STO launcher stuck

After downloading and patching the game, the launcher doesn't seem to let me login, it's stuck on "Loading please wait." I've played the game before but this issue made me quit thinking it would sort itself out after a while, seems like it did not.

Anyone experiencing the same problem. Better yet anyone have a solution?

I'm pretty sure it's due to connectivity issues to the server. Every time I can login (after minutes of waiting for the launcher to do it's thing) it DCs.

Did you run any of the tests in http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155 to make 100% sure?

If so could you please paste those results.

I have a cryptic crash error each time I try to connect.

It started yesterday and I wasn't able to connect until 2 hours ago, I played for an hour without problem.
But now I am unable to connect, again.

I run the tests and the connexion is all right. Im in Switzerland.

Mine times out but there isn't anything wrong with my ISP connection is excellent here I make sure of it. If the ISP is down I can tell. Tracing the ims to see if what the problem is would need to have something running in the background while the event is happening. In my case it's more random since the last major patch.

I was near the end of Foundry mission where I lost connection to the patch server. After 3 attempts again I was able to get in and complete the FM. So again random issues on and off again.

Hi, I have run all the tests recommended in your post askray. The results all lead to successful connection to the patch server. This does still not resolve the launcher not loading, is there another server address that could be faulty?

This fault is really annoying unable to login to STO for a week now.

~~ I tracert and ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com but it resolves to patchserver2@crypticstudios.com.........could this be the fault, connecting to a bad patch server??

This is much too high a network latency value for the first hop after your modem/gateway.... (values should be less then 40 ms...)

Reboot/Power Cycle your Modem/Gateway and see if this improves the condition. If it doesn't, then you should contact your ISP Tech support and have them send someone out to take a look at the unit...

Your network latency is greater then the recommended upper limit of 180 ms according to the 'Trace Route' (congestion in the Trans-Pacific cable link?)

It also appears that your ISP is blocking the protocol that 'Path Ping' uses, which leaves you no other choice then to contact your ISP Tech Support and request their assistance in diagnosing your connection issue to the STO Servers...

For me the issue was that the STO launcher couldn't update. I had to the Cryptic folder in programs, select it, and deactivate "Read Only." After that it worked fine. Must be some issue with ARC since I re-installed recently and had to do it through them.

i had the exact same problem, i used launcher's options-proxy-eu for disconnecting issues and now i fixed launcher not updating/not starting game issue by right click on shortcut-properties-compatibility-advanced-run as admin for all users CHECKED

    10 minutes later...
right now im updating- aaand its stuck, several times restarted(pressed cancel and just wait) just to get the update, near its %99 it lost connection (error 14) . whew

    5 minutes later..
and now i selected eu as updating proxy on launcher and restarted it.

    2 minutes later
SUCESSS! i just entered select character screen

Ohnoes nasty error messages, ok just continue come on baby

    YEss! entered da game
wait ... wut? what the LAG is this?? /netstat 1 command shows about 1100 for ping! darn it im on proxy server! just yesterday it was fine-about 120-200 for ping

AAAnd it throwed me to the login screen!
lots of disconnections , netstat lowered to 400 still lagging as heck

well so far so ...umm cryptic :D
i suppose they r doing a emergency maintenance and / or their eu proxy just cant handle the traffic atm.

    2 minutes later...
    gonna try w/o proxy now
hmm things go better than expected.. intruig-...
ah gee my characters are NOT loading...

    3 minutes later...
ok so ill try last time with proxy...aaand its same as above.. :(

    Dear Cryptic,
Would you kindly take DOWN your severs(including login, update, proxy and main game) and do a full maintenance until these problems resolve.

I had this same problem after the update, but the program finally came up after a reboot of the computer (and ignoring the game support). These glitches seem to be rather common now with each update. My system was totally stable yesterday... so figure.

since the last big update everything was just fine, but after that everything just went downhill. Game wouldn't log in or when it logged the lag was awful, so i uninstall the game and now i cant even download the damned thing it starts downloading, or patching, or whatever but at a speed that will take at least 100 years to finish. I really enjoyed the game but i'm not gonna bother anymore with it at least not until this problem is resolved. I'm also not gonna bother my ISP provider as you recommend all the time, simply because my internet connection is just fine i play several online games and have absolutely no problem with any other game. :(

My launcher launched but will not login saying it cannot link account to linking server. So I submitted a ticket. I could check my internet with those tests but my question is why would it log me into perfect world just fine.. I can play that game just fine but not Star trek???? Seems to me that perfect world wouldn't work if it was a problem with my systems. I could be wrong but I have used many other games it just seems unfortunate since I've always loved star trek.

Mine is a laptop as well, but it just isn't cooperative. I would rather play on a desktop but that will have to wait. I'm just surprised that very few individuals have said anything about what I've mentioned. Thanks for the input.:o;)

I too get the 'loading..please wait' screen, and way back when the original networking issues troubleshooting thread was still open, posted my nettest, pathping, and tracert..its something to do with cogentco or that other backbone provider whose name eludes me.

has anyone posted what ISP they're with?
I know verizon(my isp) is still in a protracted argument with cogentco..

Same here! Started with NEW Patch. I ran in safe mode and verified files. I still have the same problem. NW and CO both work great (as does Widlstar, WOW, and Marvel Heroes). Launch and boots up I see the cryptic screen it loads to about 45% stops then the program becomes nonresponsive. Why does this happen ONLY to STO??
