Plenty of people ranted at me during livestream for repeating myself (wording it differently each time to try to elicit a response) but I never did get an answer to the question about what happened to rewarding those of us watching last weeks' snaffu of a livestream and the R&D pack code we were promised. Don't get me wrong... I love gooey afterburn as much as the next Welshman but...
I understand the hard work Smirk put in, Hell I admire it (and Kate was a huge bonus (recognised her voice from somewhere so asked if she had done some VO and was answered with an affirmative!)), but to not give us the promised R&D code this week (and to say only that "we are sorry the code didn't work and we still can't get it to work") is poor in terms of fulfilling promises and making loyal customers feel valued.
I tuned in, and enjoyed the broadcast, but the codes they did give out were first-come-first-served for ?many out of the 3500 of us (out of HOW many hundreds of thousands that actually play?) and the lag meant those of us outside mainland USA were SOL.
I am forced to wonder, despite Smirk's affirmations that they were still looking into the R&D pack codes and a future livestream giving them away, that the addition of upgrade items to the R&D pack was a factor in this weeks' failure to give them away.
I appreciate that Cryptic/PWE have given us the RMC for free today but considering it was advertised as an account wide unlock If you're going to make the RMC one per account at least make it bind to account!
At least that way we could equip it on whichever character needs/would benefit from it most!
EDIT: I don't suppose if we discard the RMC that we could then reclaim it on another character, still only one per account?
I can confirm I discarded it on my alt I didn't want and couldn't claim it on my main said I already hand one so killed the client now and relaunching it.
so I've now lost the RMC that is bound to one char and can not reclaim it on anyone but my alt I don't want it on, wonderbar. nope I can NOT even reclaim it on that unique char I grabbed it with.
so its lost on my account but says I can only claim one.
If you look at the in-game "C-Store" -> "Items" -> "Red Matter Capacitor - Promotional (Collector's Edition Item)" it doesn't actually tell you that it's a single-item unlock. Did those of you Claiming it already have the Collector's Edition, or does it simply not warn you that you should have it on the correct character?
Well, mine doesn't say anything about being a single-item unlock. I hesitate to test since I have a number of mains and I still haven't decided on my single main for Delta Rising....
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I did not have access to RMC before today. the c-store didn't warn me at all. as stated above I've tried discarding it and now lots it on all my toons and can not reclaim it as I see this

Exactly. That's what I said a few pages back and that's what I said a week ago in the last livestream thread. They spent a week hyping this week's event after the last one was such a disaster to which they never answered to. Then they get a record turnout, on some awesome giveaway promises, and they didn't even know what they were giving away. And do you know what they'll do to correct it? Nothing. They'll promise more next time and fail again. And some idiots will keep tuning in.
I have a two strike rule. TRIBBLE me once, maybe it was a mistake do it again and I know it wasn't. It's a pattern of behaviour. People who keep expecting it to change are fools.
All i know is that I logged into twitch on my iPhone because I wasnt home. I get the codes. When I get home, the codes don't work. So I wasted my data plan on this one event so that I can be screwed on the codes. This is not customer service of any kind but bad. And I am so pissed right now I could spit fire. This is the first game that I spent more that $50 on. And this is the first game I am starting to think I wasted my money and time on. I have a lifetime subscription and I am beginning to wish I hadn't bought it.
Tonight was an awesome stream BUT, in future... Could you guys please enable the Stream/Video quality settings? The stream kept stuttering and stopping and a lot of us kept missing the best bits.
I'm really looking forward to next week and I'd also like to say... Thanks ever so much for tonight's awesome giveaways!!!
Despite the complicated live-stream today, last week's issues, & this morning's Holodeck's roll-back STO is still plodding along ... at least till the next sun-spot hits. Seems Delta Rising is careening into anything & everything that is STO causing hiccups here & there.
Today's live-stream was not without a hitch, but was informative, a bit more revealing, & entertaining.
Major thanks to Trendy & Smirk as usual & thanks to Kate aka Shelana, there was another guy too, sorry I forgot his name, but he did the pizza countdown.
It was a LONG LONG live-stream with numerous prizes. Some prizes were rewarded to all, well one prize was, while the broadcast was active & some prizes expired within 15 seconds like an unarmed person in the middle of a zombie horde. Then of course they had the traditional raffling of prizes as well including the normal staples of Zen. The grandest prizes included: an Alienware Tact X keyboard ... drats ... & multiple Delta Rising Operations Packs ... multiple drats galore.
Despite difficult times today for STO it seemed Trendy & Smirk, along with the others, worked hard for a pretty good broadcast today. if I remember correctly the viewership went over 3K too.
Thanks to Kate Bankson for joining us today! It was a lot of fun to run through the event with you
Hope everyone who joined to watch the show and learn about the upcoming content enjoyed themselves. It was great running around the Delta Quadrant with all those ships and fireworks.
We apologize for the delay and for Holodeck's unexpected downtime today. We wish the Dev team the best for working hard to bring it back online so quickly.
Congrats to our winners from today's stream, and to everyone who was able to redeem the codes for the Section 31 Promo uniform and the Oberth promo ship, you sure have some fast fingers!
For the RMC Promo winners, we apologize for the confusion about the single character unlock versus the account wide unlock from today's code. This is not a bug and is working as intended, so I hope those who redeemed the code unlocked it on their best/favorite character first.
Thanks again to everyone who took part in our viewer participation goals, and we hope to see you again in future livestreams.
if I remember correctly the viewership went over 3K too.
Given the 'confusion' over the RMC codes, the new 'limited issue' codes, I dont think I'll be bothering again.
The livestream parts are ok, the presentation certainly not too offensive, but the continuing issues with prize codes and the apparent ignorance of what they've actually been given is becoming a problem.
changing the RMC code to be a single unlock..... I'm not even going to type that thought out fully since it would most likely lead to a ban, suffice it to say its a bad way to go, unless your planning to add it to the c-store which I have a feeling is rather likely.
also the limited number method is also rather bad due to stream lag.
other than those two issues it was a pretty decent stream although it would have been nice to see a bit more combat in the romulan & klingon ships

