drink, or take other mind-altering substances, before posting?

post something substantive you freaking spin monger
appreciate your input, until now (thecosmic1), but you seem to have turned to the dark side
politics violence and prayers are all related. are they not?
How typical of your ilk, you just invalidated your whole argument by speaking to a player in such a way. You discount everyone's opinions if they don't match up with yours.
If it'll help things, I'll move the thread back on topic, assuming I understand what it is.
OP, I would just like to give you some history on what you're calling a "cash grab" with secondary deflectors.
Your join date gives me the impressing that you've been around in the game a bit so you should know what Cryptic announces.
Secondary Deflectors first appeared in the game last anniversary with the introduction of the Dyson Science Destroyers. Between the one we had to grind for (and the ships in the C-store), up until Delta Rising, these were the only ships that had a Secondary Deflector. It took them a year, but finally, secondary deflectors are making their way to other ships.
Now I don't see how it is a cash grab, unless you might be referring to the fact that only new ships come with a secondary deflector already slotted. They do say that we can a common secondary deflector for Energy Credits. Thanks to crafting, we can craft them and they can also be found as loot drops from enemy kills.
I blame (thecosmic1), but he has no database of disaffected cyptic employees, so I just stop
Do you have a database of satisfied or dissatisfied Cryptic employees? What makes you think they are unhappy? You are unhappy with the game so you believe everyone must be?
The difference between you and I is that I know STO is just a game. It is not the "Official Star Trek Game." It is one of many Star Trek games. Both CBS and Cryptic see it as one thing: a way to make money off of the Star Trek IP. CBS vets the game and tells Cryptic what they can add and what they cannot. Cryptic decides how much they want to charge you for those additions.
As a consumer you get to decide if you like the product and wish to use it or not. It does not matter if the product is STO, a new Trek TV series, a Trek model, a Trek shirt, a Trek novel, whatever. All of those products are about making CBS and those companies money. You get to decide whether you wish to spend money on them or not. That is really all there is to it.
You do not like STO? Great! I have only considered it an average game since it Launched. But neither you nor I have the right to wish it would lose its license and just shut down. We can simply stop playing it and, to us, it is as if they shut down. We do not have to make up delusions that the employees working on the game hate the game.
Here is a secret for you. Most Star Trek writers did not love Star Trek. They were hired by producers to write scripts. It is a job, not a life-calling.
Stop acting like STO is a personal insult to you. It is a just product designed to make two corporations - CBS and Cryptic - money. And like any product you can choose to stop consuming it at any time. Coca Cola does not need to go out of business just because you prefer Pepsi. Just stop buying Coke and drink Pepsi.

btw (thecosmic1) , there are real people involved in aspects of game dev. those are the ones referred to in posts back. I take it you have no empathy? or you just a child per your comment. others know wtf happens in real life.

Why do I need empathy for people doing their jobs? They are doing what they love to do: create games. You are the one who decided they are unhappy.
Again, just because you do not like something in the game does not mean everyone does not like it.
I feel your violence, politics, and prayers post coming back up, though.

Looks like the order of the words I had mentioned have been re-arranged.
As far as employees, my personal thoughts were are at post #40. I had referred to those that no longer work , so , respond to that or not (surely, those that work, love it or otherwise). Not sure if there is a point regarding your post.
Regarding the game , I am not sure if I had posted anything about it except the original post. I regret mentioning '2ndary deflector' , but that is past. But, this example is only the latest in the long list of useless upgrades that we will face. My point is, there will be another upgrade just around the corner every day , every week , every month. There will also be crafting updates. These will serve no purpose to the game, except to the top most levels of the companies that supply us with the game. Was there a question?
There are many worse than Adam Sandler. I do not think he qualifies, but will of course submit to beatings. Suggest take a look at minors/majors for scify movie of week. Those that kill themselves to to that, without going full frontal nude, might need investigating.

You want to reference post 40, which you edited and changed several times over an hour? Did you expect everyone to go back and re-read your posts after every single edit? Seriously? Your original post did not have this section:
regarding anyone who is no longer at company, might have some that need help and no longer employed due to politics. locate these now.
You added that over an hour later and changed your original statements. Nice revisionist history.
It servers me right, though. I should known to always quote the whole post so that you can see the changes a poster makes after the fact.

TRIBBLE you game <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics> .
st0 almost got the physics right. too bad you had too many bad people. easily could have been much better.
me personally , i was not involved. though , having been in some other projects, and seeing what happen here, i just say:
please say a prayer for all those that tried really hard but got burned by ****.
If you can find any way to help or reach out to anyone who previously helped, this is the way to work.
regarding anyone who is no longer at company, might have some that need help and no longer employed due to politics. locate these now.
