Were would I go to check.. haven't really touched guard that much. Wouldn't even know where to look at all that. I just wanna burrow my head in sand... like is this a dream.. so not happy today :(

    -scanning my comp now
-changing every single password I have

Probably not a huge help right now, but my roommates's account was TRIBBLE and Cryptic was able to restore him. All might not be lost. File a ticket ASAP though. His request took over a month.

Your computer is very likely compromised so you really should get on a different computer and update your passwords to all of your accounts, without reusing them, even on your second STO account. Don't reuse passwords. Seriously, don't. And use two step authentication whenever and wherever possible. I could give you a lot of advice but you seem more concerned about your digital goods than what could very likely become much more serious for you. Yes, I have no doubt this represents a fortune to you...but you have done what you can for now on that front and you need to consider the other ways you could get harmed while you are on these forums talking about it. If you did not give your password to anyone, then the person that did this probably has access to a lot more than just this game. I suggest a different computer because if you have a keylogger on your computer, most scans will not reveal this. It is possible Cryptic/PWE could track the goods through accounts, but it really depends on the motivation of the person that did it. And if he's even a little smart, he can very easily cover his tracks. It's hard to know what advice to give you without knowing a lot more than what you've said here (and I'm not asking). I'm just giving you the most basic steps you should be taking right now...get off these forums and secure your online accounts before something truly devastating happens to you. (Sorry if I sound arrogant or alarmist...I am just trying to look out for you.)

You were not TRIBBLE, you don't have a virus or any of that nonsense. Here's why, 'And I was only gone for half a day due to work... '.
Hackers don't wait for you to go away for a day, people who live with you, and can log into the game on your PC' do. Like your kids. or your wife. Basically, as long as your fleet-mates don't invite your family round for dinner, they are OK.

well right now im scanning my entire computer. Results aren't good as its picking up 101 threats atm. Which I don't get since I have it on scanning every night when I go to bed and keep it updated. But none the less that's what its picking up right now. My security is my first priority in all this rather my digital goods, though yes.. I spent a lot to get them.

After the scan is done, ill be changing every single password I have. And then from there, for the time being I don't have a secondary computer.. so getting a new computer is pretty much out of the question for now. Though I was thinking of building a new one. So hopefully my security program will clean it all out *crosses fingers*

And just hoping cryptic can trace down the thief, im doing everything in my power atm to fix the issue or do "whats right".

I change passwords every 3 months. Also the rest of the members in the fleet are fine. Its silly to think that we are all targeted out.

I understand the freekout panic your going through right now(I've been there) but the other guy is right. If you have another computer go change passwords to stuff.(write them down with pen and paper odds are in your current state of mind you wont remember them tomarrow). If you do any online banking call your bank and calmly tell them your online accounts might of been compromised and to keep an eye out for any odd transactions for a little while.

After that grab your phone so you can check your email and your ticket every now and then, grab a beer, and watch a movie. Something with lots of explosions.

You don't need a new computer to fix this. You can simply format your existing computer and reinstall the OS, etc. It takes some work but it's the surest way to know your computer is safe again. The worst part about these situations is not knowing for sure if your computer is safe or not. If you don't feel you can comfortably answer that question for yourself, then get a professional to help you...even if it is just some geek friend who like me grew up attached to computers.

I don't necessarily buy that other person's logic about you being away from work as proof you weren't TRIBBLE. It would be easy for a hacker to determine your routine from your online activity and that is useful information to have; if a hacker wants to get stuff done, he's going to wait for the right opportunity, obviously. At any rate, the timing could be entirely coincidental. That said, if you save your passwords on your computer so you don't have to type them, then someone local could be a concern. The game launchers nowadays are often just a window using an integrated browser. I am not sure if it is possible to save your password for STO or not. I don't use any such technology. If you don't and no one knows your passwords, then I think you can reasonably assume an external intrusion.

In addition to your AV software, install Malwarebytes.

I just would hate for you to be doing this and suddenly find you have a problem that goes well above the loss of game assets to ones that exist in the real world, that's all.

But it sounds like you are dealing with it to the best of your ability and that is good. I wish you the best and I hope it gets resolved soon. If you ever need any advice you are welcome to mail me @rswfire.

This five minute timer can also go straight to hell, Cryptic.

