Cryptic bans accounts impersonating Devs for 24 hours

Everyone rename your toons now.
Also Im going to report this to Valve so they kick STO from their store and to some game reviewers on youtube ...Im sure they will love to have something to make vids about.
Also all my friends /fleet will have toons named Geko .

It's one of the devs. It's like putting GM before your name. I would wager a guess he's leaving out details like his name being "GekoSucksMyBalls" or something.

You do realize it's against the EULA to impersonate a GM/DEV, yes? Not that this is happening - but I'll wager that is the reason behind the banning.
I understand that the 24 hour ban/renaming of toons merely because they have the name Geko makes about a smuch sense as my wanting to force everyone else in the world to change their name from 'Robert' but still... their game, their rules.
oh Im so scared Ill be banned from soemthing that will get you banned anyway for TRIBBLE reasons like having a level 17 toon named geko.... not only that but was also badnamed so my friend will have to rename it.
Yea cuz geko is a trademark.
they should go ban fallout ...that has geko too.
VALVe will probably laugh their collective asses off, and tell you not to use reserved names in an MMO and/or to try and impersonate members of the staff. Count yourself lucky you didn't get perma-banned.

No because naming your toon Geko is against the EULA. It's like that in every MMO out there. You can't impersonate or even insinuate that you're impersonating a dev/GM in any MMO out there.
The fact that your "friend" tried is simply stupid, and it's even more stupid that you're trying to fight this fact.
I'm not a huge fan of Cryptic all the time, but this time they're right.
You can't plead ignorance of the EULA.
That's a person saying this is happening, not any proof. People say things happen all the time, but not all of their claims are true.

this guy was up last week during the Inferno here. low post count and insulted on a personal level.
but banning a player for "Geko", you either receive a warning, or the name is locked anyway like Enerprise, Picard, or there is more to the story.

Doesn't matter if you did or didn't. It's in the EULA. Pleading ignorace, and trust me it's obvious that you're ignorant, doesn't matter and doesn't care.

Ok,that has to be the dumbest argument so far....just naming your toon Geko is not the same as impersonating a Dev.Besides,in game Devs and GM's are clearly identifiable by their tags on their toon and in chat,only really,really dumb people would fall for such an impersonation.
I'm not surprised something like this happening at all...Cryptic always has these 'crackdowns' when the community is displeased with Cryptic's 'design decisions'.
