TRIBBLE Maintenance and Release Notes - April 10, 2014

coldsnappedcoldsnapped Member Posts: 520 Cryptic Developer
We will be bringing down the Tribble server for maintenance to apply a new update: ST.40.20140330a.8

General:
  • Further minor updates to the art and civilians in the new Earth Space Dock.
  • All Hourly Dilithium projects are now gated behind their Hourly XP counterparts.
    • These can only be accessed once the Hourly XP project for a Reputation as gone into cooldown after 3 project completions within a 20-hour period.
  • Maintained secondary firing modes that are "Exploit" attacks no longer consume the "Exposed" effect from the target until either they have:
    • Reached their sixth activation pulse or their maximum, whichever is less.
    • Any Primary firing mode that has the "Expose" functionality now has half the normal chance to expose the target that a Secondary firing mode would have.
      • This also means that Traits/Items that increase Expose chance have half effect on Primary attack Exposes.
  • 8472 Counter-Command reputation art and UI has been fully implemented.
  • Added VO to Viscous Cycle, Undine Assault, Undine Infiltration, and the Undine Space Battlezone.
    • VO is still not in a final state.
  • Updated rewards for all four of the newly-revamped Borg/Undine Missions.
    • Each now includes a Purple Mk X (for levels 40-49) or Mk XI (for level 50) piece of gear as a reward option.
    • The first time a player completes "Assimilation" they will have a choice of one Borg Prosthetic Arm assault weapon.
      • Additional weapons of this type can be found in the Omega Reputation.
    • The first time a player completes "Fluid Dynamics" they will receive:
      • 15 Omega Marks
      • A unique "Adaptive Transphasic Torpedo Mk XII [Dmg]x3 [Borg]" which deals additional damage to enemy Borg.
  • Kit modules available in the Dilithium store are now Blue quality for Commander level modules and higher.
  • Resolved an issue that was causing Omega Pulse Generator to fill two Trait Slots instead of just one.
  • Resolved an issue where all species were gaining access to the bonus Alien trait slot.

Known Issues:
  • The new queued event, Undine Infiltration, is still a work in progress.
  • The Reputation Revamp and 8472 Counter-Command Reputation are both still a work in progress.
  • The Dyson Sphere Undine Battlezone is still a work in progress.
  • The new Earth Space Dock is still a work in progress.
  • Viscous Cycle is still a work in progress.
  • The new queued event Undine Assault is still a work in progress.
  • The new Kit Revamp is still a work in progress.

[Borg] has that been fixed? The old [Borg] torpdeos didn't worth on half of the Borg ships. Does this mean we can pull out our old [Borg] items?

EDIT: Going to post this again as not sure it was spotted in the other thread.

Omega Graviton Amplifier is still massively unbalanced with the changes made. We have gone from one proc per 2 seconds in the old, old system for torpedoes, to 1 proc every 30+ minuets in the new system for torpedoes. While energy weapons have been boosted to 1 proc ever 2 to 4 seconds. The proc rate for mines and torpedo is way too low. Once per 30 minuets surly isn’t correct.

I'm assuming that these will be the torpedoes that Voyager used in the show, right?

My guess is these are the old [Borg] torps that do 1000 extra damage per shot to Borg. The only problem is half the Borg in game are not listed as borg and the [Borg] proc wouldn't trigger. STF's where pretty bad for this.

I think that New Romulus Command could use a few minor upgrades that would substantially improve the QOL (quality of life) for Romulan players who spend time there.

    1. Security Officer DOFF contact: Pretty self explanatory, I'd like to be able to turn in contraband and other things while spending time at New Romulus Command. There are several of these spread across the galaxy and it just doesn't make sense that a Command Center wouldn't have one.

    2. Allied Faction DOFF grinder: As we all know Romulans can use their allied faction's DOFFs. What they cannot do is grind them up/down conveniently due to faction specific grinders. It would make things less frustrating if there was a universal grinder stationed at New Romulus Command.

    3. Lore Mission Contact: For those of you who do not know, there is a Lore Mission located at two locations depending on FED/KDF. It is located at the respective academies, and with the course of the mission you gain insight into the game's back story. Since a large part of the game's backstory deals with the fall of the Romulan Star Empire, and the destruction of Romulus itself, i believe that new Romulus Command should have a way to educate Romulan players on their rich history.

Any chance these additions to New Romulus Command could become a reality?

I'm not sure what this entails exactly. What happens after we complete a reputation and no longer need reputation XP? Does this include the projects that grant dilithium for turning in Borg Neural Processors and the like?

Will we need fresh characters for the torpedo if we already tested the mission on them?

What about when it goes live, we it be consisted a new mission to existing characters?

You could always skip over a post, if you don't wanna read it.

Besides which, there are likely a great many who agree with said "Quality-of-life improvements". Certainly wouldn't hurt, if it could be done at the same time as the FEDs get their major QoL improvement (ESD revamp).

