All the codes given out during the stream are now either redeemed to their limit or cut off.
Sadly, these code were posted in the Forums, on Reddit and Twitter without the information that they would only be limited redemption or made inactive after the show went off the air.
Sorry that this info wasn't passed out by the users who shared the code while we were broadcasting.
In the future we will make sure to utilize the raffle system more exclusively.
Hopefully the next time we livestream it won't be when you are working
I'm sorry......are you saying that the idea that the RMC was an account wide unlock didn't come from you?
That it came from the players who posted it outside the livestream?
Because thats what that just looked like.
An honest error is one thing, refusing to accept resposnsibility and attempting to pass that onto others is shameful.
THIS GOES OUT TO AGATHORN as it wont let me post to their reply on my original post! .........errm yep it did and i knew that.... BUT end of the day it was still missleading just making a point as some people are new players ect and dont know how most of it works but it was still a bit of a debacle with lag and things from what ive seen if you were outside the U.S you had no chance of redeeming the codes...HELL I WAS IN WORK SO COULD'NT ACCESS THE STREAM ANYWAY...BUT it could of been explained more in the facebook pagepost is what im saying for folks that never tuned into a live stream before it DID look like everyone would get a delta pack and folks feel cheated as ( yep as you said common sense ect and i agree and so would everyone else tbh on the matter) i think the point being made by everyone on facebook is that was what was stated( since been edited i may add, and they feel it was false advertising ( im sure if you went into your local store and they were advertising buy one get two free and you only got buy on get one free then you would feel rather put out) all iv asked for is an apology on facebook for the rather unfortunate way that the post was put over without saying only 5 packs were avaiable I DON'T THINK THAT IS UNREASONABLE....PS im a 900 day vet subscriber spend a hell of a lot on zen (and bought the game on release) ....i very rarely post or comment on the forum so think im entitled to the odd opinion now and again be it good or bad!
I turned off the stream when Smirk started reading the the description for every new ability. If I want someone to read the phone book for me I'll read it myself.
How hard is it to gather 5 people between your two companies to run through a normal ground STF? At least you admitted you needed to turn on godmode 1 because you couldn't handle the combat.

The channel spam is beyond ridiculous, but since you guys don't work at twitch I don't really think you can fix it. So... it's the STO community's fault on this one.
Honestly if you are going to play the game for us and show off neat stuff, then play the game, come in with properly geared equipment and the knowledge of what you're doing and then show off what's going on. Getting vaped by Kazon and having to cheat in your own game shows us that either the game or the player isn't ready to be played. (Though I do understand that bugs, no pun intended, happen.)
It was nice to hear Kate's insight.
And on that note, I'd rather watch the Devs play and discuss their work while the Community Managers manage the community.
I'm glad that the RMC is being given out as a single character unlock. I purchased the collector's edition (CE) for the RMC only as I already had an LTS. I think this was the fair route to go that respects the promise of exclusivity to the CE purchasers while still allowing it to be obtained in some form by others. People can feel misled, but at least they didn't pony up $60 for the item and obtained it for free. It still pretty much something for nothing for today's giveaway.

Thanks to Kate Bankson for joining us today! It was a lot of fun to run through the event with you
Hope everyone who joined to watch the show and learn about the upcoming content enjoyed themselves. It was great running around the Delta Quadrant with all those ships and fireworks.
We apologize for the delay and for Holodeck's unexpected downtime today. We wish the Dev team the best for working hard to bring it back online so quickly.
Congrats to our winners from today's stream, and to everyone who was able to redeem the codes for the Section 31 Promo uniform and the Oberth promo ship, you sure have some fast fingers!
For the RMC Promo winners, we apologize for the confusion about the single character unlock versus the account wide unlock from today's code. This is not a bug and is working as intended, so I hope those who redeemed the code unlocked it on their best/favorite character first.
Thanks again to everyone who took part in our viewer participation goals, and we hope to see you again in future livestreams.

Unfortunately since we were under the impression it was an account unlock I claimed it on the first character I logged in. Which by the way needed it the least. If they are not going to be made account unlocks can we atleast have them made account bound instead?

