Phased biomatter looks like Plasma. Biophasers look like disruptors. make them all ORANGE. orange beam, pules them for the biomattter and maybe throw in the same thread effect AP has for the 8472 bio phasers. but make them the same color, please. I hate my ships looking like skittle boats

one: no because some like have good rainbow boat.
two: skittles are trops with different colors not beam. if you gonna hate at least get the naming right.
three: if you hate it pick one.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

A: No. Its how we can tell what KIND of weapon we're facing. Also... it adds variety.
B: RAINBOW SKITTLES THAT WORKS AS THEY ARE THE SAME DAMAGE TYPE!
C: Like the person above me said. Pick a particular variant and use that. You don't have to mix and match.

Simple solution... Don't mix your phaser types, otherwise, you're gonna have to live with it...

/powerhue colour chart
/powerhue <x> <y> - Changes the colour of your energy weapons and powers, <x> must be 0 and <y> a number between 0-360 that dictates the color.
I understand the need to differentiate the used weapon by colour in a video game, but I agree that especially phasers get "shafted" when you like to use those since all other weapons keep their tone with all their variants. You can hardly tell a nanite disruptor from a bio-disruptor or the tetryon and polaron variants from each other.
Phasers though look completely different in every flavour. They should either be all orange with a slight tint of a different colour or (since blue, red, green and orange phasers are all canon) have an option to change it's appearance, maybe via crafting. After all, the beam's colour should only depend on the chosen wavelength, the proc is something different (aside from the biomatter proc which tries to make us believe that the ships are actually spitting blue snot through space. Cryptic really didn't get the idea of a biomatter weapon, which is supposed to have a living power source, not spit snot around).

as far as the other comments.. why would I waste the DIL buying 8472 beams when I can get biomatter beams cheap on the exchange? I don't mind variations, but really, 4 distinctly different colors is a bit much
Have to say, given that the various variants of plasma, polaron and disruptor share a colour, its is a bit strange that phasers didnt get the same treatment.
didnt it have more to do with PVP players not being able to identify what just shot them?
which is silly because the energy has different forms, tetryon doesn't look like a phaser, nor plasma looks like a polaron, and there are the debuffs/effects which give away its identity.
Personally, I don't care if my ship shoots rainbows from each phaser and launches unicorns from its torpedo bay. I care that when I shoot at something, that I hit it...and that eventually that it falls down, dead. Beyond that I have few concerns
I think a simple "disable visuals" option like we see on many other items of gear would be helpful to this issue.
In this instance disabling the visual turns your weapons colour to a default colour for that energy type.
Regarding PVP yes you might not be able to see the individual procs to the weapon firing at you l(aside from the special proc colors you cant anyway), you will still know which energy type is firing at you.

The Tetryon variants don't look alike. Phased Tetryon is cyan, and Destabilizing Tetryon is white.
Elachi beams are a pale green, and they're disruptors.
Phased Polaron looks like purple phasers, while Dominion Polaron is a pretty cool light violet or magenta? beam.

You have andorian and blue phasers, that is two more types than any other energy type gets. So what basis do you ask for special treatement for phasers?
Frankly, I never got why they changed colour in the show, anyway.
I keep picturing some committee, somewhere, at some time between TOS and TNG, sitting down and saying to itself, "OK, so, those ravening beams of utter annihilation that we use on our starships? Our focus group says they need to be a warmer, friendlier colour. Thoughts, anyone?"

That's a joke right? As it stands there are only 3 different types of phaser and 4 different colors. Andorian phasers are just standard fleet phasers but they are blue.
Disruptor is the is the damage type with the most variation. You have standard, nanite, elachi, polarized, bio-molecular, spiral wave, and then there is plasma disruptors from the story line.

Amen to that!

Aye...you see...the Devs are only living up to Canon and making them Phasers various colors because they were various colors throughout Canon!
which is silly because the energy has different forms, tetryon doesn't look like a phaser, nor plasma looks like a polaron, and there are the debuffs/effects which give away its identity.
its pretty much "muh immersion".

I'm confused. Do you really support this? Cuz talking like Jar Jar seems to me the #1 way to intentionally undermine credibility...
