Glad to hear the Raptor is getting such rave reviews! We hope to hear from more Klingon warriors about how they feel about the ship!

I think you'll hear more about how they feel about the ship from the guys at the other end of the Mat'Ha Raptor's cannons. :D
Oh, and if only NPC could talk...:P

Anyway the Raptor is awesome, you had a sale here ever since I saw the concept art from Las Vegas. Back then I only wished the "nose-pipe" to be somekind of a huge cannon....and my wishes were answered! :) The design is great and very Klingon, I love it!

And thanks for the RMC by the way, didn't even remotely see that one comming, it was a rather great and unexpected suprise! :)

I think I'm giving up on the livestreams after this debacle, TBH. I don't have an issue with RMC being single character but the fact that they flat out told us otherwise several times is just... Ugh. I know they got screwed on this too, but it really causes poor feelings between TPTB and the player base.

But as far as the streams go - The video lag is awful and the chat lag is nearly as bad. The chat is just a mind-numbing scroll of never-ending stupid. Having to spam a word to enter contests grates on my nerves, especially since Twitch bots are unreliable. I know they don't operate Twitch but they do choose to use it and have to work within its limitations. You can't tell me the ONLY way they can raffle things is to make 3000+ people type "Cookie" for ten minutes, that's just insane.

And the limited-access codes... I'm a Mac user, but I have a spare Windows laptop with Arc installed, so I can still enter codes on the side machine. So, I'm not quite as screwed as most Mac users. But without the advantage of copy-paste on these limited ones, I didn't even bother trying, since they were gone in literally two seconds or less and I can't type that fast. I know in past streams they offered to have Mac users message them and come up with a workaround for the non-limited codes, but that offer was absent this time - is not excluding parts of your player base too much trouble? Yes, I know the neckbeard fanboy answer is "get a real computer" but I'd expect a little better from the devs. You guys didn't have to make a Mac client, and I thank you for doing so, but if you're going to fail to treat the people using it fairly, there's really not much point?

In short: Thanks for the free RMC, I'm sorry TPTB screwed you guys on the details too, but it's still breeding discontent among people, and I don't think you're going to get as many people coming to these streams in the future. Love, someone who never posts on the forums.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the show itself :)

Be very careful with your RMC! If you discard it you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PICK UP ANOTHER EVEN ON THE SAME CHARACTER.

Where were all these warnings when we got the item? I don't have it anymore because YOUR standard line when a C-store item isn't working properly is to delete and reclaim it. And you guys told us for the majority of the stream that it was an account wide unlimited unlock. I unlock it, treat it like an account wide unlimited unlock, and now I not only have neither, but won't be able to unlock it in the future due to how the C-store works.

While obviously you guys don't give two sticks to rub together and make fire about it, for the end users like us it's really disheartening to be willfully misinformed about the characteristics of a prize item, and then laughed at like this with the turnaround- oh sorry, I wasn't informed, if you unlocked the item on an alt or it got deleted you're screwed sorry sorry- I don't want your apologies, I want you to fix it.

Question for all the haters out there, what is it exactly about smirk an trendy that makes you hate them so much? Im just curious thats all. Me personally understand that smirk and trendy are just doing thier jobs, they cant control what perfect world decides for this game, let alone what cryptic has decided for the game. If you get angry about how the game is handled then contact cryptic/perfect world, also if you dont agree with smirk or trendys opinion then sorry, its just an opinion which we are all entitled to.

    i do not hate them.

I do expect them to be professional.

This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened, which means we could have fairly expected more preparation beforehand, more attention to accuracy.

And the attempt to blame the whole debacle on players was shameful.

I would hope this sort of mess inspires our CMs to take more care in future. To doublecheck data before telling it to players as truth.

Well, I enjoyed the livestream. First time I've ever tried with it. (Thanks to the holodeck being down for most of it....)

But the spam is out of control. Lol I spotted a probable bug during the demo and couldn't tell them about it.

I'm rather new to STO so maybe i'm wrong, but I thought that these people were the front facing community for STO so they are the people who are supposed to deal with this.

Look for those of you saying we're all self entitled losers, I think you need to check your own attitude. It isn't about complaining about free stuff (though one could argue time = money so the 2 hours we spent watching the livestream when we could have been doing something else makes it not free. I bill at $40 an hour), its about promises and deliveries. If you tell someone something, then you need to deliver on what you promised. It really is that simple.

Imagine a radio station event. You know how they always do those things like business openings and stuff to drum up customers. Imagine a radio event where they advertise to come out and win stuff. So you drive out there and hang out for a few hours and after you've been there for a few hours, they announce that they changed their minds. Because too many people showed up they aren't going to give away free prizes. Now sure, it is free stuff so you really have no leg to stand on to complain, but I guarantee you everyone would complain anyway. Even those of you calling us self entitled would complain. What is the difference?

If you say you are doing something, then do it. It is that simple.

    Imagine a radio station event.

Reminds me of that radio station that advertised a competition for a free "Toyota" (Car). Turns out the competition for was for a free "Toy Yoda". The winner was not too pleased and sued. They got their car in the end.