FULL AGREEMENT HERE.
(Disclaimer: I also own the collector's edition (CE) and have an LTS.)
But honestly, I think it's time to reconsider the availability of the RMC. Maybe a special discount on the RMC only to those with an LTS (with the same account wide unlock for the RMC on all characters, as it currently exists).
I realize some folks are going to argue this. It's one person's opinion (mine).
It's time for Cryptic to start thinking of in-game (STO C-Store) purchases like this.
So, if I read your links correctly, they already knew ahead of time that they were changing the nature of the item, and yet the revelation that the RMC was not an account-wide lock was portrayed as a misunderstanding accompanied by an apology.
I would classify this as a bait-and-switch brought about by poor planning.
Since it was given away so early during the event, how did they know the code was being spammed elsewhere? When did anyone have the time to change an account unlock to a character unlock?
And, if the devs or others could switch the abilities of a device in a matter of minutes or seconds, how is it that nine days is not a long enough period of time to correct a code for an R&D package?

The plot thickens...
Oh there was no misunderstanding. Smirk himself stated, quite clearly, in the livestream that it was an ACCOUNT WIDE unlock. He even looked off camera before saying this, as if to verify it, and then told us yes it is unlocked for all characters.
It was only after people started finding out that it was one character only, did they change their tune and say it was working as expected.
This is not right to say one thing and then change it to another. They clearly state is was full account so your other factions would get RMC. I was surprise to learn my ROM and KDF can't get RMC. They should honor what they tell us and don't change afterwards.
Also how is he picking names to give out prizes. He had a screen up showing multi-screen of chat. So I had type in hello and it never appeared on his screen. So that would tell me everyone typing the word "Cookie" wouldn't even get a chance to win anything like the DR Tier 6 Package, Zen, keyboard an etc.
Something is not right there. Seems like they were more interested to show numbers of players getting on live-stream chat than to give out the prizes to everyone. So much drama on the live-stream. He never shown how the SCI-FED Tier 6 came equip with. None of these ships seem to come with defaults or they're not showing us. All I am seeing is the new DR Rep Gear Only for Space.
I came on EST at 2 PM found a few players already there. We had talk tech and Star Trek Movies and TV shows. I really enjoyed that. I am sure someone was monitoring us but they didn't show up until it was near the 1 PM (4 PM) my time. To say there had issues so it won't start. No one knew if or when it would. 2 PM (5 PM) my time it starts!
But most of what was shown on the game was Bug Hunt with Kate Designer talking with Smirk. That bit I had enjoyed. But after that it started to be more like a reading features than testing out the ROM, KDF (these briefly) and FED SCI (was very brief) Tier 6 Ships is why I was waiting and waiting. Not much happen. Players were dropping off so they had peaked at 3.5K and then when I left it was 2.1K. Again running out of time also that means that same old message next time.
Those other codes should have been unlimited, too much excuses. Codes should be clearly shown in the video not just type in scrolling chat which can get pushed off the screen so fast. Why not collect all the screen names and add the perks to your account just like when they send you Zen. I am sure it can be done also. Codes flying all over the instant chat list. Everyone typing just gets out of hand.
So best to make good on the RMC for your full account as promise and not take that away from the players who waited for hours for the show to take off today. The other codes I won't push it since I didn't know they were giving out more codes with a short number of players to get. That wasn't handle so well. You have 3.5K on the chat you then tell us best to hurry up to get it into the ARC with the ARC delay saying reload the ARC.
Could have been more prepared. You have a week or more to prepare this event. Someone need to answer the questions posted. I had posted a lot no one even answered them. Like I was typing in thin air.
I am severely disappointed in today's live stream and the conduct of those involved in keeping the community apprised of all the details and what was going on. I have come to think that Captain Smirk can't handle the job of STO community manager (or if it isn't him, who ever is). The last community manager was much better and he was the one that got me to watching the live streams. Now I don't think I'll ever watch another, as long as Captain Smirk is at the helm. While I didn't fall for the mistake (or lie) on the Facebook page, I did fall for the RMC mistake (or lie). I accepted it on my main character, as principle, thinking I could then accept it on my alts, and come to find out, only AFTER I accepted it did it tell me it was a one character unlock. Now while my main is my favorite character, he doesn't really need the RMC. He has other power boosting consoles from the Reputation system. It is my alts that need it more. But now I'm stuck with it only on my main character. Yet Smirk and Trendy DID repeatedly say it was account wide. So I'm not happy. And I didn't even get to stay on for the whole show, Smirk just drug it out too long. So I missed the fiasco with the other code (Perhaps that is actually a blessing) And don't get me started on how long it took the STO forum mods to respond and start giving us info on what was happening. It was just ridiculous. (Now I understand things happen when preparing for a big update and that is acceptable; but not even notifying us that you too saw the problem and were working on it till almost an hour later, that isn't; began to make some of us wonder if the game was down for good) So, with everything that happened today, while I'm mad too, there are even more people out there that are far madder than me tonight. And Cryptic will ultimately loose players and money over it. And while this isn't enough to stop me from PLAYING STO (as long as nothing worse happens than a few fixable bugs), no matter what you offer from now on, I WILL NOT watch another of Captain Smirk or Trendy's live streams. EVER. As far as I am concerned, they can't be trusted to check their information and send correct info on to us the players. Put simply, I don't trust them anymore and think they need to be replaced (and/or the community manager).
P.S. many of us understand if you have been working your butts off on a problem and need to eat during the live stream. It happens. Those that complain about such a trivial thing, just want something trivial to complain about.

