Anyone else having issues with AFKers or people doing almost nothing in the mirror event? It seems like almost every time I do it there is at least one person who just flies around doing nothing. Is the AFK penalty not working for this instance?
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.

I'm pretty sure there's no AFK penalty, since several times I've sat around doing nothing because there were no more rifts to close (and ships with a faster turn radius were zipping over to any rift that dared open).

It's getting worse by the day. I have no problem doing this MI 14x for 3 alts. But having at least 1 or 2 AFK'ers per MI for the last 3 days, I notice myself getting annoyed.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
Luckily I only have today and tomorrow left to finish the event. The leechers have gotten really, really bad in the last few days as people are wrapping this up.

The problem is, since the mirror event queue is not funny anymore, people only do it to gather the transporter, and since they know it doesnt matter if the station is completely destroyed, you will get the transporter anyways, they just sit tight and wait the mission to end . . .lol.
But not always. I found myself a couple of times flying in circles but not because i was afk, just because the reasons above, i was trying to go to one side, since all my team was in the opossite, and in the end, i find myself trying to close some rifts, that eventually, its impossible, and i need to go back with my team because nobody notice im alone.. and its just better to stay with your team if u know nobody will aid you. And if you keep trying to fight for yourself all the ships and closing the rifts at the same time, its a waste of time because you just cant. Of course im talking about science captains, with my breen warship i dont have a problem going alone. I can kill and close rifts almost at the same time.. xD. And sometimes, in that case what i do is just to fight any ship i find .. and i let other people to close the rifts. Mostly because my ship gets agro at the nanosecond they see me.. lol.
It's odd, but I've only had one leecher during my entire time playing this event. Someone in a D'deridex just sat there the entire time and waited it out, only showing up to blow up the dreadnought.
If this comes back in any capacity, I think the AFK penalty should be fully installed into this sucker. As well, it should still be used to get Romulan marks because TRIBBLE the Epohhs.

Ask them in open chat do they plan to help or just leech. May be everyone will report the person.
And if someone else says something like they don't care, it's probably the person logging in another account. Then say you have the AFK'er on follow so then you can't help until the leecher helps.

The first week everything was humming along well in the pugs I ran, cruisers would power satellites and protect the science ships, who were closing rifts, and escorts were mopping up the ships coming through.
My last three runs have been a disaster. Rifts just weren't getting closed. At all. The teams I ended up with just seemed to congregate around the station (or not moving at all), firing at ships, until the station is destroyed when a pile of Typhoons come out. The jewel on the crown was last night when I was running around in my cruiser trying to close the rifts after the dreadnought appeared because everyone just heaped on the dreadnought until it escaped through a rift not once, but twice. Grand total - 25 marks.
It teaches me right for not finding people to run stfs with and joining public queues. Tonight I'm going to try running it in my budget build Mirror Luna and close the rifts myself. I'll ask for help in chat when the instance starts as well - but am not hopeful.
I'm not in this for just the rep project, the marks payoff (even in normal) is pretty decent if you keep everything maxed out.
I was going to post this in another thread, but it makes more sense here. I know it's too late for Mirror Invasion to change, but I really hope the devs take this feedback for future event reps:
Events like this are where the grind complaints become valid. I usually don't agree with those complaints. I understand the mentality of wanting to get players logging in each day. That's a good thing - I should want to log in each day, and an event is a great way of getting me to on days I otherwise wouldn't. But you really should offer something more than a single way to get the event rep item.
We just did this same thing with the anniversary event (which was much faster and less annoying - mostly because of exploiting flaws in the UI, admittedly). You stop wanting to log in and only do so because you started it and "have" to finish it. And that's when it stops being fun and becomes a grind.
I don't understand why, if I "have" to play almost daily, I can't have more of a choice of what to play. Obviously Mirror Invasion is the focus and what you want to promote, "check out this cool new, limited time mission", but why not also make the transporter available from replaying story missions, or from foundry missions, or other under-played content like the three exploration mission dailies? Just something to add optional variety, not literally doing the exact same thing every day.
The next time one of these events comes up, if there's only one way to earn the item, I'm probably not going to even bother. I don't enjoy playing the same thing over and over again. I don't think anyone does. There is a ton of content in this game, why not take advantage of it for these events?
I am starting to think they won't do it now. Cryptic screwed up and now won't own up to what was said.
Yeah they have a serious problem owning up things stated as well as when they make a mistake they like to push blame elsewhere to not make it right. Especially when it comes to rep stores and stuff not being linked up properly they just fix it later, then tell you to re-grind it saying it always worked lol.
Yeah don't expect them to honor anything they say and if you gripe about it the brown nosers come out of the wood work and say yea you all whine about promises or statements they never stated lol.
Someone said there was an extension (a day, I think) and linked to it in another thread. Even if they hadn't, there are still 9.5 days left. Unless you didn't come into the event until the last couple of days, you'll be fine. I have a toon sitting on 6 of the things, and she's going to make it albeit just barely.

