Same problem, skills tree at trainers all greyed out.. unable to train or change skills for Remen-Romulan character.
    Epic fail.

I should have checked here first. I deleted my KDF Captain's new Sontara-I mean, Hierarchy Intelligence Officer earlier today, assuming that the reason why I couldn't train him had something to do with the fact that he defaults to being a Starfleet officer.

If the fix isn't in the next patch, can we at least get the word out in "Known Issues?"

We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.

    Character: T'Plynq@Red.Line (KDF Aligned Romulan)

Unable to use Bridge Officer Trainer in New Romulus Command for any Bridge Officers.
Unable to use Captain to Train any Bridge Officers.
AM ABLE to use Bridge Officer Trainer on Qo'nos.

Bridge Officer Roster includes two KDF Aligned Bridge Officers ... Nelen Exil (Tier 5 Dyson Reward) and a KDF Nausicaan Science Officer (bought from Exchange).

Discovered that a KDF Aligned Romulan is unable to Trade Bridge Officers to any character who is not a KDF Aligned Romulan/Reman.

Strongly suspect that the Training Lockout is a misattribution/misapplication of Alignment Restriction(s) designed to prevent Training of "enemy" faction Bridge Officers. In this case, the system is incorrectly identifying "allies" as "enemies" and locking out Training options (for ALL Bridge Officers!) as a result.

I'm experiencing this issue on my KDF-Rom only (My Fed-Rom is just fine). Glad I found this thread, so I'll try the Qo'nos trainer and see if that works, I'm unable to use BO candidates to train up other BOs - the option isn't even there on the initial dialog box to "train up". EDIT: Forgot about the bug where you have to have an alien of that specialty active before you can train up with an alien boff, so that is "fixed".

This makes some sense to me. I bought a new BO for my Fed-Rom yesterday. When I commissioned her, I was surprised to see the BOff wearing KDF 'bikini armor'. Sure enough, in the tailor she only had the KDF uniform options available, yet in all other respects she is functioning as a member of my crew. I currently have that BOff active on my ship. I thought it really strange, because I'd always thought the BOffs would not work for the "other" faction (and have seen some funny messages when experimenting with it) but now it seems that the factions are somewhat borked and can have funny things happen.

I can't recall whether I trained any skills on this new BOff - I should try it and see what happens. Maybe I can try it at lunch today... UPDATE: was able to train this KDF boff at the Qo'nos trainer.

Same Issue here, however I have noticed that sometimes the skills themselves have disappeared. The window is just blank except for energy credits and window title. The rest of the time they are just greyed out.

Same issue. KDF aligned Rom Tac character cannot train bridge officers on skills that are available. Cannot train bridge officers at New Romulas, but can train bridge officers at the Quonos bridge officer trainer.

Same issue here, on a KDF-aligned engineering Reman. I know that KDF-Roms are a minority in STO, but I hope that this is prioritized somewhere!

    Summary of what I'm experiencing:

    KDF Romulan character.

    NOT WORKING:

    - Using my character to train my bridge officers.
    - Using bridge officer trainer on new romulus to train bridge officers.

All bridge officer abilities appear "greyed out" - I can choose the ability to train, but I cannot choose any bridge officers to train.

    WORKING:

    - Using bridge officer trainer on Qu'nos to train bridge officers.

As i've seen this issue appear sometime if you change from the bridge officer trainer and click train officer from your character window, I have several times before this bug seen that the abilities are "greyed out". To reset this all i needed was to close the training window and open it. But after the bug, i cannot reset it like i did before to "clear" the "greyed out" abilitites.

This is VERY annoying. Because of this i cannot "equip" essential abilities for my bridge officers. And not being able to setup the builds i want.. really hurts my gameplay... alot...

Could some DEV please reply to this and give us an update?

Just wanted to add some new information that I haven't seen reported before.

Although the trainer in First City works for most training, I recently picked up a Sci/Intel boff and I can train him in any intel skills but not science skills. When I mouse over his name in the training window, it says this officer can not learn this skill.

I'm not sure if this is related to the Rom/KDF bug or a bigger issue with intel officers in general.

No DEV have a comment on this?

Can't train my Boffs in anything as Romulan (KDF aligned) either

    - Not through my captain

    - Not through skill trainer (haven't tried Qo'Nos)

    - Not through "Train Up" on new Boffs

The issues with Rom-KDF players are confirmed and under investigation.

