Even with all the current power creep in the game and new ships I have aquired... fleet mogh, Nicor, Jem dread, I always find myself going back to one.
The Galor. It has good speed, turn, inertia, eng skills, and tac skills.
Its just so well rounded. It hits hard and can take a beating. I have done just under 26k DPS in it, and have taken over 800K in damage without a death in a ISE.
I have the fleet Mogh, Jem dread, and even a Nicor. I always find myself going back.
I use to do 100K DPS, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Your Ramming Speed III deals 242658 (243540) Kinetic Damage (Critical) to you.
Reasons:
- Good mix of offense and Sci Boff abilities
- It looks more like the original TOS Constitution class then any other 24th century TNG era ship, and it's probably as close to a T5 Constitution class ship that STO will ever get.

Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier. It just look so B.A. Not to mention for 7 months it was my pride and joy. I've whooped so much TRIBBLE, that it's not even funny in that ship. It honestly gives me a sense of security. It's the only ship I have that makes me say to a Borg Cube "Don't make me come over their."
Sadly it's the only Carrier without a Lt.Cmdr Science slot. I think Cryptic knew that if they allowed this ship to have a Gravity well, it'll be the most dangerous ship in the game. Let's be honest it's an overweight Escort with 2 hangar slots. That's why it specializes in kicking butt. Now if Cryptic decides to finally give it an Universal Lt.Cmdr slot (by removing the Ensign slot), I'd be ok with that.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.
I keep switching ships because I keep tinkering with builds with a heavy dps bias. My top are the following:
Feds/Klings:
Nicor: Absolutely incredible in the Undine Battlezone. A little squishy for Borg STFs
JemDread: I am using elite scorpians since I don't have a JHAS. Awesome DPS power and great for Borg STFs. Closest I can get to a Scim in borg STFs. with my fed alt.
Fleet Avenger/Mogh: So flexible. Can run Aux to Bat, Non Aux to Batt, Cannons, Beams.
Romulans:
Scimitar: This is by far the best ship in the game for PVE. Nothing else comes close in Borg STFs. Little slow in the battlezone but who cares still makes up for it with raw power. Properly build, the scim is as close to an iwin button as you can get in this game.
Of all the ships you own, which would you say is your one absolute favourite to fly and why?
Although I have just about every ship in this game (with the exception of a couple Gorn ships on the KDF side) I keep coming back to the Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser. Yes, it's a Lobi store ship (BOOOO, HISSS) but it is a strong cruiser with a great hull and good shields, it has cruiser commands AND it has sensor analysis to boost damage or help out an ally, plus the Indoctrination Nanites are helpful and when combined with the adapted borg warp core (and the shrapnel torpedo consiole from the Tal Shiar Destroyer) you get some impressive set bonuses.
On top of that, the Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser can be run as a TAC, SCI, or ENG because it has a universal Commander slot and a universal ensign to setup the ship however you want it.
Yes, I fly a lot of other ships but I keep my Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser on standby because it's just so universally awesome.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
Fed character uses the Fleet Excelsior. Though I do switch from time to time to change things up a little. The Excelsior is a very well rounded ship; agile for a cruiser, very tanky, and still able to put out great damage.
KDF character started out in the Tor'Kaht, but now switches between the Fleet Mogh and Fleet B'rel. Fleet Mogh is a nice offensive cruiser that can be used as either a cannon or beam boat with great success. The B'rel is a lot of fun as an ambush predator (glad they finally added flanking!).
Reman character uses the Fleet D'Deridex almost exclusively. Switch to the Fleet Mogai when I wanna more agile platform. The D'Deridex is a very unique ship with its two LtCmd bridge officer stations. Gives you access to both high level tac and sci abilities which can be a lot of fun. I run with 3 Fleet RCS accelerators which makes the turn rate much more forgiving.
Having flown every cruiser available and most everything else, my favorite ship remains the tier 3 Advanced Heavy Cruiser (Excelsior).
Yes, she's a bucket of bolts that should never have allows Mr. Scott to tinker with her pipes, but she's one of the best built ships in the game, if not THE best built ship in the game.
Fed side it has to be my vesta (for my sci char) that i got the 2nd day it came out. Fed eng regent but just got the fleet excelsior for him n having lots of fun with it. Kdf tac its my hoh'sus just wish i could change its looks. Kdf sci it is the mighty kar'fi that i will be going back to as i think the DSD sucks big time. Rom tac it has to be my fleet Ar'kif every thing goes boom real fast
Fed-wise and overall it's my Blockade Runner Retrofit. She's a beautiful ship with more firepower than she knows what to do with and just enough toughness to be able to take a beating and recover before teaching whatever hurt her the error of their ways.
Romulan: Fleet D'Deridex Retrofit. This was a tough sell at first. Coming off of a Tac captain in my Steamrunner, it felt at first like piloting a pregnant manatee with an arsenal of disapproving glances and harsh language. But with some help from a friend I refined my D'Deridex build, and while it's never going to be quite the flying death platform my blockade runner is, there's definitely a great deal of satisfaction behind being able to sit back and go: "Yeah, sure, keep swinging, princess. I almost felt that last one." Plus, when the chips are on the table I can turn on the heat and bring some good damage to the fight too.
KDF: Fleet K't'inga. From a gameplay perspective, the K't'inga is perhaps not the most noteworthy ship, but as a kid I had a model D7 suspended from my ceiling. It's by far my favourite Klingon ship by its look, and I have a great deal of nostalgia for the design, so being able to fly one in game is a treat. Plus, it's still a good ship in its own right, acting as a sort of balance point of the offensive capabilities of my escorts and the defensive capabilities of the D'Deridex.
Dual cannon scimitar, sure it's an effort to get it to get it to spin on dime but it so rewarding when you master the power slide. Players, and NPCs just melt, and escorts pilots responses when you spike you turn rate and outmanoeuvre them is just priceless.
And I know some players won't agree but I think it is downright gorgeous, especially with a dyson shield.
The Federation heavy escort carrier. It packs a punch, but the hangar gives it so much versatility. And best of all, thanks to the different ship costumes, you get extensive customization options. You can make several versions of the same ship, and people'd never know it unless they look at the stat window.
I love the look of the Akira, but cant get the Fleet version as shown above (You need t5).
So whenever I do missions, its in the t3 Akira, STF's and whatnot are in my prometheus.