A better way definitely needs to be developed rather than the code words. I'm sure people will mindlessly spam the chat anyway, but if you assume everyone is going to want the prize anyway, then just randomly choose someone in the chat rather than who type a specific word. Even if the rules are followed and we each only type the word once, that's still 3126 people i.e. lines of text entered into the chat, it's overwhelming. Even if you have a computer doing the picking the conversation and questions get lost in the shuffle completely.
Why the codes were limited for the other codes. This not fair. If you had over 3.4K on the Instant Message, you should have unlimited for the other codes. So those on West Coast got it first. Well the Red Matter is the only code that is unlimited. I've started 2 PM EST there were a lot of people waiting. 2 PM PST finally started.
It was bad form for them to set viewer goals for 3000 and have codes only available for 500. I understand that Smirk and Trendy only get what the company gives them to give us, but that was plainly a ridiculous call on the people above them. Fortunately it didn't burn me as I had the Oberth from last summer and the Sec 31 from a previous livestream, but next time that may not be the case at all. That was kind of a critical problem to have since the blanket codes are basically participation rewards.
As for the account wide unlock I don't attribute any malice there, nothing is gained by Smirk lying.
Weren't we supposed to be getting a code as a sorry for the livestream being cancelled last week? Or was the RMC supposed to be it?
The RMC was for those who came last time. Last time we were supposed to get a C-store R&D pack, but they couldn't get them to function, and further they STILL haven't been able to get those codes operational, so we got the RMC instead.
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
I think the way they are handling this RMC confusion is appropriate. Do I wish all my characters would have access to the RMC, absolutely, but I do not own a CE for my account so I understand the reasoning for the single promotional versus actual CE owners having unlimited RMC access. I accept this as part of Life.
Could they have been better at communicating the circumstances for this particular code? Yes, & I think lately Cryptic have been slipping in such forthright communication about such things regarding in-game especially, but that happens so it really depends upon intent. Accidental misinformation is acceptable but purposely would not be.
Overall, the live-stream is fun even when you lose, but I do not attend with winning something as my priority. I have never won anything except when they allow the "blanket-coding" so I am thankful for their innovation in being generous with those. Just like today they were very generous with many FREE gifts.
I do hope that they continue with such prizes of the same caliber & some new ones too. Also, I hope that they have these only-one promotional codes coded that if you were rewarded one RMC today it would still allow you to be rewarded another at a later date. I think that would be an important piece of information to know about.

Actually, I took your word for it, that it was an account unlock, and logged onto my first character in the list, and opened it on that one. Had I known it would not be an account unlock, I would have opened it on one that would have benefited from it more. Unfortunately, I am stuck with the only one I have on a character that I don't need it on.
Over the last few live streams, it has become clear to me that you are less knowledgeable on the things you show than others are on Tribble. I would suggest taking a look at a lot of the player videos from Tribble to get some pointers. It would improve the quality of your live streams.
Also, getting proper information on the things you say will go a long way towards credibility. Also, when you promise to show something, it would be best to do so. Remember, you are representing Cryptic, and PWE. Therefore, giving correct information will encourage more people to watch for the information, and not just logging in for rewards that might have a chance to work as promised.
These live streams are only getting worse, and becoming a waste of time. Misinformation, and false promises. I am done with them.
Also, blaming others for your misinformation is just poor form, and just plain sad.

Had they said that the RMC was suddenly changed to a character unlock, through the proper channels - livestream included - it would be completely fine as a character unlock and a nice compromise to CE owners even.
But now looking at Laughingtrendy's message in zone chat, it sounds like they had a knee-jerk reaction because the code was getting spammed (their own fault and naivety for not anticipating it). It's almost like they wanted to TRIBBLE those people over ("hey look, they're spamming the code, change it to character-unlock and don't tell anyone!"). As snarky as the quote is, it is exactly how it went.
I don't care much about the item myself and I won't fight to have it, but the way this incident was handled by PW as a company was very unprofessional and this is my feedback as a customer. Take it as you will.

