...yeahyeah, all those nice and well thought out ideas over the years that just turned out to be wasted calories ...
i really liked to know the buisness reasons for letting pvp alone on and on. i doubt it's the cash-fact. indeed, as many times beaten, at least pvp content is cheaper to produce.
i also doubt it's their metrics. but if really so, and if they're really relying for buisness decisions on a number-collecting system that shows at least some flaws between the lines, in a game where the problem is not the metrics but the game-mechanics (aKa "supper bosted") and ingame-player-progression (aKa "learning curve") itself.... i guess u get the pictu...DOOOOMM
I could really care less about the RISIAN SUMMER GRIND...
But, but, but...haven't you seen? Some of the major traffic on the forums for some time now has been dedicated to the outrage over swimwear being limited to Risa!!!
Meh, that's the game we play...don't know about you, but I'm not telling anybody that I play STO - they might hit up the forums and see those threads.
edit: More and more, STO seems like less of a game and more of a 3d chatroom/dating service...
There's a lot of guys on the PVP boards and all that have been around long enough to know better "of hope and pvp season."
Yes, I'm a pessimist and a cynic, but all you have to do is look at the track history of STO and know better what kind of angle is coming for PVP.
Mixed PVP Queues has been the only thing added for PVP in the history of STO on live. Nothing else has been done for the 4 years of this game's existence.
They did that because of the shield free PvP mission dilithium farm exploiters that gather around the center of Deep Space K7. It is unfortunate because that exploit could have been resolved by adding a one hour cooldown upon mission pickup and place a minimum time limit on ingame matches before credit was counted. Using the PvP private queues to farm dilithium wouldn't be profitable if the match needs to take at least 10 minutes. If Cryptic feels a 10 minute minimum time counter isn't enough, then they could add a 60 minute cooldown on the mission that begins once the player has picked up the mission. This would allow PvP players to still obtain their dilithium at the same rate as they do currently and it would make playing mock matches for dilithium pointless. Here's a better idea, Cryptic could ban everyone that is abusing the exploit. They are easy to spot because they all hang around K7 without slotted personal shield generators.
The day they will release a PvP season we will take over ESD and put that place to silence from PvE heroes.
And they should, how come some people do great at PvP and some are crappy at it? And why the last ones are always those who complain day and night about it with same old excuses?
Frankly, it needs way more incentives, that's all.
And they just hammered what few incentives there were. Unreal. Totally disgusted. And ashamed for how much money I have spent in the past. I was totally excited about the summer event but now? Hell with it.
no word on anything regarding reward-nerf or reasons or if only the imagination that they'd have put any thought in it.
this sux badly and if possible by now i really wish it was able to get me all my money back i gave to u to.... do nothing but BS :P... ****
p.s.:
big lulz btw.... "when will u guys do something about pvp", " i don't know, hopefully soon" and here it comes: next "addition" to pvp, while u say there's nothing, is a major nerf just round the next corner.... good communication might be something else, eh?!
edit: updated op to include threads from havams sig/cryptics history with pvp

It is very naive of you to think that everyone who does that kind of farming can be found and banned. And no, all of them most certainly don't hang around K7.
Whatever this game is, its not about PvP. God it's not even about Star Trek. Its become a twilight-zone twisted incarnation of a horrible Chinese-based Second Life. It just happens to be in space.
Its shamefully what they have done to this game.
When I login in, which is when I am feeling masochistic - I experience a psychological weariness. I actually become drowsy from the PvE and grind. The moment I log-off, I'm feeling fine.
If you want solid PvP - go to Heroes and Generals. You will not regret it one minute.
And for the love of #$%^ - will someone tell me how the #$% to turn of this $%^& sensor analysis visuals!!
Enough the the $%^&^ floating icons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry mate. Losing Brandon was the nail in the coffin for me. Without him I really can't say there is a single PvP supporter at Cryptic.
Thanks for that but I really just held the mirror. Its all of you that were the finest.
Why should anyone have to put up with this, really?
Why let yourselves feel like some dorky school kid whose mother forgot to pick him-up at school? Every car that turns the corner, he thinks its going to be his mom's. Needless to say, she's been sms'ng him for like 3 years that she's on her way......
Damn neglect. At some point the child's going to say "%^^ it" and light a smoke, pop open a can of spray-paint and graffiti the wall with some really inappropriate life lesson for her.

