At 08:00 Cryptic time, The developers already struck 15 mesh points for the prototype of warship voyager. So...This is a big victory for the gamers! This could even make flying intrepid class ships cool again! There is even talk of creation of a Delta Quadrant Mirror Universe lockbox set. Cryptic has lied about giving the original Intrepid a genuine upgrade as it is currently the worst science ship to fly of the U models, and cheated all of the Intrepids out of already having bioneural gel packs as a technology, They have also used lockbox ships to eclipse the effeciency of shows hero ships. But the most damning thing of all, if Cryptic built warship Voyager to stand toe to toe with the science timeships...I think could live with it...and if Cryptic would revamp Intrepids once again I would be thankful. Gecko was right about one thing, endless amounts of purchasable items will preserve the integrity of the Startrek Online universe. So I will learn to live with it...because I can live with it...I can live with it...
For those of you who are saying that the devs don't care about ST, look up the 'Behind The Scenes at Cryptic' videos on STOked - several of them had extensive and impressive bits of ST memorabilia, that many of you would be drooling over. And there's constant references to events from the shows, major and obscure (the big plot twist in DR even involves a one-off race at that)
And anyway, much like our Thalaron generators, the prototype Tantalus field is simple Gameplay And Story Segregation. Our captains truly aren't using these illegal and immoral weapons, nor are they flying anything but their usual faction ships - not as far as the story is concerned anyway. In gameplay, it's all up to you to decide how you play, but it doesn't affect the story in any way.
^It's a common thing to not match up in places, especially in video games, which this is.
And imo, being able to use these things at all doesn't say that they don't care; just the opposite really. But that's just my take
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
What if the Kyrians were mostly correct about the Warship Voyager? What if the backup Doctor in that episode unknowingly traveled through a Mirror Universe portal? Cryptic writers should do a followup on that episode. :P
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
I'll say this. If they ever do get Kate Mulgrew to do some voice work for STO I really hope its for a Mirror event. Imagine it, a portal opens, a fleet of Terran ships floods out, and the hail opens: "This is Admiral Janeway of the I.S.S Voyager..."
And the next sound your hear are sphincter's tightening across the quadrant. XD
I laughed hard when I read this. Would be a fun moment.
Oh I didn't say Warship voyager existed in canon, I've seen that episode more than once. But it certainly could have in the mirror universe. That is up to Cryptic to decide, and they'd be wise to make it so! =^,.,^=
Yeah...because a ship from a alternate timeline 700 years in the future in a alternate universe makes sense? And people complain about the Galaxy Dread being in game...
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
If I am remembering right it did not kill anything. It just phased them out for a few seconds.
Yeah, I recall that one of the Twitch preview sessions showed off the Delta set, and the Tantalus Field was described as temporarily phasing smaller mobs (fighters, mines, targetable torpedoes) out of existence. They don't get destroyed completely, just briefly shoved out of the way.

I remember reading a tribble tooltip that said the same. I'm guessing someone needs to get the set and check. To Tribble!
Edit: On tribble and the tooltip is saying it gets rid of stuff for 5 seconds. Not kill. We are taking tech used by bad people and making it work for good.
Ten EC says people are still going to talk about this and call Starfleet the Terran Empire.

We're not that barbaric. I vote for Disintegration Stations.
