It's a fair questions, feds get 4 ships, one of every class and 2 sci vessels. Roms get 2 ships, they honestly should have got a sci vessel, and KDF gets a battlecruiser with battlecloak, instead of the raptor. What gives?
It's not like we're asking for much, in fact, you could save yourself time by making say the B'rel variants at T5u be able to equip intel boffs. I'd shut up then. But by not giving us the ability to have an intel raider, which makes much more sense than an intel battlecruiser, you're gimping the KDF (again).
I'm not really shocked. Disappointed is more like it. A few lines of code, and you could have made a lot of KDF players very happy. Its like you purposefully spit at us, defy logic, and want to make us lose. But we will persevere, we will overcome. Because we are Klingons you honorless peta'Q:mad:
I agree that they're should have been a Intel BoP in the starting DR lineup since Cryptic came out with so much KDF Battle Cruisers (C-store & Fleet) after the game went F2P. the BoP's on the other hand don't have the same treatment with a few end game designs that's capable in the right hands to do alot of damage, but overall they're still slightly statiscally inferior to Escorts/Destroyers in terms of Hull, Shields, 1 Less Weapon Slot, 1 Less BOff Station & Ability and most importantly Speed... which made KDF BoP's Hit & Run tactics against Escorts which have higher speed mod+superior offensive & defensive stats impossible unless the Escort player is incompentant. as for Turn Rate advantage on BoP's, it's already lost due massive TR bonuses on consoles, specializations, traits, reps, etc.
Back to the Intel Ships, i think the Mat'ha would have been a better choice as a Intel Ship, and of course base stats would have been different if the Mat'ha would have been a Intel Ship instead of the Qib. I have no doubts that a Intel BoP, if it had came out when DR launched would sell alot better than the Qib... but right now, we've got the Qib as Intel and the Mat'ha as the basic T6 ship. As for the next KDF Intel ship the BoP's i believe should be first on the list since a end game C-store BoP is overdue, isince it already have a Battle Cloak, i believe the Intel BoP's should have Enhanced Battle Cloaks like the Romulans Warbirds which have BC's on their standard Warbird and their Intel Warbirds have EBC'S. as for future KDF Intel Raptors and Battle Cruisers designs of course they should stick with the BC's
They could always declare the K'vort a intel BoP, or hell even if they made it a T6 BoP that could use a LT intel officer. I'd be dancing around like a little girl. Providing it got 4 tac consoles, and all universal stations like everything else. There was a time when I wouldn't include that, but knowing cryptic they'd give it 5 engi consoles or some bs and only give it a ltcmdr tac or something.
BoPs are THE Klingon ship, but they're pretty much 1 trick ponies in this game, sadly.
Really...if the Klingons were sending a stealth Intelligence ship, what would they send?
One could really make the case that Battlecruisers are what truly define the Klingon military.
However, outside them, the B'Rel has been the most prolific and has had more Star Trek movie appearances than any ship class that wasn't a Constitution-class.
Constitution-class: 6 movies
Excelsior-class: 3 movies (Forgot to include Ent-B in Generations)
Sovereign-class: 4 movies
K'T'Inga-class: 2 movies
B'Rel-class: 5 movies
Galaxy-class: LOL, 1 movie
Yes, the B'Rel has had more movie appearances than even the Sovereign-class.
Anyways, the BOP fits the ideal of what the Intel ships are all about. Stealth, gathering information, hit & run, etc. When it came down to special missions, the Klingons didn't use D-7/K'T'Ingas, Vor'Chas, Negh'Vars. No, it was the simple Bird of Prey.
Of all the ships that General Martok could have chosen to put his flag on as leader of all Klingon forces on the Dominion War front, he chose to lead in a Bird of Prey. Not only during stand up fights, but on deep strikes behind enemy lines.
We have seen Klingon captains use the BOP in other various long ranged, stealthy missions. It fits everything of what the STO Intel lineup is all about.

^This.
And even if they didn't want to release a BoP because they might be considered obsolete in the 25th century, the raptor fits the bill.
I'm left with one conclusion. The devs kicked KDF players in the nuts on purpose. Again. Unless D'Angelo comes out with a nice explanation otherwise, I don't understand why it would have been so damn hard to either 1, make the matha the intel ship with battle cloak, 2: release a BoP with at least a Lt intel slot.
Just started equipping my Phantom and wtf!?!, it has an iTac commander, and a Tac lt commander. Why doesn't my MatHa have the same?
Yeah, I feel like I've been kicked in the nuts, too. And then face slammed into the pavement. And then set on fire. And pissed on.

