Delta Unimatrix Tantalus field Generator? Why Cryptic?

willamsheridanwillamsheridan Member Posts: 1,189 Arc User
Why is the Delta Unimatrix Sets special Ability a Mirror Universe Murder Weapon?

Or will we get another Feature Episode when the Mirror Universe Incursion is over, where the Mirror Universe Forces manage to take over our Galaxy and we pledge allegiance to the Emperor whoever it might be? And then we all get Tantalus Field Generators and just zap enemy ships out of existence, no need for weapons anymore? And the Mirror Universe Iconians are the Good guys and Gaul is the Leader of the Resistance?

I think Cryptic /PWE really needs some people who know their Star Trek

I actually didn't know that and looked it up. Then in that case, since in the Delta Quadrant, I'll say it again on behalf of everyone, where is our ISS Warship Voyager?! But it's only natural considering our exposure to the Terrans at this point we'd adapt their technology, and it's no more immoral to use than any other weaponry which is equally deadly.

Nobody at Cryptic, PWE and CBS (at least anymore) gives a hoot about anything like that. The only thing that's important is use terms and names that somehow are tied to Star Trek, so you get as many people as possible to download and play the game for a day and then move on.

The Warship Voyager did never exist. It was a false Kyrina REconstruction . Or it will be 700 years in the Future. But since we are already again in the Delta Quadrant there is a chance that we will contact the Kyrians again an that future will never happen.

And its not about the Tantalus Field being as Deadly as other weapons. Its about how it works. It erases People from Existance or (other explanation) transport them Back in time AND in another Universe) without anyone noticing. THey will just be gone. Thats a Weapon for Assasins and Terrorists but not a civilized Culture like the Federation, the Romulans or even the Klingons.

Imagine a Terrorist using that weapon on the White House? No Rocket, Bomb ,anything. Just "poof" and the whole building would be empty and until someone goes inside, no one will know it happened

You can deny me all you want, but you cannot deny Warship Voyager. it exists! That future, that ship, all those people, they exist in here, in Star Trek Voyager! Brannon Braga created it! And everyone of you know it, you SEEN it! It's here, you hear what I'm telling you!? You can pulp a story, but you cannot destroy an idea! Don't you understand, that's ancient knowledge. YOU CANNOT DESTROY AN IDEA. That future, Braga created it, and IT'S REAL! Don't you understand?! IT IS REAL! BRANNON CREATED IT, AND IT'S REAL! It's reaal...

Oh I didn't say Warship voyager existed in canon, I've seen that episode more than once. But it certainly could have in the mirror universe. That is up to Cryptic to decide, and they'd be wise to make it so! =^,.,^=

While I agree with you that it was a poor choice in name -- you have noticed I hope that Starfleet (you) in this game have a body count as high as the Everest by now ?

Nice job ruining Cryptic's epic season 10 plot twist where the Mirror Iconians do battle with the Prime Iconians.

Well considering that the real Iconians are supposed to be peaceful, based on what we've seen, it's more likely to see the Primary Iconians get their mess in order, and get the insurgents we are dealing with under control.

Mirror Universe doesn't mean opposite. It seems everyone is ruthless and more or less evil in the MU. Bajoran, feds, Klingons...
So Iconians are bad guys to in the MU. And they have goatees.

Because Picard say they might have been explorers and not conquerors ? It was just an idea, without much proofs. The same way he could have said the same for Vadwaur without meeting them. Destroyed worlds, ability to appear pretty much everywhere real fast using subspace corridors quite similar to the Iconian and their gates, considered as past conquerors, destroyed by an alliance of race,.... they are very similar. And yet Vadwaur are bad guys.

And in any case, Iconians might have been explorers. But how would you react if your worlds were destroyed, your loved ones dead, killed by ignorant people ? Now, imagine what would happen thousands year in the future, when all that's left is hatred for those who did that, hatred that were taught to every generations. Whatever they used to be, they aren't anymore.

No... not because Picard said it, but because of what he said (the point he made), and what we've seen in TNG and DS9...

Also, consider this: Would a galactic empire disappear almost without a trace of it remaining if it was a ruthless killer empire?

No... Despite cryptic and certain writers obscure ideas of the Iconians were, the notion that they were in fact ruthless conquers is just... silly IMO.

The Dauntless did exist. it just wasn´t a starfleet ship. No reason they should not use that Design and the Data from Voyagers scans and maybe even Data provided by Liberated Borg (Arturis and the Dauntless have been assimilated in 2374)

But, as memory alpha states: The warship Voyager was a Kyrian reconstruction of the USS Voyager, based on badly corroded schematics found in the Syrric Ocean.

So it did not exist here and probably not in the Mirror Universe since it was all based on damaged data and who knows when the Kyrians found or will find that Data? Maybe hundred years in the Future

We area at war with the Borg (And Klingons, and Vaadwaur, And Voth, And Undine, And Dominion (some), andTHe Romulan Empire, And the Mirror Universe And so on)

Wow. Or as Picard would say " Can anyone remember when we used to be explorers?"

A War is a War. A war is always useles, never justified. In a War people die, civilians die, soldiers commit war crimes , Rules get Broken . Bot that does not mean that its correct to break these Rules. Cou should always thry to be better than the enemy and not become like him.
    So that was philosophic.

If we use the Tantalus Field now we are not Better than James O`Brien. What will be next? Agony Booths to improve Crew and Starship Performance?

I am 26, been a Star Trek Fan for 20 Years now and there are some things that just should not be, not even in a game as long as its Star Trek.

Fed aligned players can use Tharalon weapons, subspace torpedoes, and generally slaughter everyone in each and every encounter.

Accountants don't get the IP. They do get the revenue though.

In the TV show? I don't think it was fully explained. (looks it up)

Tantalus field all data on what it does to people and where it came from seems to be strictly non-canon. all we know for sure is that the people it was used on were never seen again.