Under consumer law (at least in Europe), you advertise/post something about a product, you have to back that up, even if it's free.

    Cheers!

    Why are you talking about hate, where there is no hate here. Just talking about how things were handled on 9.27.14. @ 2 PM PST. RMC is the topic what was said about it by the two host. I have nothing against anyone. Whoever is in charge of the live-stream event needs to come clean and do what's right for those of us who had attended this event! Plus we all where told yesterday live about the RMC was also;

    Wide Open Account Access.
There wasn't any mention of limited one account access. This is where the issue is. I was so glad to learn they said Wide Open Account Access and available to all those who had attended the live-stream event. They need 2K for the RMC. Then if they got over 2K like 3K then more codes for free items for all but see maybe they didn't expect over 3.5K online at the same time for the rest of the codes. Or did they?

    All you can say, really.

I see no simple fix to the past errors, and a complex fix could easily cause more problems than it solved.

The sole possible good outcome is for our CMs to recognise where they've clearly gone wrong and fix it going forwards.

In my view that process should start with an actual apology, as opposed to a clumsy attempt to deflect culpability, but if pride prevents then I would settle just for learning.

To be fair after he checked it on his own account he did apologize for the mistake. He can not be blamed for a mistake which was caused by one of his colleagues altering something without his knowledge.

While I would have liked it to be account wide I will just accept it on one toon especially since DR is encouraging folks to only use one toon anyway with its specialization systems.

As it is stated now in account, no. It says only one of these is permitted per account. And if you delete it keeps the same messaging. So don't do that in an attempt to claim one later on the character you would like it to be on.

So I take it the RMC I got from the stream that was for my brother, who I finally got to try STO, will now have to be informed that you guys got it wrong and it is char bound instead of account like we were first told?

First of all, I appreciate getting the RMC, so thanks for that. :)

Second of all, this craziness about the code getting changed is... unfortunate. I get punished for the actions of others... who likes that? This changes a cool thing into something... tarnished. I think a fair compromise would be to keep the RMC single-character unlocks, but allow them to be reclaimable, so the people that claimed them on the wrong character can dismiss and reclaim on the right one. I, at least, claimed it on a good toon (one who uses escorts)... still not sure if it was the *right* one.

And, finally, while I appreciate the free stuff, debacle or not... I probably won't watch the streams anymore. The chat is chaos, and the mad dash for codes is not fun. Further, as a Mac user, it's kinda insulting that you're forced to run a VM to even get ARC to work. Thankfully, I have a Parallels trial running with Windows 8.1, so I was able to get the RMC. But, that trial is about to run out. I could download a free VM client, and jump through hoops to get free copies of Windows (which will be gaming the system, if not outright software piracy). I could buy Parallels or VMware, and buy a legit copy of Windows (~$160).

I should not have to do this. Once again, I (a Mac user) am getting punished for a lame reason... because I made the "wrong" purchase of computer? Wrong. There is no ARC client for Mac... it's not broken, it does not EXIST. So, I have to break my neck to set up a VM, just to get a free costume?

No, thanks. Have fun on future (live)streams, but it will likely be without me. Maybe I'll just wait to catch the rebroadcasts...

Given the 'confusion' over the RMC codes, the new 'limited issue' codes, I dont think I'll be bothering again.

The livestream parts are ok, the presentation certainly not too offensive, but the continuing issues with prize codes and the apparent ignorance of what they've actually been given is becoming a problem.

Good, less competition for those of us who like to watch the streams for the content and have the bonus of maybe winning something.

Before these last couple of streams, this most recent one got very close to 4k viewers, the streams were usually sub 2k.

So if its mostly people looking for free TRIBBLE, and they don't have any patience to enjoy the stream while Smirk works out issues with these new blanket codes, which he is obviously also pretty frustrated with, I don't think anyone will miss them.

At the end of the live-stream he did say the latest patch changed the access, but wasn't he aware of that change prior to the live-stream? After all he's the STO Community Manager. Also he wasn't on his system he was a shared system that others in the department all use in the office, which he did say that at the end. First system is that his or part of the live-stream event only. So many different locations in that building they're in. Prior live-stream he was in his rob back facing windows. This event he's in smaller room or the angle makes it seem small.

Starting a live-stream you need to have everything set in place. But again main server down for the players entire afternoon so no one could check and see if the codes were wide access or not. Just in the future make sure what the codes have access to and what are the limits prior to putting live-stream. Still management must have been aware of the codes changes. Someone had to programmed the codes for the accounts wide access?

Codes should have been tested prior to the going live though and make sure players would be able to access them widely on their accounts as first suggested at the start of live-stream and during it. So no one there tested the code prior to show they had week or so to prepare for it.

Anyway RMC works nice on the FED side and I did say many times in the live-stream even thanks for the code and access across my account. I had to check the video again because I was on the full 2 hrs but my internet was dropped. It wasn't until after 11 pm my time that I was able to get some feedback from the forum. So only one time usage only in the end.

