With the T6 ships coming soon, can I put in a request to get a T6 Miranda? One of the main frontline ships for the Federation, it would make sense to have an updated version to send to the frontlines!
Maybe it's just me but...the Miranda is a Mid-23rd-century design.
Why would it be a top-tier ship by 2410? Shouldn't it be an older, low-level semi-obsolete ship?
It makes sense to me.
Same goes for the Constitution class IMO.
Haven't heard anything about CBS saying no to Tier 5 or 6 Mirandas, but it likely falls under FCT. It sets a dangerous precedent about letting other Tier 1 Starfleet ships available at Tier 5 or 6. Just easier for Cryptic to not open that bag of worms.
I completely understand the logic behind the argument that the Miranda class is old so it shouldn't be an end-game ship, but I don't care.
STO takes place 30+ years after ST: Nemesis so that means the Galaxy class and Nebula class ships are 40+ years old and the Intrepid and Nova classes are like 30-40 years old as well but those are offered as end-game ships ... and don't even get me started on the Excelsior.
Every canon ship in the game can be considered an outdated hunk of junk.
The bottom line is that this game is STAR TREK Online and most of the players came here to Captain the starships we saw on TV and in the movies. As much as I appreciate new ships that are original creations of the Cryptic team, I'm here because of the ships from the Star Trek TV shows and movies.
In my humble opinion EVERY canon ship that was seen in Trek TV shows and films should be available as an end-game ship.
Now that the devs are going to offer a way to "upgrade" lower level ships to T6 quality there is no reason to deny the Miranda the "option" of being upgraded ... unless CBS says no for some weird reason like they did with the Constitution class (the original 1701).
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
KDF - their T1 ship has T5 versions, and you might argue it is one of the best BoPs going in STO.
Rom - The T'varo, a 22nd century Warbird in origin as two are seen in ST:ENT, has Fleet, C-Store and Mirror T5 versions.
2 of 3 factions have T5 versions of of their T1s, and for KDF and Rom both have special Enhanced Battle Cloaks for extra specialness.
Its the Feds who lose out on toys for once.
Really, the Feds are losing out on toys for once? Starfleet has 74 Starships at Tier 5 and 5.5. The KDF have 50 Starships at Tier 5 and 5.5. The Romulans have 34 Starships at Tier 5 and 5.5. The counts includes all ships available at these Tiers, Mirror ships, Fleet Ships, Retrofit Ships, C-Store variants, and Triple Bundle variants. The Romulans and KDF need all the help they can get to have more ships.
Besides the circumstances of the Romulans, KDF, and Starfleet are completely different. The Romulans had to start from scratch or modernize old relics, the KDF are not known for building a ton of new ships, and Starfleet has known of these concerns.

Canon ships have a big fan base, it does not matter if they are old or not people want to fly the real Trek ships they love and they know.
We have ship designs from the 22nd Century (Klingon Somraw, Xindi Aquatic Dreadnought, Xindi Escort, Romulan T'varo, Vulcan D'Kyr) and 23rd Century (Klingon D7, Klingon K'tinga, Starfleet Excelsior, Klingon B'rel).
Not to mention ships from another timeline or another universe, or ships we were never supposed to fly like all of the Lockbox ships and soon fake Starfleet ships as well (Dauntless class).
So why can't people who want to fly a Miranda fly the ship they love and don't forget canon has abandoned the game when it was released.

The Miranada, the Oberth, the NX, and any other ship you can think of, at any tier you can think of, do not fall under the very narrow scope of the T5 Connie discussion that is in the FCT.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Even if we eventually got to the point of having T7 ships, these will come up because "Well they said no to T5..." loophole.
If its endgame level... Connies, Oberths, NXs, and Mirandas will probably still be off the market. I wouldn't mind a T5 Exeter or Excalibur, but since they're tied to the Constitution... we're screwed.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

It's not a loophole. There's been no mention, ever, by anyone at Cryptic, about a higher tier Miranda (and its other skins). Ever. Not one single comment.
There's no loophole here.
People are interested in a higher tier Miranda. Those people ask about it from time to time.

It's 2410, the T1 ships should have been Sovereign, Defiant, Intrepid, Akira, Prometheus, Nova, Rhode Island, Norway, and Steamrunner.
Maybe offer older ships as C-Store T1.5 ships for doffing or RP or something.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

you heretic! imagine miranda class ships defeating the scimmy :P. t6 miranda ftw!
It would be a sight to behold!
The KDF have and endgame version of their T1 ship in the B'rel. The Rommies have the T'varo. It would make sense to have an endgame Miranda, even if it is T5.
I guess a T6 version would need to be a touch bigger, could the T1 ship model handle 8 weapon slots worth of firepower?
When Fleet ships first came out (Refit and Retrofit), one of the questions asked was whether any of the T1 ships (Miranda, Oberth, etcc) would get their versions. The answer from Dshathl back then was no, which is why fleet ships start at T2 and up (excluding the Constitution Refit/Exeter).
With that design in place, I won't get my hopes up on getting a T6 Miranda. Still, playing STO in only a T1 Miranda have been surprising challenging and amusing...

i cant see any reason why not, 8 weapon slots and a special ability from the mission pod with 50k hull, 1.3 shield modifier, hull turn rate of 12. fun times. t6 miranda ftw!

maybe you havent been paying attention the last few years, but we are in 2014 not back where ever you are at. stahl is gone and the same with his crazy ideas, that includes his opinions. things change they always do.

Askray, I think we've got another addition for the "not happening, quit asking" thread.

The only reason the Miranda is on the front line is because it is cheap cannon fodder. I want new ships, it is the future of startrek, why is everyone wanting to run into the past?

I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
Nope only the T5 TOS Conie.
