Someone said " The new crafting system is just another Skinner Box designed with the intent to rake in as much money as they can get "......how is that? I seen they will sell things in the C-Store, but havent seen anything about it being similar to the lockbox.....which, i wish they would get rid of because i am sick of discarding them when you want to pick up the item like a green weapon or whatever, thats inside the box when they drop together. Put everything in C-Store and i would happily throw more money at them But, i think its wishful thinking
But anyway, i havent seen anything about the crafting system being like a lockbox. Or have i missed something?

no you haven't missed anything. people just keep forgetting words have meanings besides "good" "bad." if I was the thoughtful type. I would get a pysch degree so I could write a paper on the subject.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
We are talking about the crafting revamp that is coming out in late july
Yes I'm aware of that. But I've been hearing things like "oh no, it'll all be reset to zero" as if it was some huge effort to level up crafting in the first place.
...But anyway, i havent seen anything about the crafting system being like a lockbox. Or have i missed something?
They are referring to the random nature of the new crafting system. The system that we will get isn't even the final product. I feel certain they will continue to improve and add to it.
I have heard several people speculating on where crafting is going and how it will end up. Two ideas seem plausible to me. One idea is that, as more modifiers are added to the crafting system, you will be able to buy a Zen store token to ensure you can craft the item with the modifiers you want. Another idea is that to craft Ultra Rare (Violet) or Unique (Gold) items, you will need a Zen store token.
I'm still really interested to see what the crafting revamp brings.
Im interested to see what it brings too. If its something i wont like, i wont do it, if i like it, i will
I liked the old system, but it was lacking the MK XII stuff

The new system is basically spending 16-20K dil for a weapons and you will get a MKII Phaser array, but what kind and what level, ya have no clue.
Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

I fear thet the crafting revamp will be a backdoor to introduce mk XIII equipment to the game. When it it true that the craftable weapons get unique procs and modifiers it will be like it was in the past as we did not have all those reputation systems and the best end-game content was MACO, Borg(from the only Rep Project back then) or the Craftable Aegis set. Then we got the Fleets and whth that we all could get fleet shields with Aegis abilities.
If the new Craftable equipment is better than current Mk XII stuff people who hate crafting will want to get an advantage again . that oculd be Mk XIII which would leet to a storm on the fleets and Repy Systemsfor more and better Equipment when they get the mk XIII.
Hope that will not happen and i am just to pessimistic

This is part of what I do not like in the direction the new crafting system, as proposed, is going.
We have all, for the most part, spent hours, dollars and resources finishing reputation system, often on mains and alts, doing the exhaustive projects to build fleet holdings, all to get the opportunity to grind some more to buy the best gear in the game. Many of us have that gear now which allows us to play any content we choose.
Now, the monkey grinder wants some monkeys to dance for 144 hours and untold resources for a randomchance to get VR, Ultra Rare, and maybe unique gear at massive cost...for a chance to get gear with the exact abilities we want. That chance will be about 13%, and if other PWE/Cryptic franchises like Champions Online and Neverwinter are any indicator, there will be a number of consumable c-store consumables that will improve that chance by 1-10%.
The old crafting system was bad because there was no means to get worthwhile gear equivalent of rep/holdings, and it was a dil sink. The only thing it needed was more gear in the list, and a means to make custom gear. What is proposed is a gamble and a grind. There is no need for this. The game needs real content. Crafting as proposed is not it.

Well it kind of makes a little sense from a certain perspective.
Gear has to go up in level to keep you grinding for resources and the cost of it has to be higher than previous gear so old gear is still an alternative in terms of price.
I do consider the dil lottery to be a deal breaker for me though

Well, they could make the older MK XII gear cheaper and make the MK XIII gear the price of what MK XII is now.
But, this is all speculation imo

Which circles right back around to "Right, it didn't for the old existing system, but we're talking about the new system."
Sure, why not? One of the Devs did the math in another thread, max in the current system equals around one-tenth of max in one school of the new system. Sure, you can have that insignificant token "headstart."
Parse the above carefully. Your apparent assertion seems to be "So what, I maxed crafting in 20 minutes, I'll max the new one in another 20." But you won't. The new system has everything broken into "schools," and the Devs have already worked out that what it took to max the old system completely will get you a very small fraction of one new school completed.
TL;DR: New system will not be maxed in 20 minutes like old system. New system does not work on same scale as old system.

Yeah i dont like that, We should be able to choose what we want, kinda like the current system
hate it when someone uses a new term or shorthand i havent seen of or heard of before, makes me feel like a noob lol
What is RNG?
Random Number God.
Thanks, now i know what he means by RNG lol

It was mentioned. Cryptic nicely erased or merged most messages mentioning the negative criticism.
Fixed that for you.
I think criticism.
Anyway. If its on Tribble I consider it live. So I'll just drop the mineral drops into the garbage when its live on Holodeck and not touch crafting.
Any criticism is looked down among others.

Remember they used to want people to pay dil for doing reputation after removing our free 32 k dil weapon drops when they nuked stf...
Same thing goes to show we don't have to accept anything and everything but sadly people do that

Sure, they could. But this is Cryptic we're talking about.