I'm kind of worried that we're less than two weeks from the release and there's no sign of the secondary deflectors or a fleet holding.

    This troubles me as well.

Also, the "minor fixes" to ESD, apparently didn't include a Character Art pass, making sure the NPCs stationed there, or wandering around are using identical uniform style. Tacofangs response?

I'm still not seeing anything about fixing the infected complexion to be a full body skin...

Aside from that, there were a few good questions raised so far. Did they finally fix the[Borg] modifier? Last I heard, it never really worked, and then nothing after that. With how many other features don't actually work as stated, I'm still sceptical about this one. Hopefully we can get an answer from a dev.

Aside from the possibly still broken [Borg] modifier, how will this torpedo be any different from the cluster or rapid fire transphasic?

I as well have already completed all of the Borg missions (please fix the Infected skin to be full body) so am I unable to attain the free Borg Prosthetic?

Agreed, though right now, there's still other outstanding issues that have been present for a while (Unless they were all stealth changed in this patch):

    - Undine Infiltration still has major progression issues.
    - Reward packs for the new Undine queues are still missing.
    - The Undine Battlezone is still reseting prematurely during the Bonus Voth Invasion.

EDIT: And with Smirk's Livestream tomorrow, he's going to unintentionally anger a lot of people when they see that missing reward.

And they haven't made Undine rep marks or the set available for testing without grinding. I've been complaining the shield proc looks lackluster as it doesn't increase with flow caps.

Yeah I have wondered about this since they claimed to removed the items from being purchased due to their own statements that the proc never actually worked. Then the transphasics have too low of base damage to be effective. The only reason transphasics are ever used are with the breen cluster torp/mine because of the entire mine field it makes is almost 100% which its so low you don't notice the 20% that isn't shield penetrating. Then the other is the obilisk pet transphasic spam but other than those 2 options they aren't worth a TRIBBLE.

There is a reason why its so gimped on the torp and mine procs though. People always cried foul if there was any possibility someone could use the enhanced battle cloak mode on the b'rel to actually be a threat in pvp. This is just a continuation of that so they can rest their minds that someone won't kill them with a b'rel.

There's no new fleet holding in Season 9 - between the Spire, the Mine, and the Embassy, the vast majority of fleets still have many projects to complete.

Secondary Deflectors won't be launching on release day, but work on them continues and we'll release them as soon as they're ready.

I kid you not, we have created extra Federation fleets so we can gather more fleet credits. We have to leave our FED fleet and go to our 2nd and 3rd FED fleets.

Here is the problem, we also have Romulan and Klingon fleets, but they are no where near maxed. For that reason we do not play them much. There has to be a way to link
FED-ROM-KLIN so when you max your fleet level on one, you characters can help the other side gain level.

    EXAMPLE
Our FED is max level all 4 levels, we should be able to help OUR (FLEET) Romulan or Klingon fleets.
I would love to play ROM or KLING, but the fact there is no way we will ever get max levels on those fleets seems a wash for me.

Same thing with helping other fleets, whether it is a 100% exchange or 50% or something.

Remember this is coming from a FED fleet that has created 2 other fed fleets to get more credits. It just seems stupid that way.

    Hope I make sense...

"New military-involved fleet holding", Gates of Sto'vo'kor interviews dStahl (24 June 2013)

Now granted, Dstahl is no longer involved in STO development. But I suppose that's just another in a long line of broken "promises" from Mr Stahl.

Regarding the Secondary Deflectors, it was hinted at being released -with- Season 9, as recently as January 28th 2014 (Primetime UGC episode 29). So that's two major additional systems (Improved Flanking, and Secondary Deflectors), which have yet to be added to all appropriate vessels. I guess we'll be waiting until either Expansion 2, or Season 10 (whichever comes first) before getting the flanking/deflectors.

Any Primary firing mode that has the "Expose" functionality now has half the normal chance to expose the target that a Secondary firing mode would have.
    • This also means that Traits/Items that increase Expose chance have half effect on Primary attack Exposes.

Does this also include melee weapons like bat'leths and lirpas? It seems weird that the left and right slashes would have different chances to expose.

Salami said ingame that when this goes live the mission will be treated as 'new' to players who have done the old version.

So the many big fleets out there that have every holding complete and are bored to death with the game as it is get nothing, yep guess I'm not coming back till S10.

A Fleet Mark/Credit Exchange system similar to the Dilithium Exchange would help everyone, but a project that costs 5000 Fleet Marks and has a 30 minute cooldown would help large fleets obtain Fleet Credits and would be easy enough to implement since it is just creating a new Fleet Project with no new tech or programming required. I seriously doubt this project would take more than an hour to add and more like would take just 5 minutes of dev time.

That is merely your opinion. The Counter-Command Ground set and new ESD looks cool, kit revamp will change ground combat, and the revamped Borg and Undine missions might be interesting. There is also the fact that the new Summer Event which includes surfboards and swimsuits is part of Season 9.
