It really does. Great shot. So you finally managed to get the demo launcher working?
Yes by having to launch it using the demo editing only (little box shows up with the option, to play/take photos), and not by using it to launch normally.
None of the advise anyone gave worked, so I managed to find a way to get it to work by myself.

When you are in the demorecorder instead of using /setregionfov ground and /setregionfov space you can just use the command /fov #
Press <F2> to get into free camera mode. Press the <tilde> key on your keyboard. That's the key to left of the #1 key on the board. The input console appears on the screen. You can use the console just as you use the chat bar in the game to get screenshots.
/fov # - Field of View (Most of the time I use 20)
/time # - (24 hour clock) - For example on Risa or Bajor, you can change with the /time command the state of the sun or moon. Sunset /time 19 - Noon /time 12 and so on. This significantly affect the lighting and of course the quality of the image.

I too have been wondering how to do that for quite some time. I knew about F2 for the freecam, but never knew about how to use the console commands in the demorecorder. Thanks!

Question tho, is it possible to render scale in demo record??? and if so, how would you go about fixing the Anti-aliasing problem creating black screenshots and possibly crashing the client??? Good info btw!!

I don't have a solution for the Anti-aliasing problem. Just for taking screenshots, you could switch to DX9 to get shots with AA, but I'm not sure.
You can use the /renderscale command in demorecord just like you would use it in the game
/renderscale #
/renderscale 1 is the default setting for the game. If you're playing with a resolution of 1920x1080 and you take a screenshot with that setting, the image will have a size of 1920x1080 pixels. /renderscale 1 is always equal to your native resolution and the shot will be at that resolution.
/renderscale 2 (recommended setting) doubles the resolution (1920x1080 = 3840x2160 pixels) and /renderscale 3 triples the resolution (1920x1080 = 5760x3240 pixels) and so on. Higher render scales will stress your system and may crash the client or worse.
In demorecord, open the console with <tilde>. Use the /renderscale 2 command. Take the shot with /screenshot <name> or /screenshot_jpg <name> and after that use the /renderscale 1 command to return to your native resolution.

The only solution I know is to play with anti-aliasing always turned off. The graphics aren't the best, but then I use a keybind to change my renderscale every time I want to take a good screenshot. The keybind won't work in the demorecorder, but the anti-aliasing should still be turned off when you load it up.
Give it a couple of years and you will miss it no more?
That said, I think I like the YT-1300 picture best. Which, funnily enough, makes me think about the thing I'm looking forward to most - experiencing JTL for the first time.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
Me too. SWG was so awesome for its time. Before the darkness, before someone decided the NGE is something all players are waiting for, I really enjoyed that game. Even after the CU, it was still good. SWG and Dark Age of C are still my favorites. I wish, the STO team would copy&paste the crafting system from old SWG

Well, I can't miss something I never encountered, but based on what I've seen in the emulator, I think I can stand behind your crafting idea.

Imagine fleets would explore planets and colonize them, setting up self-built machines on them to harvest resources, and from these resources, they would build ships, buildings, equipment, clothing (uniforms and civilian) and everything else you can imagine. That was crafting in SWG and if we had something like that in STO, it would be a golden age not only for Ferengi, but for everyone, hehe.
Dude, I'm not starting a Starbase to make a ship. That's Starfleet's business. From what I saw in SWG, crafting was hell. Oh, you *definitely* got something from it though. AND it did make sense as system, no doubt about it.
Funny, if someone wants to make a ship look like "Star Trek", beam weapons are used.
But nevertheless cannons rule the game...
Isn't it strange?

I typicaly use Renderscale .5 or .75, except when taking screenshots, in which case I'll often turn it up to 1.5 or 2.

I find that you have to use the console command to save as a tga file. I can't recall the command off the top of my head, but I know it's on the wiki.
cannons have not been the 'in' thing in over a year
Cryptics devs designed STO around Escorts and Cannon Weapons.
It's only a matter of time until brainless-FAW-dmg-number-race, gets nerfed.
My point was that Star Trek ships 95% use Beam weapons, until someone in charge thinks that's "uncool".
Some Trek fans will still want their ships to use beam weapons, because it's one of those things that is typical for Star Trek.

Funny, if someone wants to make a ship look like "Star Trek," beam weapons are used.
I simply go by ship size. Both of my Engineers fly Jem'Hadar Dreadoughts, and such a slow-moving ship is better with beams. My XindiBorg Escort uses cannons, and is absolutely devastating with them. Here is a simple rule of thumb. Flying space stations = beams. Small escorts = cannons. Easy enough to remember.
I find that you have to use the console command to save as a tga file. I can't recall the command off the top of my head, but I know it's on the wiki.
That command is /screenshot, or you can use /screenshot_UI to also photograph the HUD. Easy enough. But you still need a program to open the .TGA file, and save it as a .PNG file. I myself use IrfanView.
When exactly was that photo taken? I remember the balloons got nerfed because of some wacko completely blocking off the Utopia Planetia door on the Anniversary mission, not to mention to sheer lag causing the mission to be unplayable anyway.

I am glad that you found a solution. Here are a few tips to increase the quality of your screenshots by Thomas Marrone from Cryptic. That's for taking shots while playing the game.
Here are some screenshots made by me, to show how to adjust a demo file with the demo launcher to get rid of effects and to change a costume. Also how to get rid of effects while in the demorecorder without the help of the demo launcher tool. The last few shots shows how the command /fov can affect the quality of a screenshot.
Thanks for this info. I was wondering how to get console commands to work. Turns out it was the most obvious thing.
