I'm new to this MMO but I'm getting the sensation that STO is the underdog of cryptics mmo series.. is that why NWN online gets more support due to more members? Please tell me if I'm wrong thanks.
Sort of. NW is the newer game and its community team seem to be a bit more response (strictly according to the evidence you see here, which is the scale of "the problem") but STO gets roughly on-par technical updates and content releases. Champions Online is the underdog.

Actually, Star Trek Online is apparently Cryptic's most successful game. Followed by NW and lastly by CO. It isn't that NW or CO are better games, that's subjective. It simply boils down to those games have better communication teams.

We have no information as to where STO now sits in the PWE hierarchy. The last statement made about it was before NWNs was Launched - where it was stated that STO was PWE's most popular game. It is quite possible that NWNs has surpassed STO - as fantasy-based games traditionally have a much bigger following then SciFi-based games.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
I believe that if there is some kind of after-hours emergency maintenance they usually don't provide much details. If they do, then it is some other employee that makes the announcement. Smirk can't be at the computer if he is asleep.
In a business they have to follow procedures. A dev may not have authority to comment about a patch to the public, that would be the Community Managers job. Granted the CM cannot be on the computer 24/7, they may have some kind of procedure such as another person will be allowed to make that announcement.
Even though it is just a forum, it is a business, and policies and procedures must be followed.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

No, they're not. You can patch, but if you check the server status indicator at top left, it is still showing a red dot.
