PS, can you tell i'm bored with STO PvP right now? :P

I'm unfamiliar with this term. Does it have anything to do with that "balance" word i keep hearing about?

Lol, i came to terms with balance (or lack of) a long long time ago. It was mainly to do with some loud Klingon fleet. Beat them too quick when we got back and then lost interest again :P

Gotta go bed now. Midnight here. Weekend would be a blast for you to join us.... Look forward to it. Give ya the TS info closer to time. (Panda TS)

Trick is, don't worry about shields and go straight to hull. Right now with all the Sci traits floating about (conservation of energy, particle manipulator etc.), Scis do direct to hull damage better than Tacs (Tacs can still spike better).

Once the normal part of the run is done, drag all three "Boss" ships together, and recipe is as follows:

    Sensor stack the target first.

Quantum Singularity manipulation (Rom T5 ability) + Sensor Scan + GW3 (2k/tic with max hit of 7k)+ Repulsors 2 (6k/tic with max hit of 20k) + ISO cannon (1 hit 40k) + Proton barrage (1 hit 10k) + Torp spread 2 (1 hit 2k with gravametric rift 3.5k/tic) + Warp plasma 1 (1.5k/tic) + Iso Charge with max hit of 212k = Chunks of hull ripping off.

You can hit all that in less than 8 secs (Duration of quantum manipulation)....

thats what 1 ship can do. We had 2 ships going at it. Now imagine 5 of this build. No need for dedicated debuffers and damage dealers.

SNB the Hazards on the Undine and FBP on Borg.

PS, the ISO Cannon is the new set power.

Scis have never been as powerful as this in in STO.

so at the end you hit for maybe 400k-600k dmg with your abilitys during your rom t5 (with 5 minutes cd) to the hull
but in advanced, the vothdread+queen have 4 mil hull, the tethys 2,8 mil
dont see how to kill with this values a ship that fast with 2 people

but make a video and show it ;)

I don't know what's so hard to understand. DPS arms race are BORING!!! I'm surprised you two pvpers don't get this.

I mean, I don't see how going around shooting MAH LaZors for 20min is a fun experience for you. Those spheres just sat there and took it, not even a hint of retaliation. Ugh, that's so boring. Cryptic needs to move away from this gameplay, give the AI scramble sensors, AMS, viral matrix, subnucleonic beam... Or something. And more intelligent objectives. Such as, do A before puzzle B, then do analysis of C or risk failing the mission.

Why is this so hard? What a dumb game.

You realize this has already been done........
The only problem is that these guys kill targets too fast for the AI to actually use those special abilities. Tactical cubes do have subnuc capabilities, as well to the Jem'Hadar, and many other enemies have Viral Matrix, take the Romulans for example. Float around a D'dax for a while, and you'll get hit by that. Cryptics answer? boost the HP and make them live longer.

Lol, they should make more enemies that would troll these DPS machines and get them to kill themselves for firing or at least force them to have to change their builds depending on the enemy. If NPCs actually had 12 abilites like players and skill trees, stats, and gear for each one, and gave them a better AI, it would be much more complex than just spewing DPS.

What do devs do instead of actually making the AI smarter and giving them more stuff to use? Hike up their hull, resistance, weapons and voila, it's harder! In all frankness, a ship with no tac or engineering consoles can survive in PvP way, way longer and kill more stuff than a Borg cube can in current elite content.

Frankly, change #1 I'd do for the Borg, give them two copies of TT, and let them use stuff like Polarize Hull and RSP.

They did that once....... people complained and moaned because it was "too hard" so they dialed it back

LOL!!! Far too much serious work for Cryptic given there are issues with the game here since day one that have not been fixed yet sadly... :(

I'm expecting quite a bit out of this DR, Cryptic has been working on this since the launch of free to play, granted it was a much smaller group then.

Try, then fail, then post up asking for tips. Already been one thread started due to that.

    passivly bumping...
uhm yea, thats kinda true.. It is entirely what i expected to happen. I find it funny how active forums currently are, with... how impossible the new STFs are... its not like we didnt tell me.. pointed where they needed to improve and all that. And now that its finally happening, they open a new threat and call it:,, DEVS WHAT HAVEYOU DONE?"

i had an especially good laugh at that one ;D

    best regards

Is the advanced easier if everyone is level 60? Does it make a difference? Perhaps one of the reasons why it's so difficult for some people is because they're not level 60 yet, and not properly geared? Maybe I'm wrong...just a thought though.

if you play normal, everything gets scaled down to 50.
if you play advanced everything gets scaled UP to 60.
if you play elite you have to be 60.

Or at least thats how its supposed to be. The difference in power lies more within upgrading items then within captain levels (pets authomatically upgrade, as they scale with your level - making them stronger in relation).. The video I recorded was at level 55, scaled up to 60 with mk 12 equip.
So.. yea, it will become easier eventually, but the difference of just upgrading a single item is kinda small.. you need to work your way through there, to actually see a good increase.

    best regards

    Whaaaaaaaaa??? Are you serious?

It was the finale mission of the elachi arc, and combined with the ddridex being the only beam ship after three warbird escorts, and most people being unfamiliar with singularities etc the mission was too much. Veteran players won it easily and insulted those who had trouble. The devs nerfed it.

Another example was the crystalline entity where one version of the map generated more mirror ships than pugs could handle. People started quitting instantly if they saw they had the rift map. This one also generated a slew of posts from people who were getting spawn camped by dozens of mirror ships, and scores of insults from those who had no difficulty. Devs reduced the number of rifts and made the mirror ships more likely to aggro tholians.

Its also a build issue. On tribble it took about two weeks before we were farming the advanced queues reliably. And yes there is a massive difference between being scaled to 60 and being 60. Thing about when level 16 characters show up in the fleet alert starbase defense. Sure they're scaled up, but are they really contributing to a win? Are they as valuable as a 50?

I saw your vids on twitch, RyanSto. I couldn't stomach how utterly boring that mission was 10 min in.

yea, the mission comprises of a 12 minute timer ticking your time down, and about 4 minutes of interesting fight...

The fact that THESE folks did it - people that are smart, well-versed min/maxers - the fact that it took them multiple attempts and pretty much the ONLY method that makes sense - pretty much shows by definition that it's just nuts in its current form. The amount of effort they exercised should be reserved for the "Elite" queues only.

Guys, try it there now. Let us know how it works! :P
