The Kobali are under attack? Good. Sign me up.

To me, the Kobali are the most disgusting thing in the entire Star Trek Canon, utterly repugnant. The idea of acually friending these evil, demonic monsters is ridiculous.

The thought of Kobali literally makes me feel sick to my stomach. I am quite curious how a morally sound federation can justify helping these necromancers from a story-lore perspective, and I dearly hope none of the events in this zone will be 'necessary' - because I want no part of it.

that, i assumed the OP was complaining about the lack of a ker'rat style ground zone

    I definetly was not.

The problem with Otha it is too far away, and nothing around. You need OpenPvP Zones near SocialZones and PvEZones. No one really enters Otha by chance.

Otha is only useful if you want to grind items or the queues are empty and luckily someone else is around there.

Never bothered to post in forum before, but I'm curios as to whether we have to fight for the Kobali or if we can go against them ? They are a reprehensible, vile, grave robbing society..basically the dark necromancers of Star Trek. So why would the feds be helping them out of all the conflicts going in in that region of space ? If Starfleet Command has made a devils bargain with this repugnant society to gain access to their life extending technologies then be upfront about it.

I would much rather be on the side of the race that has gotten fed up with this.."species"..stealing their dead. The Kobali live by a might makes right mentality and take whatever they want so I say we ravage their planet and take their tech.

OR it could be that whatever is attacking these evil things... is even worse than they are. Maybe it'd be like say... saving the old RSE from being assimilited by the Borg. Where by stopping these new baddies from killing the Kobali might make whatever the new thing even worse then it is now, or put it in a position to attack other worlds that we might actually care about.

Ooh, I hope I get to take out some Kobali. I haven't decided yet to patch to Tribble to eventually test this zone, but the prospect of taking some out might be enough to get me to do it. In any case, Kobali give me all the creeps. Ptooey! I spit in their general direction.

ETA: Meh, nevermind, just read some of the livestream thread. Can I help the Vaadwaur? :D

So, does it reward greed and selfishness, like the Voth BZ does?

My problem with there adventures zones is that they are pretty much incompatible with telling a story with a plot, there will always be a war of Kobali because new players needing to complete the story. I would rather they put there time and efforts in fill up the Delta Quadrant with missions which has a story with a beginning middle and End than a adventure zone which goes nowhere even when you have personally wipe out the few thousand Vaadwaur that survive the last time they declared war on the quadrant several dozen time over. :P

My issue here is the baddies invadeing the Kobali, I can't spell the name sorry, I did some research and frankly how would they have the numbers and the tech to do this type of massive invasion that would be a large enough threat to the galaxy at large that the alliance would want to save the Kobali? I guess I have to wait for the release and find out the story and I hope it's done well and explaines this cuz as it is now I just don't get it.

Also another problem was that the whole expedition to Delta Quadrant is set up as a intelligence gathering operation with specialist ships to carry out that operation with the introduction of cloaking technology for federation ships to allow them to join the operation undetected, intervening the Kobali war seem to go directly against that mission as does the Que missions announce so far.

It might have been interesting if the Kobali were seeking help from the Delta Alliance... but also growing their populace with the deceased members from those factions. There would be conflict between stopping the Vaadwaur, as well as the Kobali...

Then again, if this was happening, there wouldn't be a motivation to defend the Kobali.

I agree with fireseeed and others. Superb points.

And, to add to the conversation: Like the Voth BZ, this Kobali BZ is going to fizzle fast unless Cryptic adds some friendly NPCs to the mix (to assist in empty battlezone areas, help neutralize the enemy).

There's almost nothing worse in STO than entering a BZ (Battle Zone), fighting alone, and unable to accomplish anything from the lack of players... Example: Join the Voth Ground BZ during weekdays to see what I mean. Waste of time... And now MORE of this content-type is being added...

On the positive side, I like the design of the Kobali BZ. (At least what I've explored so far.)
