Fleet Admiral with no fleet.

talonxvtalonxv Member Posts: 4,257 Arc User
May I say this is BEYOND ASININE.

I mean seriously, it was bad enough being a Vice Admiral with no squadron, or fleet to command. But hit 4 pip(star in our day) admiral, then 5 star FLEET admiral(or admiral of the fleet in our day) and STILL don't have a fleet to command, may I say it's silly if not right stupid.

Can we please promote boffs to Captain, can we PLEASE pick a flag ship, can we please send ships out to do DOFF style missions, and when we call for help when our flagship is beat to hell. can we call in our ships from our small fleet.

Best system to point you at, is basically Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

Come on, gonna give me 5 pips, least let me act like one!

I solve such problems w/ my Photonic Fleet. Sure, it's an imaginary fleet much like having imaginary friends but it works. :P

And stay down! Stupid horse, keeps getting up and doesn't know better.

But seriously, this has been brought up I can't count how many times. What's stupid is letting players go past Captain. Should have stopped there. What's stupid is that Tuvok, who orders me around, is lower rank then I am. What's stupid is we go from a cadet in 2409 to Captain and Admiral ranks in 2409. Need I go on?

yeah ranks are just to high for things we do in game for example why would anyone beyond rank of captain comand his own ship and take maters in his hands and kill and solve problems ?

if u ask me we should have never moved from rank of captain

I brought this up more times than I can count also. I mean we got Kirk from any verse beat.

I mean by this point we should have the power of the glow and be able to beat the Shogun of Harlem on any ground of his choosing.

    Who's the MASTER! Sho'nuff.

Can we please make Captain the top rank? This Admiral bull is a major scar on STO's face.

You have already commanded a fleet comprised of Federation (or Klingong, Romulan), Kazon, Borg, Hierarchy, Hazari, Banthean, Kobali… no other Officer has ever commanded such a diverse fleet in the history of the Federation/Empire… what more do you want?

If you want a *TRUE* Fleet Admiral experience then hand your ship to a captain of your choice, plink yourself behind a desk and start on the new reputation system ‘paperwork’…

I am rather happy that the KDF doesn't have Super Duper General rank... at least Dahar Master can be somewhat appropriate considering.

Well, I think that since an admiral does quite a bit of boring paperwork behind a desk, I think the new grind for Fleet Admirals in STO is fitting. Welcome to the wonders of being a flag officer. :D

    You have a fleet...

It's called Fleet Support 3. You get it from being an Admiral.

After a devastating attack upon the Alpha Quadrant by a species of unknown origin, the combined fleets of the Federation, Klingon and Romulan allied Republic were left in ruin, the very core of the military and exploratory factions destroyed. All semblance of order and structure, along with the living and recorded history of hundreds of billions, wiped out in the blink of an eye. Earth, Qo’nos, New Romulus, gone.

This unknown alien threat then systematically crept through the Beta, Gamma and Delta quadrants, erasing the very existence of known civilizations. Cardassia Prime was first, followed by Bajor and Deep Space Nine. They were not destroyed by any means conceivable. There was no warning. They simply ceased to exist. Despite the hundreds of known worlds with sentient life throughout the galaxy, it is still a finite number in an infinite universe. Life is rare and precious, and it is being extinguished at an alarming rate.

What remains of Starfleet, the Klingon Empire and Romulan Republic, those few that somehow managed to escape the chaos, picked themselves up from the ashes and became one unified force, a ragtag group without rank, without factions, without prejudice. They set out, spreading across the galaxy in search for their unknown aggressor with but a single purpose: to put an end to the slaughter or die trying

    Star Trek: Armageddon.

TRIBBLE being an Admiral...actually you know what? TRIBBLE being a Captain too. I'm gonna wear generic colored Odyssey uniform on my toon, put on some Ensign or Lt pips. Then i'm gonna go stand in front of a bridge console and just like the rest of the NPCs i'm gonna wonder where our Captain is.

I QUIT!!! (not the game just being a captain you cant haz my stuffs)

This may be a rehash, but here goes anyway. On any ship there is only 1 Captain. He may be surrounded by XO's and Commanders, either way, there is only 1 Captain. Maybe what you're asking for, is to have all your Boffs positions be 1 rank below Captain. I'd go for that, Anyone would, that way you could have all four Boff powers active. But it would only add to the "power creep" which is apparently being confused with the term "experience". The whole gameplay would have to be adjusted, so that the critters are more powerful, which is already a difficult and disputed issue. Let the flames rise as the Empire dies. Go Nero, Go!

Ranks shouldn't have 'stopped' with Captain. They should have started and stopped at Captain. Using ranks in such a fashion for the progression system was just stupid and has never made the slightest sense, worse in fact, since now we have the ridiculous excuses needed to justify tossing Lieutenants in full command of starships.

It would have been perfectly expected, sensible, and acceptable to just use regular MMO numerical levelling. Oh no wait, WE DO HAVE THAT, just take the rank nonsense off of it! Could have just called it Reputation or something, to signify how well known you are and why you're being transferred into superior vessels and having the best resources funnelled to you.

Commanding a fleet as a Fleet Admiral was planned but has fallen back in the schedule.

Instead of taking the sensible approach (just make 60 "Admiral" and then leave the fleet command system and "Fleet Admiral" rank for level 70 when "Boffs in space" is ready) they rushed it and have messed everything up.

I'm hoping in future when the cap keeps getting boosted the various admiral ranks are scattered out a bit (then the lower ranks as well, might make the rank jump seem a bit more reasonable in universe).

This is not true. I was stationed on an aircraft carrier and there were several officers onboard with captains rank...however there is only one commanding officer.
Even in Star Trek Spock was a captain during the movies after Kirk got demoted...I think Scotty may have been a captain too.

Yeah, but the commanding officer still isn't going to be an admiral, is the relevant point.

Going by canon this is not true...Admiral Kirk took command of Enterprise and supposedly had a few missions after the events of TMP and after WOK.

Even in TOS Commodore Decker commanded Constellation and that's comparable to admiral rank

And, of course, Admiral Riker had the Galaxy X Enterprise as his ship.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I've said from the beginning that being an admiral in charge of a single ship made no sense (we all know that Kirk was a special situation). I keep hoping that the idea of promoting our BOffs to Captain, and putting them in charge of ships will come about. It would be a great addition to the game to have a strategic combat component.
