i'm not...if they're only going to be usable on one map for only 60 days out of 365/66, they'd better be a hell of a lot cheaper than winter gear

i'm not going to be wasting time gathering favors for items of that price when i could be using them on items that can be used year round, like the flowerkinis, beachcomber and explorer outfits, and all the summer food/drink...all of which can also be sold on the exchange, i might add

i bet these new swimwear outfits are going to come in BoP boxes

Now this is what my nightmares are made out of.

You're oblivious to your own posts. You won't acknowledge any relevant point raised against you. You hide behind perceived attacks on character instead of actually attempting to argue your case like a reasonable person.

I am not oblivious to my posts at all. I continue to bring up the furry as a simple example of a type of name-calling occurring although apparently I have been the one name-calling yet I have not proceeded to call anyone a troll or something else. I argue my case like a reasonable person by not resorting to silly accusations of others being a troll. I have replied in all counter-arguments in a respectful way.

Can I add Alien to that list? Aliens might work too, but its more action than horror.

Mother of pointless Trolling threads! -O--O- ... Where is a Mod when you need one to put all these children to bed with no supper?

The truth is that Cryptic are catering to the crowd and they know their target audience all to well... A quick walk around ESD or particularly Qo'noS (and even New Romulus) shows what the "masses" want ... Making them only available for use on Risa (or another "Beach" if one ever gets added) is just a genuflection in the direction of "keeping it clean" I imagine.

I'm sure Cryptic don't want their game labelled "Bikini's Online" but, like any company, they do need to give the consumers what they want, and like it or not, the 'Chainmail Bikini" crowd is just as strong in STO as any other MMO.

Some may call it childishness, immaturity or even stupidity to have an onscreen character running around in skimpy clothing, but AFAIK, those people are the ones being childish, immature and stupid because, like it or not that mentality exists and there is nothing you can do about it.

It's simple really, if this summer event, allows costumes to be unlocked but! only to be worn on Risa..

Sorry but thats all incentive to even bother with the grind going out the window.

I actually saw someone, above me quoted, mentioning that cryptic is catering to people..

I'm sorry but you really are playing a different game completely.
Nobody wants "locked in place" content. (after the event, nobody will even visit that world ever again, untill the next summer event a year from now)

Certainly not if you have to spend a time limited grind on perhaps even several chars and not even get anything thats worth the grind.

So no thanks cryptic, hope you'll see in your precious metrics that nobody plays it.

Defeats the purpose of a summer event.

First off, no it doesn't. The whole purpose of the event isn't just to wear a special outfit.

And second, going by what you said, letting us wear winter jackets year round in the game defeats the purpose of the winter event, doesn't it?

And to everybody else, if the rumors are true about only being able to wear swimsuits on risa, if it goes live like that I'm sure Cryptic won't back down from it no matter how much we plead and beg. For all we know their minds are made up at this point and jumping on it early probably won't do any good.

To be fair, last year there were tons of requests during the event to let us use our floaters all over the game, or at least in social zones. Cryptic explained that in order to do that they would have to go through every single ground map in the game and make it work so players don't get stuck, and buildings without roofs have roofs added since in some areas it's not possible to see the tops of buildings. It would be just too much time and work to do it.

But for outfits? I see no reason they can't just make them work at the tailor exactly like all other outfits work. It shouldn't be as time consuming to make it work that way as it would to allow us to use floaters off of risa.

^This. All the coats can be used, the pet can still be summoned even if it doesn't move, and you're forgetting the Nanopulse weapons. Those can still be used year round. ;)

lol, why would you wear a winter coat in a beach with a slight breeze at 32 Celsius. sweating like mad just as there sat out like a sore thimb. you would be mad to do such a thing :D.

anyways, my view of this bikini thing is its okay where it is on risa, it should stay there, beyond that teenage boys and perverts should not be allowed to get their wish so easily outside orion females. however if this does lead to better character models all round, thats good so will all the other bits and pieces. the one thing i was happy to see the end of years back was under the TRIBBLE there were these dark shadows, that went, now im hoping that ugly ribcage look and inner thighs are sorted out as well as various hairstyles. the former two i have long wanted gone since, the latter happens when you view further out and see scalp overlapping hair with a slightly larger head.

In fact its the exact opposite, it requires work to make outfits limited to one map.

There is something seriously wrong when a company does extra work so that customers could enjoy their product less. :(

So, if swimwear is bound to Risa only. Then please for the love of god lower the prices on the outfits! Same for all the other bound items you can get.

I wont even bother with the event.I already have to much to grind for my pvp ships ,to grind all my spare time for locked stuffs for 1 map is ridiculous.

Because the "Winter Coat - Cropped" was more revealing and "beachy" than the "Risian Beachcomber" Outfit from last year :P

oh, i see :P i have seen a few toons wearing beachcomber pants, so i imagine that will sell well still. then there is that tatty khan uniform without the undershirt.. risa is a high class place, wearing rags.. "dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack." would look really odd.

lol a typical argument for the status quo. maybe center should look at the problems in this world and those that exist in the star trek world and tell me where idic comes into it. klingons have culled the gorn, nausicaans and cowed the orions into an alliance, turned them into puppets of the empire. the romulans want to destroy the klingon empire before the homeworld was demolished, and klingons wanted revenge on the romulans, and yet they should no tolerance for each other. so preach all you like, doesnt change a damn thing.

Walking around in Mirror bra and miniskirt at Earthspace dock = ok
Risa bikini on space dock = bad?

    Whatever.

In a Galaxy where liberated borgs obsessed with efficiency dress in high heels and Starfleet lets us wear whatever the hell uniform from whatever the hell era we want (can you imagine the Army letting you wear a Civil War uniform to work?) we've reached a point where it's all so ridiculous and so utterly lacking in credibility that we might better just let players wear what they want.