If that was why they did it, they made the change while the servers were down. As soon as they came up, I logged in to claim it. It was a single character unlock then.
Also, in the past, Smirk mentioned it was okay to share a code that they gave out. It was the section 31 code. If they didn't want those that do this to do so with the RMC, then they should have told them not to share it.
But what makes it worse is that he (Smirk) later tried to blame those that shared the code for misinformation that he gave. He was the one that said it was account bound. They just relayed the information.

I mean, I can only complain so much since, well, it's free stuff, but it wasn't advertised as being for one character on your stream (at least during the point where I watched it, maybe you included that disclaimer later?). Fortunately for me I happened to log in with the character I wanted the RMC on first and claimed it there so I personally wasn't affected, but blaming twitter/reddit/etc for the misinformation is disingenuous.
What an interesting debacle that was...
It was my first time watching, and it will probably be the last.
Between the lack of 'correct' information and only having 500 code numbers for each item, in a chat-room full of almost 3500 spammers, I found the experience... severely lacking.
I already have all the items that were given away, so I'm not complaining about that, but the way it was done was totally haphazard and amateurish.
That and the completely unprofessional behavior from a representative of a fairly large company (PWE), made the old STO'ked vid-blogs look like great theatrical presentations.
Perhaps in the future, they might want to give some thought to actually planning out these misadventures before hand, including eating their lunch off-camera and not opening a brand new, donated give-away on camera after eating, said lunch.
If this is how the company now wishes to portray itself though it's reps live on the internet, then there must be a severe lack of quality management judgment at that facility...
And I worry for the future of this game.

i didnt watch the live stream i was waiting on codes to free stuff :P.
as it turned out my main has the rmc which works out correctly, just as well i was suspicious of what it was about. figure i would try find out what the others on esd were complaining about and i confirmed their misgivings about one per account when i tried to claim one on my newest toon flying the rycus kilran.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
It wasn't 500 it was 30 uniforms and 5 ships I think. I had the codes in in under 4 seconds and I'm on the West Coast of N.A. and was too late.
Well, unless Smirk told another fib, He was recorded saying that there were 500 codes available when the Oberths vanished in about 12 seconds and that next time they would have to ask for quite a few more.
The severe lag due to waaay to many people in that chat (and most of them spamming), made it impossible for about 80% of the folks to even try.

Do to some in accurate info given to me by my friends, I had made a pretty big accusation against Smirk and Trendy. Though they and others did make some mistakes, I have been told now that they DID IN FACT apologize. So in my last thread, I was actually in the wrong, and I apologize too. I am still somewhat upset and frustrated over what happened, but I'm not near as mad now as I was. And I want to thank askray for closing that thread. In fact you can delete it too and close this one so that people can see it, but no one can get into an argument here.
I would have posted this in that thread too, but it has already been closed. Sorry Smirk and Trendy. Sorry everyone. I do wish things had worked out better yesterday, but seems I too had bad info and over reacted.

I have only watched the last two Livestreams so far, and I must say-I'm not impressed. To say that they could have been handled better would be an understatement.
Chalk me up as another person who took the podcasters at their word that it would be an account-wide unlock and unlocked it on a sub-optimal character first.
Sorely disappointing livestream IMO, esp for one that apparently broke some record for folks watching at one time.

The RMC was for those who came last time. Last time we were supposed to get a C-store R&D pack, but they couldn't get them to function, and further they STILL haven't been able to get those codes operational, so we got the RMC instead.
Indeed, however, failure to verify is becoming a pattern.
Smirk may not be responsible for setting the parameters of the code, agreed. He is responsible fr not verifying the parameters of the code.
Given the TRIBBLE up with codes last time, wouldn't you think a little extra attention to detail would be warranted?
And while perhaps not as malicious as an outright lie, continued negligence is probably as culpable.
Welcome to the Cryptic way
Was this before or after the servers were down for at least an hour during the livestream?

I miss brainflakes !!
And I worry for the future of this game.

as it turned out my main has the rmc which works out correctly, just as well i was suspicious of what it was about. figure i would try find out what the others on esd were complaining about and i confirmed their misgivings about one per account when i tried to claim one on my newest toon flying the rycus kilran.

I would have posted this in that thread too, but it has already been closed. Sorry Smirk and Trendy. Sorry everyone. I do wish things had worked out better yesterday, but seems I too had bad info and over reacted.

Chalk me up as another person who took the podcasters at their word that it would be an account-wide unlock and unlocked it on a sub-optimal character first.
Sorely disappointing livestream IMO, esp for one that apparently broke some record for folks watching at one time.