I do understand its working as intended. so if dismissed its complete not reclaimable correct? I don't want to waste a time for filing a ticket if its procedure this way.
and smirk it was a great show, in now way do I feel this code fiasco was anyones fault that was involved with today's stream it was very entertaining.
All the codes given out during the stream are now either redeemed to their limit or cut off.
Sadly, these code were posted in the Forums, on Reddit and Twitter without the information that they would only be limited redemption or made inactive after the show went off the air.
Sorry that this info wasn't passed out by the users who shared the code while we were broadcasting.
In the future we will make sure to utilize the raffle system more exclusively.
Hopefully the next time we livestream it won't be when you are working

Be very careful with your RMC! If you discard it you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PICK UP ANOTHER EVEN ON THE SAME CHARACTER.
As a long standing player and subscriber of sto from the beginng ( i bought the delux digital edition) i very rarely post in the forums ect but felt i had to reply on this subject!
i was unfortunatly unable to participate in the live stream today as per usual they happen when im in work
But i was rather disturbed by all the chatter on the sto facebook page about the give aways codes tonight ....especialy the one about the delta pack give away if it reached 3k viewers .....this was highly missleading as the facebook post stated that it everyone that logged onto the live stream would recive a code for the delta pack so everyone thought they would get a delta pack ....when in fact there were only something like 5 available ....there were a lot of upset and very angry folks on the facebook thread ....may i suggest that in future whoever is in charge of the facebook posts for start trek online please look at how they word things for future promotions like this as it was very missleading .....also i have noticed that since the livefeed finished the post has been updated to remove the wording " everyone" ....unfortunatly this is only going to enforce the feeling now with all those players that this was nothing more than a lure to get them to participater in the live feed!
please could someone at least post an apologie on the facebook page to everyone for this rather unfortunate and missleading choice of words concerining the 3k delta pack give away on facebook as you have a lot of upset and angry players on your hands
For the RMC Promo winners, we apologize for the confusion about the single character unlock versus the account wide unlock from today's code. This is not a bug and is working as intended, so I hope those who redeemed the code unlocked it on their best/favorite character first.
A lot of us redeemed them on the wrong characters thinking they would be account-wide.
From the looks of it, you guys weren't even aware it was a single character unlock until we started claiming them.
I can't accept your apology. Your misinformation ended up being an annoyance. And you're not even willing to fix your mistakes. This tells a lot about the company, but perhaps I shouldn't be surprised.
On the one hand free stuff is free stuff, and we get what we get.
On the other hand I would be lying if I said this wasn't damned frustrating.
On the RMC issues, it is fair that it is a single character unlock. However it was stated, multiple times, in the stream that it was an account unlock. I can understand that the information was wrong, but in my opinion a company should follow through on what it says. Its not like it would have broken the game, or even cost PW anything, to give what was promised. Thinking it was account wide like it was stated, I claimed it on the first character I logged in with, which turns out to be a mistake.
On the limited redemption codes, I still think something shady was going on there. If I was too slow to enter a code, then I accept that, but I find that hard to imagine since in both cases I entered the code into Arc in less than 5 seconds after it was posted. Further more, if the issue was redemption limits then why were the errors given on the two codes *different* errors? Code #1 said it was an "Invalid Code", copy pasted from chat and verified no spaces. Code #2 said "Unable to deliver items. Please log in to STO". That last error is the same error we had on Thursday when the code server was fubared. I'm thinking that the code server was overloaded from too many people at once, in which case the whole limited thing is pretty wrong.
Anyway I don't say these things to be harsh, they are just how I felt after this. It made me very frustrated.
Not to mention that as a brand new player to the game, I was very sad to be hitting major spoilers on content that I haven't yet experienced yet (surface tension).