Anyone else experiencing this, that is not playing as a KDF-aligned Romulan, please make sure that your skills are valid before adding to this bug report.

To see if your skills are valid, open your skills window ('K' by default) and see if there is a "Respec" button in the bottom-right. You must press that button to reset your skill trees before additional training will be available, as your character data has landed in an invalid state.

 CONSPICUOUS BY ITS ABSENCE  from today's Patch Notes:
    Known Issues:

    • Fleet projects that require items such as Photon Torpedoes will not accept the required items to complete the project.
    • The Starbase in the Fleet Starbase queue does not scale correctly to the difficulty level.
    • The “Azure Nebula Rescue” queue is not available.
    • The episode “Takedown” can become blocked from completion if Gaul is defeated while in the hallway attached to the arena. ◦When this occurs, the players will be locked behind the door unable to progress.
    • The Vaadwaur missile in “The Battle of Korfez” has incorrect art.
    • Some text does not match the VO.
    • The new Intel power “Kinetic Magnet” does not function properly on all items.

Gee ... no mention that being unable to Train Bridge Officers is any kind of a Known Issue.

    There are some news?

I can't make full use of my new ship.

One of the key features of Delta Rising is the new Intelligence officer skills and we cant train any officers. I just got the special sci/intel boff from DR, the Borg Sci boff, a tac/intel boff I needed for my new ship and I'm very close to the Voth boff from dyson rep but I cant use any of them because of this bug. Really game breaking and I'm thinking after this weekend it may be time to move on from this game.

I have reported through every in game complaint ticket, and since you responded to tell me,

"Please be assured that our developers will investigate the issue, however, it is not possible for us to determine when the issue will be fixed. This is why we recommend posting in our Quality Corner so it can be looked at by our QA and Development teams.

We truly appreciate you playing and supporting our games!"

So, exactly what must I do and how much more money must I spend before I can at bare minimum get the game to work? I cannot find a "quality corner," and your "help" has never helped me, or anyone in my fleet. I'm tempted to contact pay pal and tell them I got ripped off over $3000 from this game!

Look, all I want is for the game to at least work. I cannot train my boffs on my KDF Romulan. It doesn't get any more simple and complete of an explanation than that! I cannot keep a "loadout" on my ship if my life depended on it, again making it impossible to play! Let's see, warp to Infected Space and wait!!! Mr. Borg, I need 5 minutes to re organize my tray!

I and others have begged and pleaded with you. For the love of Star Trek, please, please fix this game before we all leave and boldly go to, I don't know, Star Citizen?

I have not been able to train my kdf romulan on New Romulus for the last two days. Why is this not in the patch notes!? WHy is it that Fed romulans can apparently train on New Romulus but KDF romulans can't!? This game is getting worse and worse every day...

If this is helpful either to devs trying to replicate the error or players trying to find a workaround, I'm finding that my KDF Romulan can't retrain Boffs at neutral facilities, like the trainers at Jenolan Dyson Sphere, New Romulus command, or the Romulan Flotilla... but the trainer at Qo'nos seems to work for me.

Earlier, my Klingon toon was unable to train the Hierarchy Intel Officer at Jenolan Dyson Sphere; regretably, I deleted that Boff rather than try elsewhere, assuming that it was simply a badly designed Boff rather than a bigger problem.

Yep its been quite a few days here and I am still unable to fully train my romulan. I can only use the skill trainer at qo'nos and cannot train up new candidates nor can I use train them myself regardless of location.

Pretty game breaking stuff - Any ETA on a fix?

    Cryptic,

The majority of the time I play STO, I play almost exclusively with Romulan characters. All, and I do mean all, of my Romulan characters are KDF alined. This is a HUGE bug that needs to be fixed, ASAP, if not yesterday.

Today I logged in, checked that the bug, was, once again, still not resolved, and quickly exited STO, as their was no reason to play.:( Not being able to change, or even acquire new bridge officer abilities makes the very basic STO game play undesirable, as bridge officer abilities are one of the fundamental abilities of STO, along with our characters skills and abilities.

Until this bug is resolved, there is only one character I have (previously setup) that I desire to play with. However, having to only play with this one toon, due to a continual bug that has taken over two weeks to fix, is very demotivating.

Demotivating enough to find a new space game, maybe so? If fixing this bug has no immediate set date put on it, then maybe so should my loyalty to this game.

    Cryptic,

Might as well keep a count of how long this will take to fix.

Currently, day 16 still no fix.
