The salad days of STO PvP are over. DR has killed the queues and sent veteran players of all stripes fleeing in disgust. All that's left is a bunch of P2W noobs spamming intel powers and the occasional certified tool (e.g. Istvaan) basking in the resulting power vacuum.

No timing. No strategy. No skill. Just "clicky-clicky" and you're dead - because someone was willing to pay through the nose for the mythical "I-win button."

Seriously, where have all the casual PvP "regulars" gone?

Where's Zero? (my favorite wingman, if a bit judgmental)

Or Hissy/HeHe/HaHa, Jonie and Ivaan/Serena? (my greatest nemeses who later became trusted fleet mates)

Where did Heckler go? (gave me countless tips and sage advice)

Where's Sal? And Tatum? (love the RP...and those "tatum-tots!")

Where's ShakRe/Sayako? (used my FAHCR as his personal punching bag)

Where's Reptile? (a brave warrior, both in and out of the game)

Where's Riccardo/Stark? (yeah, I see you...but I never "see" you)

Sure, I still spot some of you lurking in game...once in a while...when I check my friends list. But the last time I saw a bunch of you together in Ker'rat for some klink-ball-on-fed-ball action? I honestly can't recall.

This is the end, folks - if not of PvP in general, then at least of the glory days that got me hooked in the first place. And like some aging prize fighter, I find myself clinging the memory of how PvP once was, and wondering how it all went so bad so quickly.

Might be time for me to accept that the game has moved on, and that PvP now belongs to the T6 vultures as they pick away at its rotting carcass. :(

100% agree with all you said mate.

gratz to geko for killing pvp in this game
the good times of my Defiant being subbed as soon as i respawned by the kdfball are over, unfortunately.

Now an Intel escort can disable like a Vesta :(, and it's clicky consoles online.
I believe i'm the only one who still uses a T5U (Avenger) without any clickes and only borg and plasmonic as universal consoles.
    good old times.

I still hit the queues, just not with Ric and Stark characters. They're level 60, and queues just won't pop. I've been using my Odyssey on my level 53 sci, at least I get to do some matches. Though most of the times it's a grave. People are using T6 for most of the times, and think they're great because they're using them. Quality of PvP is going downhill, especially when you can outtank five of them while seamlessly keeping your team alive...

Sounds just like the whole of PvP since it went F2P.

Lets be honest, PvP has been growing steadily unplayable since then. People opening their wallets for the latest uber lockbox ship, JHAS, universal consoles. All to get an advantage over those without or those not willing to use whatever means to get a victory.

Each season brought more and more powercreep, with LOR practically destroying any semblance of balance the game had pretended it had.

Come season 9.5 I pretty much gave up PvPing. I got sick of the constant overuse of FBP+TBR, the universal consoles and vapes brought about BO always criting.

I want to go back to the old days, before F2P, before the powercreep. That was the golden age of PvP. Fighting godfather in his fleet escort (patrol escort now), santa claws, zigz, blackjack, the DOB fleet. Even Era has gone. They all had the smarts to jump ship.

I am one of the officers of the fleet and I don't even know who he is referring too, I would kick someone if I actually see them say what he says they posted in zone.
We are a huge fleet though and usually invite fleetless KDF we see in kerrat, some stay and join us on teamspeak and groups, some never communicate and just do their own thing and either stay or eventually leave or whatever. We can't keep track of everyone, but I can say none of our leadership or our usual teamspeak crowd know about this.

winter event is coming up soon, I expect we will see a new breen ship hitting the pvp cues soon

The following leads one to wonder...
We will be making some changes to Carrier Pets (e.g. Peregrine Fighters, To'Duj Fighter, Klingon Bird of Prey Pets, etc.), separation pets (like a Galaxy separated saucer, MVAM Pets, and Tal’Kyr Support craft, etc.), as well as similarly related pets (like the Odyssey Work Bees, consumable device Scorpion Fighters, Gorn Healing Platform Drones, etc.). All these items are leveless items and all these pets were using incorrect data that was causing their HP, shields, damage and healing to be too high. In some cases, the sum of the players pets were far outperforming the player’s ship itself. The HP, shields, damage, healing and related values for these pets are all being reduced to scale more consistently with other player gear.

Pets that are not affected are those that deal damage based on the player, instead of independent data. Changing these pets would have no affect since they are already using player data (e.g. Andorian Wing Cannons, Avenger VATA torpedo, Bio-neural Warhead, etc.).

This change only affects pets, and not the playable versions of any of these ships (e.g. the playable Jem Hadar Attack Ship and Danube Runabout are not affected).

Here is a complete list of all pets that are affected. If a pet is missed, it is probably a mistake. Please let us know, and we will look into it.

