It really is unacceptable for downtime in this day and age.
Ten years ago when I worked on servers in a data centre we had at the bare minimum redundancy of redundant mirrored servers on redundant mirrored network hardware on redundant peering point/ISP, with heartbeat monitoring to auto switch over within 10 seconds if a problem was detected. We had a server availability of 99.9%.
The only slight excuse you could ever have for major downtime is some bad software, but even then the blame lies in the testing team for doing a bad job of testing, and/or not having a quick roll back strategy in place if it went balls deep.
It seems you have a great team when it comes to new content design, new gameplay ideas, great artists and modellers, but when it comes your new builds, if feels like you use the live system as a testing ground. Or maybe its not the new builds at fault, but a poor implementation of your account authentication system.
Maybe its the server having a hissyfit at the end of the month when it says 'HOW MUCH Zen do you want me to give out this month to players ?!?!"
If the server issues from two weeks ago are any indication, this will simply not ever be fixed because the entire system is a clusterfrell, and apparently no one in the building has the slightest idea how it works. I guess I'll have to contain my hopes to updated launcher art.
We are looking into the problem and loading up our torpedo bays with more Red Shirts.
We are gonna fire them at the servers until we get some results.
We will update you as soon as we get any info on a repair.
Sorry for the log in blockage.

From the second page of this thread:
Instead of players getting "Unable to authenticate;" message... Let it happen to Perfect World!

Knights Of The Federation
You do know you can change your forum title to something more LTS-appropriate, right?
Serverdown when you just logged out for coffee =
kind words indeed, but it does beg the question, how does launching colored cotton undergarments from a torpedo tube... help?

Never heard of her... must've seen a similar name though.
Phlare 202, Autilo Envious, and Amerast Craudau also without a man at the helm. Nobody here heard of them either.