yeah, the link goes to Trendy's statement that they were intending to extend the event.
Other than that, there has been no official word i know of.
Hey everyone! So due to the instabilities we've been experiencing, I now know that we're going to be extending the Mirror Event till Monday 4/7 at 10AM PDT. I'm really happy to announce this to everyone, and I'll be putting up an official news post about the extension this coming Friday.

And T-8 days, 18 hours, until reports from players come in that the event got shut off at the first announced time...and 4 hours after that to hear that it's back on until the extended time...
Don't laugh, it's happened with every single event they have extended in the last two years!

I am astonished that you even dare to use the word happy in relation to this event.
After being 'finally' done with two chars I am relieved to say: 'GOOD RIDDANCE!' May we never see you again.
And to the person responsible:
Thank you for making it company policy to make new content we neither can shorten with good play nor can get better/more rewards if we put an effort into it.
As a token of my appreciation I curse you, may your breakfasts always be stale.

The forced time is my complaint about the event. I've had "good" runs that we sit around for five minutes waiting for the dreadnaught to appear. And one time I even went and made a sandwich while waiting and still had a minute to spare.
But I am glad that they extended it for those who want to continue doing it because of the outages.

I usually report those people that just stays in one place and act like they are "AFK." I report them for spamming & trolling. Hell, I wish the community didn't like to play "Report Trek." It almost feels like they forgot to play "Star Trek."
I had someone this morning who stayed at the starting point until the boss fight. He/she got reported. But the nerve of the person at the end complaining because the team didn't get enough objectives done. Hey, person stayed AFK for the objective complete time so that person was told to STFU.

Yeah I must say that it really annoys me that if you do 'too well', you end up losing marks because you're not killing as many ships or closing as many rifts. Not to mention you're forced to sit around and wait for five minutes.

On twitter there is a claim by @trekonlinegame this being a "regional ISP issue unrelated to our servers". Which is plain lying since we can all get online just not on the game servers or in my case not even get in the launcher. ALL servers needed are pretty much down, so not sure what is going on, but it is NOT regional ISP as claimed. Posted a tweet not long ago showing a screenshot of http://stostatus.com/ which clearly shows this.
Not happy it yet again happens during EU times and not US times, feel really disrespected as customer and gamer.

Have to admit, I've had my fill of the mirror event too. Really am sick of it.
Of all the times I've played it I've had about four - five runs that I would consider 'good'.
This is another mission that fails mostly based on the fact that it relies too heavily on teamwork - not a strong point for this game.
And with more content that relies on PuG teamwork forthcoming, I do fear that I, personally, am going to tire of this game very soon.
Reyan!
I wish were in the same timezone my friend!
Team work is what I've enjoyed in the STB channel. Due to our difference in time zones tho I know it's hard to team up.
For some reason I am not sick of it and strangely enough I have had 2 pug teams where the 5th member hasn't showed up and those 2 were done pretty darn well.
I know tho there is only so much one can do to stop the burn out but that has been pushed back for me personally with meeting like minded people like yourself online.