Yeah I totally get where your coming from. I don't want this issue to persist to other areas of what I do online. Doing what I can for now. Cleaned my computer, all threats removed. Def install malwarebytes, and changed all my passwords, wont be storing them on the computer for now so I have my paper and pen :P

Now its just a matter of making sure this doesn't have in the future. Thanks for the advice and feedback though on this, its very appreciated.

True, but you can't be too careful. I imagine most of our members will follow suit and change password just to be on the safe side.

And seriously, not a single Dev response? What the hell, guys?

Can you put someone on this? Our fleet bank got cleaned out but that's besides the point.
He had easily over $1000 in lockbox ships.
One of your "whales" is having one of the worst days in his life.

I really have no idea how something like this could/would be resolved, as its typically handled through Customer Service. But I will see what I can do to get a few more eyes on the issue, if nothing else.

Afraid I can't make any promises. Good luck!

Who else having access to his computer is still a valid concern, if his virus scan is finding a number of threats either he has been going to questionable sites or somebody else has. Then there is the issue of program security, what programs is he using to access the web, launch the game and how safe are they?
I never use IE myself, I use Firefox with the NoScript, Adblock Plus and Flashblock addons, between that Avast and Malwarebytes I've managed to keep my computer clean. I don't use Arc and although I have Steam installed I just use the regular launcher to load and update the game.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

You'd do well to remove Bort's email from your post, as you're not supposed to post private commications from the staff -- however well-intended. The best way to solicit someone's help, is to not start by breaking a rule. Just sayin'. :) Up to you.

so I get a message saying Cs replied to my issue, and to go to my arc support page to see details, cant even look at the page as it keeps trying to redirect over and over again. So I installed arc and when I try to go to ticket history, all I get is blank. So how the heck am I suppose to get something fixed when I cant visually see what CS has replied with, nor have I received an email...

great system guys... great system

downloaded foxfire and this is what I get, does the same for IE, applied third party cookies and everything that it suggests and still doesn't work

and this is what I get from going through arc/support/

The arc support page has been broken for some time in the ARC browser (a redirect loop), Firefox (another, but different redirect loop), and IE (it just quits).

The support page ingame doesn't list your tickets.

And they seem to ignore the email address for support.

Hope they're able to help Loc.

You've been asked multiple times and did not respond once:

Who else has access to your computer?

If necessary, go through the Windows event log for that day. If you see entries while you were away, you know what happened.

All the password changing in the world won't help you if you write it down on a sticky note that's on your screen or whereever. And if you're one of the many, many people who do that: Remove it. Right now. Sorry, but I've just seen this too often, even on company computers with really sensitive data on it. I know it's more uncomfortable this way, but that's what security almost always is: The opposite of comfort.

Also, you might want to consider using easy passphrases whereever you can. A passphrase is a sentence, unlike a password which is just a word. And since a sentence is a lot longer, it's also a lot harder to guess or crack, be it by machine or by human.

Nope and they insist that you use the Customer Service from the arc page for further communication as they will no longer look at the ticket in the game.. *pulls hair out*

well it states that youll get notice by email, but I have yet to get anything

Me too... me too. I know its the weekend atm so prob wont hear anything till.. maybe Monday or Tuesday.. if that. But I looked at my ticket last night *in game* and it stated CS replied to it, but to check arc... but I cant so.... like what the heck am I suppose to do. *flings a rock at a wall*

No one, I live alone, so no one other then myself use's this computer. I did a full check of my computer, found a few issues but nothing major, but now everything is clean. Rechanged all my passwords, the whole nine yards. Actually had to write them down since there soo darn long now.

Thing is.. I looked into my Cryptic Guard.. which is to prevent anyone or any other computer from accessing my account or at least give me notification of someone attempting to gain entry. I found 2 different IP's on the account that were given the *a ok* not by me, and was never given any notification at all through my main email account that someone got in.. so.. I have no idea how they gain entry. I'm at a loss. But Ive been pretty much on full alert since this went down and now I'm checking everything almost every few hours.

Just a suggestion- try filing a ticket thru the accounting department. The few times I had to contact PWE the ONLY time I got a replay was when it went thru their payments queue system.

The bottom line gets attention, everything else goes thru their customer service reps in New Delhi.

Sad thing is, I have multiple tickets on the go to get this going. I filed one in game and then emailed them directly and still no word as of yet. If nothing happens, they'll be losing a long time player.
