Undine Infiltration Audio Recurrence Bug

doubleogtrigondoubleogtrigon Member Posts: 0 Arc User
edited July 2014 in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
The audio for the Undine ground mission gets very persistently bugged.

After running it every cut scene in the game plays the audio cue from the last scan portion of the quest.
Play the featured episode, every cut scene is interrupted by the bomb is in position! (and sometimes more of it). Fly into DS9, the bomb is in position! Zone into Drozana the bomb is in position!

I think it may be when more than one person scans for the bomb placement but I'm not sure. I'm positive the only thing to fix it is a relog. That, and how positively annoying it is.

Yup, and if you play the mission enough times, you get all kinds of dialogue about the bomb at the same time.

Audio cues overlap and trigger early in subsequent re-running of Undine infiltration by toons on the same account.

Affects all toons from one account who run Undine Infiltration (Elite).

1.) Login, play Undine Infiltration on one toon of seven toons. Works as expected.
2.) Switch toons, start Undine Infiltration, toon #2 begins experiencing weird early plays of :

[Mission] We've found a site for the nanite bomb. Move to that location and activate the transport!

[Mission] The bomb is in position. Take out the last of the active Undine to stop them from deactivating the device!

3.) Switch to toon #3, upon starting hear the above while on ESD. Above audio cues begin randomly playing in orbit or on esd. Join pug for Undine Infiltration, random cues begin immediately, and overlap each other.

4.) Switch to toon#4 - same outcome as toon #3.

Etc. continues for each subsequent toon running the same mission.

    Update:

By logging out of the game, and restarting with another toon, the problem disappears. It looks like it only affects you when you transfer to another toon, instead of logging out.

Good report - I was about to post the same thing.

Multiple playthroughs of Undine Infiltration result in audio loops, which also transfer to normal maps after a while. The only way to "resolve" this is to reset the game.

There are no issues when you play the mission just once, but after a second playthrough on another character the audio starts playing constantly.

Also, I cannot confirm that logging out fixes this issue. I've tried logging out instead of changing characters, and the issue still persisted.

This is the same bug that plagued Starbase Fleet Defense when it was introduced. It does not happen predictably, it is random. After the bug appears game play may deteriorate to the point of being completely unplayable. The only way to clear it is by exiting STO, a log out will not correct it, regardless of the char being played.

Adding to this, I will play the mission on a few toons and I get the issue above where the audio cues will replay at the wrong times. Then, I will switch to other toons and ever time I change a map on those toons I get the same audio playing, usually it sounds like the one about the bomb being placed, but the first time it sounds like two files are being played at once, but I can't tell if its the same file multiple files, or just once. Again, this is on other toons that have not run Undine Infiltration, I just switch to them, they are all in sector space, and I get the audio when I go to the Dilithium Mine map, and then again when I go to the Dilithium Mine interior.

EDIT: Sorry, and this is also on initial log in, in sector space.

Same audio bug after a few run through it turns into a random static squelch and severely lags gameplay a restart of the game is the only solution I've found so far as the audio will begin on every map transition.

I've noticed for a few days now, when finishing Undine Infiltration, the sounds repeats. I mean, after finishing the mission and playing on other misions or just doing nothing it starts to repeat sonds from mission informator for example ("The nanite bomb transport side has been spotted" - or something like that). And it repeats over and over - but not one after another - let's say after exiting system or sector...
And the only problem is to exit the game and restart it. Was trying to change character, but the problem was still there.

I had this ALL WEEKEND after doing the map.

No matter what character I switched to I would still get it. I was more or less logged in for like 12 hours Sat and it never cleared up. (lol not playing for 12 hours straight but had the game up and going)

At one point I switched to my foundry toon and was fiddling with a map. I would still get the audio even in the foundry.

On the flip side, I also had issues with the offending mission. We would clear a room and then have to wait and wait until the VOs/story caught up with us. Like we'd be ready to jump down the hole to the final room but the VOs and mission text were like 2 rooms behind us.

I had the impression the audio clip was triggered every time I got a new objectove or changed maps. Every time I did this all the previous plays of that clip repeated with adding a new one on top.

    A bit hilarious really.

A complete game exit fixed it.

ya im noticing this too , this is like the 20man Fleet alert bug back when they launched ,

you would think this wouldnt be a bug that it was coded out back then

its annoying to have to exit the game every time you play this mission .

I've had the same problem as well, and put in a bug report.

I just just take it as telling me it's time to go do something else.

i haven't noticed any of these issues myself, i have the opposite of the problem in fact...

What i am gathering from this thread is that everyone's audio is adding audio, increasing samples, playing audio where there shouldn't be audio...
My problem is losing audio, decreasing samples, audio NOT playing where there should be audio...

