PVP has been great, the premade queue pops fast and is more fun then before since you don't run into weak pug groups as much anymore. I guess it could be "dying" for people that only like to pugstomp with their premades, or people that liked hiding in FvF, but not for us.
Haven't been able to get interested in many of the games I hear other PVPers playing lately, none of them are space.

Definitely having more fun in the new queues. In the solo/duo queue I get a sense that there's a very real chance I'll be teamed with at least 1 or 2 other decent players.
For example, I went into a match that would have qualified as a "pugstomp" in S8: Multiple HOBOs on the other side, all veteran players in end-game/lockbox ships. But because I was teamed with Empress Naga (himself a HOBO and also a veteran player), we at least made it interesting.
Between the two of us were were able to carry to team and even get a few kills in. And while we didn't win (by a long shot), were weren't rofl-stomped out of the arena. And some of our kills were quite spectacular.
As long as I go into the queues knowing I have a chance of being teamed with decent people, I'm more inclined to queue-up. Overall, a very positive development for PvP...IMHO.
Lol now I kinda feel silly. I was very sure the 2 man team was going to ruin pug matches.

I'd say the jury is still out on that. Today I ended up facing off against two two man teams on the opposing side. Both were a high end escort and a recluse. Each pair was from a different fleet. Perhaps they were not teamed and it was just luck, I wasn't able to queue again to check. Still, its clear to me that these two man teams will dominate the pug queues, whether that's enough to push away the new PvPers trying out pvp is what remains to be seen.
I remember the old days which Hilbert is on about and what Heiz is referring to. Trust me, if you saw those days and compare them to the here and now, it is way off the mark of what PvP fun was.

I get where you're coming from and I sympathise with players that feel like Cryptic has simply failed to take the cue for far too long. That being said, in the here and now I am having a lot of fun in the premade queues with my HoBO's. I'd just really like to see cross-faction teaming to really get the most out of the new system.

I doubt STO is dead at the moment, but there is one reason I'm finding it very hard to play now. It's the graphics. For some reason, S9 seems to be an order of magnitude worse than S8.5 - especially when I play the Undine content. It's bad even on 'Low' settings.
Yes, I have a laptop, but it's a very recent one, graphics good enough to hit +40fps in MWO at High settings. Not being able to see what's going on puts my reaction time in the gutter - and when there are vapers around, well......

I'm just finding my PvP fix in other games right now that's all. Hopefully PvP will become better for all, but the way it's going with the creep and stuff, hard to see that.
By the way , from what I remember , the game was more favourable to the 1 hit alpha strikers the last time I played than it ever was in the history of STO So it would be more fun for your style of play but is it for the majority?

On topic, I'm pretty much on the same road as those who have left, or are thinking of leaving STO from our happy dysfunctional family of PvPers. Really tough to justify wanting to stay anymore with how PvP has become, and I seriously doubt they are willing to do enough to help it out. Even if they were, I wonder if it would even matter.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

pvp gameplay? with the cross faction pvp que, your going to have a hard time finding pvpers thinking the game is worse then it was before season 9, or declining at all.
The decline has come and gone. Long before S9, Cryptic lost most of the game's population that it had gained when F2P launched.
What remains of the PvP community probably won't decline because, if they've stuck it out this long, they'll stick it out no matter what. Cryptic could literally drop trow on a player's front porch and lay a deuce, and a remaining PvP player would make a complaint post but keep playing STO anyways.
This is the tail end of STO's lifespan right now. I'm not saying it will end anytime soon, but the only outcome remaining at this point is more decline.

Yeah, yeah. death and misery and everlasting doom. Why does everyone who decides to leave the game or who doesn't find it as enjoyable as it once was, declare the game unfit for everyone else to play? Either all of you darma queens think that you are too important for the community as a whole (and that it will inevitably collapse the moment of your departure) or you are the scale by which fun in games is measured. Also: It's not like someone will actually question your gaming cred, so you have to badmouth every aspect of the game you once liked or convince yourself that there were far better times in the past (ah, those rosy nostalgia glasses fit really well).
If you find this game isn't for you anymore, then just take the appropriate action. Cheer up and/or get lost.
PvP's been dead to me since mid Season 7, although the personal death blow came mid-season 6 after my fleet worked really hard to unlock the elite ground weapons only to discover that they were useless. It just took a while for me to give up on a game and a fleet that I loved.
I don't feel like the game as a whole is dying, though. Quite the contrary. The PvE is getting better (for non-PvPers who don't feel compelled to grind it out), the game is getting prettier, the story missions are getting better, and even the grinding is less of a pain than it used to be, with the vendor trash requirements getting transmuted into flat EC, the sponsor program, and so on. The foundry is starting to turn into a real part of the game, not just a beta program.
Does that mean many PvEers are going to play the game for a long time? No, but STO has never had much longevity for non-PvP, non-RP players because of its lack of endgame and quick road to max level. It certainly has more staying power for normal casual players, completionists, and roleplayers now than it did in late Season 5, which I would consider the high point of PvP. We're the only ones for whom the game is getting worse. Cryptic seems to be trading PvP longevity for completionist longevity, and given that PWE seems happy pumping money into it for major content updates every eight months, plus an aggressive patch schedule... I get the impression that STO is doing well and is expected to continue to do well.
Do what I do. Play for fun. Theres nothing thats making you pay to play their game. I do agree it can be sinister at times. Look at it this way. you wouldn't pay someone to play a game of checkers and after season 9 thats what sto has become. a checker game. just a little something to pass the time away. Play for fun and nothing else and when you're not having no more fun..well you know what to do then.
I've found that many arguments from people that say the game is dying deal with pvp. Honestly the amount of people pvping in an mmo that's not pvp will never reflect upon the total population. Sto isn't dying but pvp is currently dead.if anything sto is on the rise. Its very casual very free and relatively easy to start out. There's not much to dislike other than the pvp but with the rep power Nerf they need to make the rep systems require less time and resources as the primary issue of power creep is less of a fact whip unbearable grinding is very dominant.
And yet there is a significantly larger and more active group of players who do not PVP. They drop $$ for zen on a regular basis, and to some extent enjoy the game for the social aspects, the role playing, and god forbid - they like playing as a way of escaping their daily lives.
I don't care for PVP. But it doesn't mean I will never try again. I don't have the desire to spend the time to get that good where I am competitive enough for the effort to be fun.

Yeah, it is sad that so many veterens already left the game.
But as awkward as for some of you it may sound, PVP is not dead at all. It's not over yet.

Granted, the rise in FAW Scimitars, doff'd RSP feedback pulsing builds needs getting used to, but I'd argue PVP is not getting worse, but just different. If you can think in those terms, then you may enjoy pewing almost as much as in the good old days.

People that i know are having way more fun then in between season 7.5 and 8.5 where queues were dead and ppl played PvE in hunt for records.
Like i said elsewhere, pure fact that you now are able to PUG with KDF as a fed and vice versa, makes some random matches epic.
Just to fix full team queueing in solo/duo queue and it will be even more fun.
Also games we do on OPvP are really fun as well.

However, it takes a whole very well coordinated team to pull it off, one single Leroy Jenkins style pug player could ruin it.
In season 9, fawmitards seems to have lost a lot of their OP punch, not exactly sure what's causing it, probably the trait revamp hit scimitards really hard, dunno...