First of all I would like to thank Smirk, Trendy and Co for putting on the livestream, especially considering the technical problems that were going on at the time. Also it occurs to me that you guys may not normally work Saturdays so thanks for giving up your Saturday afternoon if that was the case! I don't envy you guys having to manage the community during the Holodeck outage and putting on the livestream at the same time!

With regards to the Red Matter Capacitor give away I do feel let down/disappointed. In the livestream (Link to Video at approx. 21:43) CaptainSmirk confirms/clarifies that the code for the RMC is an account-wide unlock, however when Holodeck came back online, people quickly found that this was not the case. Unfortunately I was one of those that claimed the RMC on a character that doesn't really need it as I was under the impression it was an account-wide unlock, rather than the one per account, bound to character on pickup unlock that it turned out to be.

Personally I would like to see the RMC from the code given out during the livestream made bind to account as a goodwill gesture to make up for the miscommunication. I believe this would be a fair compromise as it could still be used account wide (transferred via account bank) but would still be limited to one claim only i.e. one per account. :D

I do feel bad for CaptainSmirk and LaughingTrendy as I don't believe they intended to give out the wrong information, however they are the ones who have been taking the flak for it, hopefully steps can be taken to prevent this kind of miscommunication from occurring in the future! It's not fair they get blamed when it's not their fault.

Congrats to our winners from today's stream, and to everyone who was able to redeem the codes for the Section 31 Promo uniform and the Oberth promo ship, you sure have some fast fingers!

For the RMC Promo winners, we apologize for the confusion about the single character unlock versus the account wide unlock from today's code. This is not a bug and is working as intended, so I hope those who redeemed the code unlocked it on their best/favorite character first.

The promo codes were a total joke.
Cryptic required 3000 viewers before releasing the codes, and then the code is only valid for 200 people. So more than 90% of the viewers are going to miss out, add in the lag and spam on Twitch it's the prefect recipe for annoying.

Then the bait and switch on the RMC codes.

And lets not forget the farce of the "Physical Giveaways". PWE is happy to take money from customers all over the world, but pay the postage for a little bit of hardware? Then anyone outside the US suddenly becomes a second class customer.

All this following on from the phantom give away from the last LiveStream.

This is 100% false. There is different rules and laws governing contests governing physical objects in each country that have to be followed.

Sadly, in most cases, it's easier to do it where the company is based. In this case it was Perfect World Entertainment which is in the US. They have done contests for EU and other places as well before though.

I don't have a problem with them limiting physical giveaways to the US - they are offering free zen (hopefully containing more than the usual 500 zen they give away during the livestream) if the physical item cannot be sent to the winner.
If I won a physical item I would check what it costs to get it sent to me using borderlinx or a similar service.

Given the way the giveaways were handled during the past livestreams I now get the impression they are trying to annoy players as much as possible. Because there is no such thing as a "bad" advertisement.

If cryptic did a TV ad for this game it would probably be the words "Star Trek Online" flashing across the screen in seizure inducing bright neon colors, with the sound of nails scratching over a blackboard as "music".

I also don't believe they intended to give out false information. Remember, Holodeck went down just before the Livestream, the RMC codes were given out and only valid during the Livestream, the patch that changed the RMC codes to single item unlocks was applied while Holodeck was down, and Holodeck came back online with a ~6 hr rollback near the end of the Livestream. Despite what Trendy was told and...
...relayed to us, it is convenient that the server was down and could be patched when the (limited duration and Arc required) code was "spammed across all channels". It looks more like someone made a knee jerk decision and didn't read in Smirk and Trendy, it was miscoded and they were later given clever "justification" for that miscoding, the patch did something unanticipated and moved the unlock to the wrong section of the C-Store (and the prior link still applies), or that the server was brought down just in case the code was "spammed across all channels" and it turns out it was. Yeah the last of those four is mostly just gunning for the Tinfoil Hat costume unlock Smirk leaked on Twitter, bit the others seem rather likely.

I highly doubt that Smirk or Trendy are the ones responsible for the change, nor were they likely privy to it before they were made aware of the single item unlock status by Livestream viewers rather than their own coworkers. Those coworkers should be required to abstain from all bacon and coffee for a month, instead giving it to our CMs as an apology for leaving them in the dark while they were live with their viewers. A Gibbs smack from Smirk and Trendy might also be warranted for all responsible for the change, whether intended or simply "justified" after the fact, as a wake up call...

Yeah, based on what Trendy relayed to us (see above), Smirk did know how they were supposed to be scripted and they were in fact changed while nobody (Smirk included) had access to Holodeck.

Yes, I am defending Smirk and Trendy in this case as I don't believe they are where the fault lies. That does not mean I am at all impressed by the handling of the giveaway or the stealth change that even Smirk and Trendy were left in the dark about. At a bare minimum those that watched the Livestream should be given the full account unock it was originally intended to be.

No, I'm actually 100% right. Look up giveaway/contest rules in the EU, then look them up in the US, then Canada, then Asia. They are all different. While smirk may be somewhat correct, that cost is a limiting factor, there is also rules governing physical items for contests and giveaways by corporations.