For the longest time i have had this issue with STO since before last christmas, i noticed that STO doesn't care what the audio settings are at. If i decrease the volume, exit and run again, STO resets the volume level, regardless of the volume slider setting, my volume keeps getting louder, and i always have to reduce the volume every time i load STO.

Close STO with volume at 50%, launch again and it is reset to 100% even though the slider is at 50%, now i can barely hear anyone in my teamspeak with the STO volume at 4%

Additionally, the worst began with the new feature episode of Season 9, where the narration starring Tuvok, is barely audible, my last run through the mission was a silent movie.

Audio level keeps self adjusting to 100% regardless of in game setting, and audio samples drop in matches with a lot of beams, cannons, and torpedo's being fired.

Would love a recode for the audio! it seems long overdue!

While playing surface tension I started getting the conference voices replaying over and over again. Which led me to this thread lol. I got a new pref file which put all the settings back to default.

Anyway for whatever reason I managed to get rid of the repeating voices by turning off voice chat. I don't know wtf it had to do with anything, but turning that off seemed to fix it for me. It did kind of sound like they were going through someone's mic xD. It wasn't my mic because I didn't have it plugged in.

    Very strange.

Darn you to the kitchen, throws pie at crash dragon, now back to therapy. Yes doctor it reminds me of these strange voices from a few months ago endlessly repeating over, and over and over and over, and over arghhhhh help meeee. :P

The bomb, The bomb, The bomb is in place, place, place. Now elimin, Now elimin, Now eliminate, ate the rest of, est of the active Undine, dine, dine. To prev, To prev, To prevent them, em from deactivating, ting the devise, vise, vise.

Every time I run Undine Infiltration and switch toons the voice overs from that event continue to play over and over randomly after the event is finish regardless of where I am or what I am doing and if I don't close my game client and log back in each time I run this event on one of my eight toons (4 Fed & 4 KDF) it eventually begins to sound as if the voice over has been sampled by some kind of demented DJ who replays it over and over and over again almost continuously. This has been happening since the release of Season 9.

Are you guys planning to fix this in the near to not to distant future. I have noticed that it hasn't been listed as a (ROFLMAO) "Known Issues" list in the Patch notes. But then I guess if you honestly listed all the known issues the Patch Notes would be to large and unmanageable.

Also your nifty new Loadout option has screwed up all 8 of my toons action bars. I only made one Loadout for a Small Craft on my newest kdf toon and now every time I change maps or log on to a new toon it removes my Auxiliary and weapons Batteries from my action bar even if it is locked. So I have to open the action bar thingy and drag the item back to my tray. I eventually cleared all the equipment from that nifty Loadout and saved it..... yet the problem remains.

Winkywinky at Branflakes, not sure how much fiber you provide but you are still a flake in my book.

PS: I am pleased that you finally fixed the Ba'ves Klingon Honor Guard costume option for female KDF toons. What did that take?... only about 18 months. Good to see you are all on top of the, "Known Issues".

This type of audio bug happens randomly. I remember getting it with Shon in the Tau Dewa Block back when it was added to the game. "NEED AN ASSIST!?" over and over and over...

Only thing you can do is restart to clear it up.

You may have missed it but a few months ago audio FX from, I think it was the "Second Wave" episode mission would play and continue to play every time you visited DS9. Especially the dying gasp of the female Cmdr with the Irish accent, when she was impaled by a Jem'Hadar soldier that appeared out of nowhere. I forget her name.

With their typical efficiency, that issue was rectified in about 3 months.

Yeah I get this all the time, and it drives me nuts to the point where I don't play the mission as much except for daily marks bonus. Amazing how many voice over glitches there are in this game, for uncounted months now "The Vault: Ensnared" plays the wrong dialog for Obisek. It's supposed to say "The Tholian Vault web is 20% complete!" it repeats part of the voice over for when you talk to Obisek in the vault feature episode mission "so, it seems we've come to the heart of the matter... little spy". How long does it take for TRIBBLE like this to get fixed? I understand some bugs are difficult to hunt down like it was with the costume slot issues however this appears to be a simple issue of the wrong sound clips being associated with the triggers.

    This isn't a bug.
They have repeatedly said that the Dyson rep was completed way to fast, and so they were making more ways to slow us down completing the new Undine rep.

This is one way. Now you have to restart STO every time you play this mission, slowing you down.
    True story.

This seems to happen often-ish in Undine Infiltration, one thought I had is that maybe it's caused by multiple players starting and completing an objective around the same time? I'm not sure, but previously the only place this happened with any regularity was Captain Shon in the Tau Dewa patrol missions, and it seemed to happen with his lines far less often than the ones in Infiltration.