Yeah I agree they should of had a BoP, but come on brothers. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A USABLE RAPTOR AFTER HOW LONG?
One step at a time here.

and how does it stand up to the tempest?
usable, sure, competitive, i guess.
flagship of its class or "well it keeps up with the fed stuff mostly"?
As in I've seen KDF players face stomp feddie bears in it with the right build. It's a beastly ship.

not doubting that. i have it and even with the mish-mash builds i use its utterly nasty. but so is the tempest. which, afaik, was the first ship known to 2 man nws.
Least we have a KDF ship that capable now. Baby steps man. I've been wanting a drop down bamf Raptor for ages, now we have one. Not as good as the Phantom in Boff seating  but still a damn good raptor that can FIGHT.

Watch TOS, the d7 Battlecruiser was the first and in many ways the definitive Klingon ship. Every design the Empire has fielded since has utilized it's layout, it's as iconic and quintessentially Klingon as the Enterprise shape is to Starfleet. Even the BoP is a derivative of that basic shape. The Klingon Battlecruiser IS THE Klingon ship.
As to the movies, well you can blame budget for that. For plot reasons, Trek III created the BoP because they needed a small ship the half-dozen strong main cast of the Enterprise could run by themselves after stealing it. Ever since then, cheap producers have reused it over and over again because it was an already built model that required no new investment. There was no movie-quality battlecruiser model for them to use, or you'd have seen that one recycled just as often. But hey, cheap! Throw the B'Rel in there whether it makes sense or not, because it's cheaper and the Klingons aren't the flashy center stage badguys they were back in the day.
But make no mistake, the D7 Battlecruiserand her decendants is the Klingon ship that is the heart of the Empire.
Sorry calling BS right there. There was. 3 Battlecruisers used in the Original Star Trek Movie, 3 more used in Star Trek II WoK in the opening scene. One used in Star Trek 6.
BS they didn't have any movie quality Battlecruisers.

Real reason is they probably didn't have any concept art from years ago for a BoP intel ship so they made the Qib pancake instead.
I'm not sore honest...
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
I feel like maybe the reason we don't have a KDF Intel B-o-P is maybe there was some kinda conflict in trying to convert the Universal seats into hybridized Intel officer seats. Maybe some technical nonsense was going on there, I dunno.
And while I think JJ Abrams' team were mental not to have used this, an upsized version of the JJ-verse BoP would also do well as a new generation ship.
I would *like* to think that the BoP is being held off in order to give the Mat'ha a chance to sell. After all, given a chance, I suspect most KDF players would have jumped straight to the BoP over the less-iconic Raptor.

Technically, the guy was right. It's not that they never made them, they just didn't have them available where it would have made sense to have them in the films.
The TWOK scene involving the K'tingas was not new footage. It was (like most of the fx shots early in TWOK) recycled from TMP as a cost saving measure.
For trek 4* and 5 the TMP k'tinga models were being used in the development of TNG, so were unavailable for that period.
IIRC the trek 6 model was a heavily modified TMP k'tinga which they got back from the TNG production crew. I don't think it was ever used again because it was so heavily redressed to be "Qo'nos 1".
From generations onwards CGI was being used a lot more and I don't think they made a CGI model of the k'tinga until '99 or something? After that no trek movie featured k'tingas, though jjtrek 1 did feature it's own KDF BC design that was along the lines of the D7/K'tinga.
*I know, 1985-1986 while TNG didn't start until '87 or so but TNG had been in the works for several years before it made its premi
Too me a kdf battlecruiser would be used more as a hammer to stamp on worlds the KDF wont to conquer while the KDF BoP is more of surgical knife to scout and find a enemys weak point and cut it out.
I dont get why they not made a new BoP for KDF its the only ship i really wonted and its the only thing ill ever spend cash on to get.
Every Intel ships sacrifices 10% hull strength for their intel abilities.
Let's face it, the BoP doesn't have any hull strength to sacrifice.
Overall it makes perfect sense to use a more modern and capable platform such as the vorcha for intel.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I suspect the BOP will be on the way sooner or later. Wait for it.
I am far more upset at the quest/story than the ships because they will FIX the ship problem (eventually, though it might take a year or more).
The story is all wrong ... kdf should ally with the vards not the wimpy whiners. And really ... all the dialog is "let me help you, I am mr friendly the do-gooder from the KDF here to save the freaking day". WHAAA????
Only thing good about it is the vard as an enemy put up a half decent fight.

A BoP. Stealthiest ship, high damage. THey have no use for feddybear space whales.
Exactly. Why would they suddenly deviate from what they've ALWAYS done effectively?
I seriously don't get why there isn't an "Advanced Intelligence" BoP.
But yeah, need more BOP from this century
