Been playing STO since March (thank you, Mac client), and I am considering dropping the coin on a Lifetime sub. I'm starting to think that it will be more cost-effective than a simple Gold sub (or continually buying ZEN).
Not sure if this question gets asked a lot, but... to the lifetime subs, is it worth it?

That is a subjective question. Depending on how long you intend to play, how many characters you have and what not then it might be. I subbed yeas ago and it was worth it for me
NERF CANNONS - THEY NEED A 50% NERF
CRUISERS NEED A 206% HULL BUFF
I got mine so long ago that its more than paid for itself. The main thing you need to consider is if you're going to be here next year and how much you play.
If like me you play at minimum an hour a day then lifetime is a good deal.
The priority connection was a bigger benefit than I though especially how many problems people had when LOR was released.
The monthly Zen is nice and the bonus xp helps levelling new characters.
The vet ships weren't my cup of tea but they are good ships.
Access to the foundry is nice if you want to dabble in creating content.
Lifetime is definitely better than gold subscription if you intend on paying for that.
Android officer is neat.
Hell, change my answer from yes and no to just yes. I'm more than happy with my lifetime.
I got a LTS last fall when it was on sale ($200 vs. $300) and it's certainly been worth it.
I think the LTS goes on sale twice a year, so my advice is to wait. If past practice is any guide, it should be around late May / early June timeframe.
The only thing I would say is that sales are good.
I assume this refers to sale prices on ZEN? (That's how I got my Tactical Escort Retrofit. )
I also assume that the 500 stipend rolls over or accumulates? Meaning, I can save up for a few months and get better ships/bundles?
I'm not even done with the main storyline yet... almost to The 4800. So, would I get my money's worth? Given I have more of the game to play, and that I'm thinking of simply buying ZEN... my thoughts are just pop for the LTS, and never have to worry about ZEN again. :P
If you truly are planning on playing for years than I'd say yes. It's worth it. The monthly stipend, the ships available, the costume unlocks alone are worth it to me because all of those things would have been hundreds of Zen.
I'm also impressed with the escort they added to the lifetime veterans. I use that exclusively on my romulan engineer. It's very nice ship. Some of us use the excess Zen we receive to build currency in other areas which makes all the difference when trying to buy things from the exchange like very rare doffs, or those box ships. I love the fact that I had extra respec tokens for free, and the free space suits with great stats on them, the extra costume slots, extra costumes, starship material (love that we were given the Reman one and the Reman captain capability), and the extra ship slots.
Is it worth it for the Enigma nebula, the 5% skill boost, the 1k 20hr dilithium refinement, the titles, the Fireworks emote, or the pets? Probably not if those things were the only things available.
Even tho I'm one of the many who'd like them to change the limits on dilithium refinement for example and upgrade the Captain's Table to something way more useful (including a TW option) I'd say I did get alot for my money.

If you can plan on sticking around for the long haul, then yes, lifetime sub is definitely worth it. Not only do you get access to certain items (chimera destroyer, account bank, etc.) you also get 500 zen a month. This happens no matter how often you play. So even if you take a fee months off playing the game, you'll come back and find zen waiting for you, and it builds up. Not to mention the cool veteran ship material and other options.
Waiting for the sale here. There's 2 birthdays coming up in the next month. Hint hint.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I love my LTS. I started to regret it shortly before LoR came out, but once that was released and the main story line started picking up again, I don't regret it at all now.
Speaking as a long-time player who never bought an LTS and wishes he had been able to do that two years ago, the answer is yes.
Forget the veteran perks for a minute. As an LTS you get all of the Gold subscriber benefits for the rest of the life of the game.
That means all of your characters will get the additional inventory, bank, and Foundry slots, you will have no EC bank caps, you will earn all of the extras that Gold characters get as they level up, you will always get priority access to STO, and you will get the Zen stipend every month.
Try buying all of that stuff as a Silver account and see what it costs you.

Stipend is nice, but it is just enough to make you wait a long time to get a ship, so long that you are likely to blow the stipend on something else instead and end-up forking more money out to get a ship or ship pack.
I'm not sure if the rest of the LTS benefits are worth much. You get 1 of 3 ships to pick of the Vet ships that can easily be a moderate end-game ship, good enough for all PvE content.
No matter what, you can complete all content in the game with just one ship. It usually comes down to the player being board and wanting something different. You don't need a lot of DPS to get through the content either. I frequently fly my vet ships, especially my Gal-R, it still does a great job.
Whatever you decide, at LEAST, wait until the LTS goes on sale!

i bought my LTS when it went on sale, and I would say that yes it is worth it, for all the reasons that everyone above me posted.
I've used the vet ships on all my characters (Fed, KDF, and Rom) all very nice ships.
As for the person looking for the Android BOff, Elsa is in Operations, lower level, if looking back at Admiral Quinn's office... she should be to the right..
And the android comes in handy when you start the Voth battlezone on the Dyson sphere.
I have to agree with most of the posters in this thread: If you plan to play the game frequently and stick around for a year or more, then go for it, but wait for the next sale.
The last two sales were in Dec 2013 and Jun 2013, and if the past dictates the future, you've got ~6 weeks or so to wait for the next sale. I'd wait to save $100.
Gold Membership: You get all the perks of being a Gold Member.
Veteran Rewards: You don't have to wait 1,000 days to get them all, or even 100 days to get the first one. You get immediate access to all Vet Rewards.
I've been an LTS since Feb 2010, and my only regret was that I paid full price (but really, for me and the amount/length of time I've played - Still worth it!).
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.
It isn't worth it and cryptic should get rid of them and go the neverwinter model.
I bought my lifetime sub before release and it has more then tripled in value. But by sheer weight of numbers (and not saying that sto isn't a good game) do you see it lasting another 4 1/2 years.
I will not buy another PC. Nobody buys pc's anymore
That being said a "pack" of benefits per expansion would be awesome. (Like neverwinter) is a good idea
I bought mine at pre-launch. and while STO hasn't been my main game, I do come back to it a few times a year. not worrying about paying a sub durring the time I was out of work, being able to pick up right where I left off, and being able to keep up with top C-store items thanks to the stipend - it has been well worth it for me.
buying in currently I can't say for sure..... not alot of players use their vet ships ( I do on one of my 8 or so characters), but they are decent for new players that don't already have access to a ton of C-store ships already....Lib Borgs are fun, I have one in each faction. They get a good buff to their space abilities and I like their Neural Blast trait, even though not many people use it.
you get the stipend with monthly subs also, they do help get you new shinnies from the C-store... save up for a few months, buy a ship.

CRUISERS NEED A 206% HULL BUFF
The LTS opens up a nice selection of service boosts, expanded inventory and the like.
The 500 zen a month stipend is very handy.
I like the veteran ships, although they are a matter of taste.
I particulary like the android boff, and the uniform options.
I very much enjoy having my own fireworks too....

Ooh, nice!!! Thanks!!!
I've had my eye on a Jem'Hadar ship. (Not the Dreadnought... boo slow turn rates!)
Pre-S9, from the person you buy white BOFFs from. Post-S9, I'm not entirely sure where she's been moved.
Didn't realize that the LTS goes on sale, so I will sit tight and wait for that!
More a reference to the difference between $200 and $300 dollars....but I see you've got that message already
The BOFF seller is on the new ESD. I remember seeing her and clicking on the tab for it along with the other special BOFFs.

Yes, LTS is totally worth it, if your in this game for the long haul.
It will pay for itself in a few years with the stipend, and the perks are awesome.
