for me the new incoming fed T6 escourt is let down by one thing... just a normal cloak=meh
after all these years and the fact kdf/rom and fed are in a so called alliance you would think fed techs have the brains to put battle cloaks on there ships.
Yes, absolutely. All players only need one faction anyway, this variety thing is over rated to begin with. Balance should win out over any other consideration and it will make Cryptic's job far easier to only have to design three ships for the entire game. Besides, this is Star Trek, not Klingon Trek or Romulan Trek, who needs any sort of differences between factions and game mechanics that make them annoyingly unique?
Sorry, I was saving up my sarcasm all year and it all just slipped out...

This is almost as bad as the Endgame Connie threads.
And since we're going into T6 ships, I'm now identifying T5 Connie threads as Endgame Connie threads because its the same thing, wanting a viable Connie at Endgame.
It's been a while for one of these to pop up, it was only a matter of time.
I was hoping my P-EBC for Feds thread would get locked just so I could link it into threads like this. I do find it very rich that part of the Fed playerbase has been demanding cloaks for years, and now they finally get them, they decide actually they don't want cloaks after all.
Yeah. It's definitely time that the federation gained cloaking devices. Real ones. If they're going to give them to us (which they apparently are) then they may as well have the same mechanics as all the other cloaking devices. Anything else is just plain silly both in terms of game mechanics and lore.
And for those that claim that the federation doesn't use cloaking devices - there have been episodes showing that they were working on it regardless, and the treaty preventing them from using cloaking devices was with the Romulans.. they're not exactly in any position to be telling the federation what tech they can and can't use anymore, especially when we've got Romulans allied with the federation.

Um... for the most part, they DO have the same mechanics as most other cloaks. The KDF has mostly standard Cloaks themselves.
 That's it...I want a T6 Connie with built in Enhanced Battle Cloak, built in Valdore Console, 6 Fore Weapons, and 2 Hangar Bays that can launch JHAS and TMW Frigate Pets.
Hey now, the federation was working on PHASE cloaking last we heard. So why give them battle cloaks, let's just give them the ability to literally climb out of the woodworks! That makes sense, right?
 That's it...I want a T6 Connie with built in Enhanced Battle Cloak, built in Valdore Console, 6 Fore Weapons, and 2 Hangar Bays that can launch JHAS and TMW Frigate Pets.
Add in the fact it is only usable by Federation characters you may just get it!

I want mine to have a built in cloaked barrage as well, and to fire whileat full impulse.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.
STO is turning into nothing more that a single faction wearing a different uniforms and shooting at each other.
That is the problem with trying to please everyone. You end up with a pot-luck game full 200 year-old ships flying next to 1 year old ships.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
All Federation ships get built in Battle Phase Cloak
All Klingon ships get built-in Battle Cloaks that allow torpedoes to be fired
All Romulans get built-in Battle Scimitar Cloaks that allow shields up
Thus begins the age of Star Cloak Online...
We would show you a trailer but nothing would be in it...

I think its way over due imo...

How do I put this simply?
Oh, I know. No.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Well, in fairness giving everyone cloaks SHOULD be an option IF Cryptic wanted to properly explore the aspect of Hunter / Prey as part of more dynamic combat sub-class.
Unfortunately, STO is about as dynamic as a brick and Cryptic sure don't have the competence to change that.
The best STO can manage for new ship innovations is to add a console or an extra slot.
Expecting this game to try and capture the kind of dynamics like submarine / covert ops would be insane.

Nooooooo. If you want a battecloam, roll a klingon or Romulan.
The foundation has been set at least to give Federation ships a cloaking device. Of course they cannot hand out Battle Cloaks just at the start. They need to save something for later to sell.

Not everything needs to be on a fed ship.
Feds have plenty of toys... they don't need one of the only things that makes the other factions unique.
Also just a FYI there isn't an escort in the game with battle cloak no matter the faction.

Yep, only BoP cloaks are battle-cloaks for KDF. And some KDF ships don't have any cloak.
Add in the fact it is only usable by Federation characters you may just get it!

They ready to move on washington protesting the clear lore violations with the cloak going on here

Bleh...I hope they never add that as an ability to the game. Firing at full impulse would be a terrible thing to have.

Well. it would ONLY be the feds that have it, so it's okay.
