BSselling PvP access or something like that would also be too specific. Whatever we want, it would need to be designd to appeal to the vast population of players. Say, if we want a leaderboards system, it would need to be something that would integrate with reputations or PvE missions, for example.

PVP needs to be part of the normal Universe that players participate in.
The universe needs to have dynamic conflict (territories, border wars, etc), that PVP can be a part of

You are right, but you have to be careful. There have to be some limitations because a lot of those PvE-All-Day-Long-NPC-Bashers can not cope with a loss. They would run away from the game if they find themselves in situation there is no STF-I-Win-Button. Second you have to avoid that griefers would camp common players.
And lets face it. This all sounds good, but you will never never never see something like this in that game. All we can expect is grind, and more grind, and even more grind.

All you need for PvP is for your opponents to be other players; you don't strictly need to be shooting at them (we just like to). :P
Still, combat racing is definitely something I hope Cryptic is considering for the future; as an engineer with a preference for explosives, I can't help but wish I could drop mines behind my board as I go.

A: I dont know, hopefully soon. I know PvP could really use some love right now, in the past seasons we havent put much into PvP except for the shuttle PvP map queue. We know a lot of people love PvP and we are hoping we can get something out soon.

It's not classic space battles - apparently, most combat is in the atmosphere, but the ships evoked a bit of a Battlestar Galactica and the combat a STO feel to me. Except perhaps with less space magic.
And considering that STO has its "2.5D Space Combat" going for it, atmospheric combat might not be so far off.

You can't get better in a game if you have no reason to play it.The only reason i login is to see my ingame friends and if they play a match or two i join.The game got boring and if they don't do something PvP fast (anything) more people will get that "no reason to play" feeling and leave the game

IF they do it right (some kind of territory control, mass pvp, perhaps a PVP/PVE map... , nice dill reward for doing it) - they could get also the PVE population.

Which means it will keep people, which are otherwise tired of the grind, playing and staying with the game.

This Thread is still up?... forgive me for being so negative, but i don't expect STO Dev team led by Captain Geko to make a PvP season whatsoever unless he changes the way he thinks or get replace by sum1 that can do a good job at putting out PvP content along with PvE and not solely focus on PvE like Geko have been doing.

They didn't bother to scale damage to the level of shuttle battle. Shuttle pvp was dead on arrival.
Also fleets were already doing private shuttles matches, for a long time now and match settings were more regulated and balanced, no one was unhappy. That addition to public queues was a waste of time and resources, and every pvper should feel insulted they did that.
to be fair, we only got that mess due to jesse coding it in his free-time. it was not intended, but then implemented by the team.
i can't blame him for this oversight, for something done in his free-time. but though, yeah. one could have imagined, at least someone on the team before pushing it to holo :rolleyes:...

People working on PvP maps on their free time, thats how Ker'rat got their spawn change... by sum1 doing that on their ''free time''.
This obviously shows that there are members of the STO team want to improve PvP but it also show the ignorance of the Lead STO Dev's *cough* Geko *cough* not to improve PvP and spread their propaganda that incompetent PvE AI's are the real threats to adaptive thinking minded players and express that other adaptive thinking minded players are not good enemies.