    Bleth Choas Fighter
    Danube Runabout
    Delta Flyer
    Fer'Jai Frigate
    Ha'feh Assault Warbird
    Ha'nom Guardian Warbird
    HoH'SuS Bird-of-Prey
    Hull Repair Drone
    Jem'Hadar Attack Ship
    Jem'Hadar Fighter
    Kazon Raider
    Marauding Force Shuttle
    Monbosh Control Craft
    Monbosh Support Craft
    N.X. Aquarius
    Obelisk Swarmer
    Oschu Shuttle
    Peregrine Fighter
    Plesh Brek Frigate
    Power Siphon Drone
    Qulash Frigate
    Romulan Drone Ship
    Scorpion Fighter
    Shield Repair Shuttle
    Shield Repair Unit
    Stalker Fighter
    Starfleet Chevron
    Starfleet Saucer
    Tachyon Drone
    Tal'Kyr Support Craft
    Tholian Mesh Weaver
    Tholian Widow Fighter
    To'Duj Fighter
    Type 8 Shuttle
    Vector Alpha
    Vector Beta
    Vector Gamma
    Voth Heavy Fighter
    Work Bee CMU
    Xindi-Aquatic Mobulai Frigate

Look for this change to go live to Holodeck in about 2-3 weeks.

The casuals like myself were just starting to come back right before DR got released. After it was released, the pay wall mountain we had to climb just to have stuff that would be on par with the cash cows is too steep. Geko has done the unthinkable; he made pvp worse than it already was. It will be another 1-1.5 years before most casuals get their reps maxed, gear upgraded to mark 14, and maybe a few mastery traits if they can afford the t6 ships.

I miss the good old days, not to say I have not at least attempted to adapt, but I definitely miss the old pre DR pvp. All I ever see in kerrat (Granted its not the level 60 kerrat) now are morons like Krapulet who go and spread their idiocy around like herpes.....
I have yet to see roughly 80% of the old community even once in kerrat, not to mention what was left of OPvP has now just degraded into a crummy QQ channel that only actually organizes a synchronized que to get matches started once in a while.
I miss the old pvp'rs going at it and actually backing stuff up, or having actual intelligent conversations or banter.

What's left is a sad husk of what it used to be, and I couldn't agree more with the actual skill to kill someone dropping drastically since DR. I mean for gods sake, I can vape in a qib with beam arrays and ****ty gear, I don't even want to know what a competent pvp'r can do.

The casual right here is just not seeing queues pop. At all. So I de-queue and do different stuff. Which makes me sad, but what can you do... Even with the queues combined, they just pop way less frequently than 6 months ago, it seems.

Well, I'll wait. But having the entire new intel suite completely locked behind a paywall (despite dil exchange shenanigans) does not help, especially where newcomers are concerned.

I also have a mild lack of confidence about nerfing intel powers - I give only a 50-50 shot that Cryptic can effectively tune them for PvP.

Not to mention the fact that Cryptic can and will come up with new specializations - each placed behind a paywall once again.

Also, I have a bad feeling about it being truly diversity. I haven't been able to drop in a match for ages. But what do I see from channels and forums? You can go vape, intel disable, intel strikes, or exotic damage. Not much else. Doesn't seem very diverse, does it?

It's not restricted meta -> diverse selections. That would be good, assuming less paywalling. I see old restricted meta -> new restricted meta. Which is meaningless.

I've already adapted. But I don't like it. I'm being pigeonholed into a certain ship and playstyle that I don't enjoy nearly as much as my old, extremely varied playstyle. I've got multiple builds on my shiny new ship and I'm ready to roll. Played a few arena games with one of my arena builds the other weekend (since that's the only time the queues will pop), got chastised for cheesing, and then emptied the queus- boring. Went to Kerrat and killed some people only to have them leave- boring. Tried to PvP during the weekdays and the queue won't pop for hours- boring.

This is essentially my problem as well.. you are being forced to change your playingstyle and builds towards either countering the new "cheeze" or becomming apart of it.

Removing diversity in a game that was fun *because* of the diversity is whats put the last nail in the coffin for me.

So selecting the latest power that you can buy because it rocks, is being creative and coming up with a new build....lol.

Let's just take the glory that is disables in this stale past meta you describe. remember stun-chaining with PSW? VM being broken, and by design still taking shields offline, so did phaser procs. We've been there with disables. it took cryptic years to address these issue, basically nerfing them to hell. So now we gotta pay up just to do the same dance again. Or get used to only counterplay but not score kills.

they didn't understand the pvp implications of cc back then, and they clearly don't understand them now. So I think people have a right to be upset, we mad a huge step back, with many many paywalls. There was nothing like Rep, Fleet, and Gear grind that we have now.

Also sci only a backup healer, ......lol remember shield stripper builds, broken chroniton mines, 5 man sci/sci teams being banned because of balance concerns?