I didn't see the Facebook post so I can't comment on misleading wording or not, but really. Did you honestly think they were going to give away over three thousand $150 packs for free? Misleading or not, common sense alone should have made you question it.
Don't bother writing more than a sentence or so in relation to the misinformation about the RMC the epic failure of the last live stream or the fact that users (the paying customers) are being regularly lied to buy the product provider (Cryptic). CS or Trendy will just run behind you and delete your posts or close the discussions.
I'm sure this one will be gone soon too. It would make 4.

For any future intended single character unlock items, could you at least include text in the item's description that warns you before rather than after claiming them that they are single character unlocks. The current unlock I have sitting in my C-Store (I haven't decided on one main out of several for DR yet) has no indication that it is, or is intended to be, a single character unlock. Thank you to those others in the Livestream that found the problem before I did, though at the same time you have my sympathy.
Also, could the News specify when anomalies such as the single character unlock RMC are going to be released to prevent unpleasant surprises?
This version of the RMC was especially problematic with the precedent of prior versions being account-wide. The further precedent of single character unlocks being account-wide (i.e. the Polytrinic Acid Horta, T5 Ambassador) when provided as giveaway items further obfuscates the issue and leads to "confusion" where changes like the single character unlock RMC are concerned. It will be a nice free thing to have, but being a single character unlock that is BtC vastly diminishes its utility, especially for those that had no warning that it was a single character unlock.
Honestly, I'd be happy if I could just buy the darn thing in the C-Store... as an account unlock, of course.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
The event was a disappointment. I obviously didn't learn my lesson from watching the last one.
Essentially, you get to watch someone else play the game while hoping that you'll get a cool prize from redeeming a code or spamming the Twitch channel with a word. Only after you find out that the gear you might have acquired has some sort of caveat attached to its use do you receive an apology. There is no mention of the previous award for watching the previous event. Long time players get upset because they spent money on a similar item that others received for free. Players that received the item discover they can only use it on one character and it isn't reclaimable. Additional codes are supposedly distributed for items, but magically those items become unavailable in the split second after announcing the codes. Then the hosts arbitrarily give out DR packs and Zen in limited amounts. Someone points out that a Facebook post contradicts the limit on giveaways and the post is subsequently edited for content, but there is no response to this criticism.
Twitch is a poor client to use for these events. The video continuously locks up. No one can read what is going on in the chat window because of the spamming, and in slow mode users end up having to wait out the timer before they can post additional comments.
Here are some suggestions:
1) Stop running the word spam giveaways. See if there is an alternative way to pick random winners in the channel that are logged in with usernames.
2) Don't give away codes that don't allow all of the participants to acquire the items. It's unfair and breeds resentment.
3) Plan how long the event is going to run and follow the plan. If it's two hours, then it ends two hours after it starts.
4) Check ahead of time to make sure everything you are doing and everything you are giving away works as intended.
5) Word announcements and releases carefully so there is little if any chance for misunderstanding.
6) If you promise something, then deliver it. Apologies do not make up for failures.
It comes down to whether or not the experience of the event can be improved. I think it can be better with more effort, but at this point I'm not sure I would take more time to log in and see.
