I can't wait for the next Trek movie if its as good as the last one then the chances of a new series hopefuly based in the JJ vision :) with Seth MacFarlane spear heading maybe even staring as the Captain of whatever ship it is since he has said he would love to do a rebooted Trek series :D.

A side note I know some people hate it JJ Star Trek but you know what deal with it and if you don't like then don't watch it lol am along with other open minded Trek fans for the ride. Star Trek has and always will continue to evolve change and pioneer with bold stories and characters.

I hope they have a storyline that hasn't been in any TV show or movie yet. Maybe an alternate first encounter with the Gorn, instead of Frederic Brown retreading his short story "Arena" to fit Trek. Or perhaps they discover the Trill homeworld. Even some sort of detente with the Klingons would be interesting (and would fit the fact that both Federation and Empire are still rebuilding their fleets after what happened in ST09).

Heck, a new encounter with the Romulans testing out their newly-invented cloaking technology could make for a good flick. Sure, it's been done before, but it could be done differently.

Just please, no Borg, and no more retreads of earlier movies. The new and old movies both wind up suffering by comparison, and the Borg would have simply assimilated 23rd-century Starfleet without a problem. (They went through enough Villain Decay in VOY, wouldn't you agree?)

They already have, McCoy mentions Gorn in ID.

JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

hmm, you know, they never did explore what happened to that signal from the Borg ship that escaped Archer. They estimated 200 years to destination, but that would not necessarily be all of Borg space. It is possible that a cube or sphere closer to the Alpha quadrant picks up the signal at a much closer distance/time and relays it to the Queen, who dispatches a ship to investigate what is at the coordinates received.

(Unless Q steps in and stops it so that his choice of timing prevails)

Um no. It's an alternate universe. It stands to reason the Gorn of this timeline would want to keep out of the way of the militarised starfleet.

it isnt mirror universe, its just starfleet being a little more aggressive then usual. the gorn still wouldnt allow starfleet expansion if it could be helped.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

The constitution is the size of the sovereign. Its bigger, faster, more heavily defended, and armed thanpn the prime universe one. They went from kelvin to huge!Connie in one generation. That aught to worry the Gorn.

How so? We know Kirk did a few things with the Enterprise between ST09 and STID - they went to Qo'noS in "that ship we confiscated in the Mudd incident last month". Even if first contact with the Gorn went exactly the same way as in TOS, it's not inconceivable that the Cestus III incident occurred between movies as well.

Oh, and once again, Abrams didn't write the movies. Orci and Kurtzman (and a few others) did. If you think canon was somehow contradicted, they're the ones to blame. That's why my hopes for the new film are a little dimmed - now Orci's going to be in charge, and our best hope is if he doesn't decide to write it as well.

The Transformers cartoons started hitting here in the States in the 1980s. How could the majority of the fans of the franchise be 11-year-olds, boys or otherwise? Is there time travel involved? And if so, could I hitch a ride back to 1973 or so for a few hours subjective time? There's a kid then that I could really use to chat with...

I bought my first Transformer back in '84. I was 3. It was Optimus Prime. Sure it had small parts, but parents didn't care back then. We bought it in an old store called Children's Palace, then we went to the Wendy's that was right in front of it. Which is ironically still there.

I remember it as if it was yesterday...

I spend time on the TF fansites just as much as I spend here. Trust me, I know. It doesn't hurt that I have thousands of those li'l plastic robots in my closet myself. Half of them in display stands.

Every time a girl steps in my room and doesn't freak out, I have to pinch myself. :P

    I've heard stories.

I can't measure population demographics accurately, never leaving my room and all.

Edit: Wow too off-topic! So how about that JJ Abrams guy, eh?

I am just glad that there is more Trek on the way. I liked the reboot movies despite the eye-roll moments and plot holes. I am hoping that the 3rd installment has the same success as the first two so that someone somewhere will keep the franchise going. One thing that I like about having an alternate timeline now is that it gives future stewards of the franchise a way of creating unique story lines without having to be constrained by the "canon" of the prime universe. Me personally, I would like to see a Next Generation type film set in the JJ'verse about the Enterprise C with Rachel Garrett and crew. Yesterday's Enterprise is one of my all time favorite episodes, and I have always wanted to see more of the Enterprise C, and I think the alternate timeline would give that a cool spin by not having to be bound by what we saw in that episode. I am also holding out hope that Netflix is able to get CBS and Viacom to let them make a new show, and ST:Renegades gains some traction as well.

P.S. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) from Game of Thrones would be an awesome Captain Garrett...:D

J.J. Verse gets hate because J.J. had to go and run his mouth not only about how much he didn't like the original Star Trek, but because he didn't like the things about it that most hard core trekkies find appealing in the first place.

Add that to the rage of a purist scorned, and I'm not surprised one bit that many fans have strong negative opinions of J.J. Verse. Trek fandom is 90% people arguing about details. Changing anything for any reason is going to raise somebodies ire. The fact that the changes were made by somebody who obviously doesn't appreciate the original works and declares so loudly certainly didn't help anything.

I like 2009. Into Darkness was lacking. I just don't take them that seriously.

Getting to see smexy Zachary Quinto as Spock is worth the price of admission :D

Maybe they'll come across the Guardian of Forever, find out that their timeline has been changed drastically, and go through it to prevent the destruction of Romulus, and stop Spock and Nero's ships getting pulled through time. The movie ends with footage of the original actors on the bridge, as a modern CGI version of the classic Enterprise heads back out into the stars.

Though what this would mean for STO's storyline is a little more problematic. :P

Incidentally, I enjoyed the 2009 movie for what it was (blockbuster action), but while I enjoyed spotting the nods in Into Darkness, overall it didn't seem as satisfying, and it seemed that overall the universe had become a darker, more militaristic place. That's why I think using the Guardian to fix the timeline would be the ultimate fan service.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!

considering what many consider "canon" in star trek changed from episode to episode, from show to show so, bunch of fans stating "this is canon because of X!" other guy sayiing "NO! Y invalidates it!"

I look at it this way. JJ took Star Trek, and took his own creative license, even created an alternate reality and created his own playground.

HMM Gee, just like any role player does in any kind of RPG. So I take the two new ones for what they are, a creative interpretation of Star Trek.

Nothing more, nothing less. Yes there are plot holes and such, but still, not bad flicks considering.

Hell I consider them better than some of the Star Trek movies before. Can we say Star Trek V and Generations? -shudder- 5 was TERRIBLE, and generations so much potential WASTED. Hell I even consider the 2009 reboot better than the original motion picture.

It's all in the eye of the beholder frankly.