We have an excess of requisitions and are a tier 5 fleet if you find me in game can give you fleet invite so you can sort yourself out and return to you fleet after, no strings attached.
Reasons:
- Good mix of offense and Sci Boff abilities
- It looks more like the original TOS Constitution class then any other 24th century TNG era ship, and it's probably as close to a T5 Constitution class ship that STO will ever get.
The Fleet Ambassador is a great and beautiful broadside cruiser with an amazing classic look and the science capabilities are a wonderful bonus. I have designated mine as the flagship of my fleet also I was promoted to ambassador in my Fleet Ambassador (she was the perfect ship for the ocassion).
Fed: Fleet Avenger(Tactical) Oddy (Engi) and Dyson Science Destroyer (Science)
Klingon: Mogh (Tac and Engi) and Dyson Destroyer (Sci)
Rom: T'Varo Retrofit (Tac and engi) Dyson Destroyer (Sci)
Avenger, self explanatory, Mogh, also the same, The T'Varo Retrofit, well, It can be best damn near any other ship if it's set up properly just because it's well balanced for all careers and can pop off everything but energy weapons while cloaked.
If I could have two choices I would choose the Chimera (The fleet versions should always be considered the same ship just in a fleet version) And the Patrol Escort.
If I can only have 1 I will take the queen of the stars herself. The Patrol Escort.
Rom Sci: D'D Retro (Though I like to slap the mega plasma torpedo on the T'Liss, Balance of Terror style. )
"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true. Except for a T5 Connie. That would be f*%#ing awesome." - Mr. Spock
I like the Odyssey. it's big and tough and flexible. my main will probably not stop flying GrowlTiger. I tried to like the Chimera. it should be able to do anything, but I cannot make her work. I have hopes for the Risian ships, I just got both to play with, the cruiser seems well suited to be an average DPSer with no fancy tricks.
my Rommie likes the D'Dex, and I'm trying to master the B'rel on my klingon
My fav ships are the fleet d'deridex, the d'kora, the fleet Sovereign, the fleet ambassador, the retrofit defiant, the mirror negh'var, the fleet chimera, the fleet pegh'qu, the fleet qin raptor, the fleet gal-X, the fleet atrox, the retrofit intrepid (ditched it already for the vesta), and the fleet vo'quv.
At this point, I've ditched my fleet gal X and my fleet sovereign for stf's in favor of carriers or heavy destroyers. Why you might ask. I did this because fleet veteran destroyers are imo the best bang for your buck for ships with such a balanced boff layout and decent turn-rate. Carriers, on the other hand, are super tanks that are able to better withstand super attacks like, for example, the hive stf diamond attacks or the planet killer uber beam.
On the topic of pvp, I don't do it much but I want to get back into it. I may eventually try a TAC or engie cruiser pvp shield tanking build, but I haven't had enough time to do so.
Lastly and if you're curious, my all-time fav cannon ships are the d'deridex, the d'kora, the negh'var, the sovereign, and the intrepid.

Escort: Patrol Escort (the original fleet one, since I don't feel like buying the same ship twice).
Cruiser: Galaxy X / Ambassador (both are great for different reasons, if I had one, the Fleet Sovereign might be here too)
Science Vessel: Nebula (tough for its type, nice and versatile BOFF layout and useful against cloakers.
KDF
- BoP: B'rel (because dropping gravity wells outta nowhere is fun)
- Raptors: Qin (not much choice really)
- Battlecruiser: K't'inga (the classic and iconic Klingon ship and fastest turning cruiser vessel in the game)
- Carrier: Vo'Quv
Romulans
- D'Deridex (tough, killer BOFF layout and neat C-Store consoles)
Cross-Faction ships
- Hirogen Apex Battlecruiser (very tough, great BOFF layout and decent customization for once)
- Elachi ships (unusual looking with great layouts)
- Galor (Quite agile and iconic ship)