Quite possibly the best analogy ever for the pvpers situation
Unfortunatly i have to agree with Drk.
PVP never got any love from the devs, all it got was more nails to make it's coffin stronger.
For me personally pvp got it's final death blow with S7, the launch of the romulan faction combined with all the stupid rep powers and fleet stuff.
just my 2 cents...
cya all in the PU (if they ever finish it )
yeeep.... x .
and like instantly i'm back in the days of s6, which has been like a turning point imo. there has been the window, the mood (start of bc, right?), the people and the hope (****, again) we see at least something like fleet vs. fleet pvp on fleet-holding maps.
it has been logical. it only was due to lack of time they not released those with beginning of s6. because, wouldn't it be stupid to create such a fleet system without letting fleets fight against each other?!
glorious days.... not even near to perfect, but much more fun and less grindy after all!
long story short: good to know ur mind is wobbeling around from time to time
Lean181818
Q: When will you guys do something new in PvP content?
A: I dont know, hopefully soon. I know PvP could really use some love right now, in the past seasons we havent put much into PvP except for the shuttle PvP map queue. We know a lot of people love PvP and we are hoping we can get something out soon.
lmao... anyone in the mood to discuss?
p.s: havam, cryptics history with pvp plz...
With mostly negative comments on the forums about Cryptic doing alot of things wrong, u would think they will figure out their mistakes by now...
they still don't...
That's why there is no hope PvP unless Cryptic willing to change their current staff with ppl that have a balance input between Factions and PvE/PvP content which i don't expect to get from the current lead Dev's.
Hope and pvp are two terms that shouldn't be in the same sentence.
I disagree. "There is no hope for PvP" is a perfectly and likely correct use of the term.
Or do you mean that this is a sentence that shouldn't be correct?
---
But if you want to talk about hope...
If a few farmers look to Cryptic as hitting their bottom line more than making PvP less rewarding to regular PvP players, what does it tell us how relevant PvP is overall for Cryptic's bottom line?
How could it become more important? P2W ships?
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
i won't go into details i might think that may could benefit pvp, but after all it's simply about the quality and the advertisement of a product i'd say.
f.e. i still wonder why the folks in big bang theory don't play sto ...
meaning: an out-balanced game with in the first place well-xplained mechanics and good rewards for hard but versatile content will probably attract a lot of attention if advertised right.
so:
balance, eeerm...... more'n'more creep
well xplained, eeerm...... yeah, no! nothing really gets xplained (xcept for some blogs, i'm talking bout ingame) or "educated". players and forums are still the best source for ingame knowledge.
good rewards for versatile content, eeerm..... in pvp? good rewards? versatile pvp content? lmao
good advertisement, eeerm..... where? on particular websites? where else there's any advertisement for this game?
f.e. i only play sto because i looked out myself for a new trek game. never heard anything about it anywhere else (germany here). ya know: i don't visit those websites
It may ultimately come down to opportunity cost for Cryptic. "We could work hard to monetize PvP, or we spend the same effort to monetize something else. Where do we get the most out of it?" If is better for Cryptic to create something that affects all players and can drive sales across the population, then focus on one subset.
So maybe P2W ships isn't the right answer. It is something they can do either way (one could argue they already did it, they just inventented the Dilitihium Store to circumvent the usual problems with P2W). A ship like the new Patrol Escort Refit is of appeal to everyone, not just PvPers.
BSselling PvP access or something like that would also be too specific. Whatever we want, it would need to be designd to appeal to the vast population of players. Say, if we want a leaderboards system, it would need to be something that would integrate with reputations or PvE missions, for example.
Maybe a leaderboards system could also provide further incentive to balance the game better. The Valdore change to only trigger at 90 % or less seems to be an example for that, as it means that console will no longer overheal so much and the Crystalline Queued map scoring will no longer overrate people using the console.
But maybe implementing a leaderboard system that works for PvE content and PvP content would require too much work for each content aspect (maybe each map requires its own scoring system even), so it's also not practical.

There had been few television advertisements. Concerning websites, well i saw advertisements promoting the "new" season, BUT in fact the Season in these advertisements were more than a year old.

The same ranting that there would be some improvements soon for years. Storytellers.
The rewards-reducements shows that they rather mothball the whole PvP than put any effort in developing it further.
they still don't...

Because there is no Star Trek in STO. Futhermore the four only want to play original characters.
