I dont have any problems with the cooldown. Because i always do the same runs about the same hour, hour up hour down (it doesnt matter since the cooldown is 20 hours, not 24). Whats the big deal?? i really dont understand the problem u guys have with this, unless you cant play at the same hour more or less.
I also think they spacebar'd the intro cutscene...so they REALLY don't know what to do
I don't understand why they made it so you can skip the important video that tells you what to do, but you can't skip the meaningless video showing the dread coming in with the awkward audio that's messed up half the time.
I've done 5 runs in the last 24 hours on my T'varo light warbird (fleet version). 3/5 rewarded me with 50 marks. 1 rewarded me with 55 marks (which was wierd...thought it capped at 50 on norm), and one we managed only 35 marks.
I generally get 50 marks.
Here is my secret:
Warp in.
/team Hiya folks, have fun and good luck:)
/team and don't forget to focus on closing them rifts!:D
Then I blow stuff up and close rifts, and rinse and repeat.
Just remind people in the beginning. Usually we get 1 minute to chit chat before it begins. Just take that moment, and remind folks politely and without sarcasm or in a denigrating way to focus on closing rifts.
In my experience, PUGs even themselves out a lot. Sometimes I get the worst, while others we have had to wait for like 3 mins because defeated every enemy, yet in the end, the length of the mission is still the same.
My advice, if you have to PUG, don't think in terms of min/max, just get the misison done and over with. Too much wasted breath on yelling at the leechers, afkers, and other lazy players. No matter what you say to them, they will still leech, go afk, and not do anything.
I believe what he's talking about are cruisers who do nothing but sit next to one satellite and only power that single one while doing nothing else. I've seen it a few times myself, especially with cloaking cruisers. They will power the satellite and then cloak and sit there. They don't even move to go power other satellites. It's pretty much one step short of leeching.
I've also seen a variant where peeps would avoid combat so that they could power up the defenses, and do nothing else...
In my Sci ship, If I get attacked AT ALL, I CANNOT stop fighting and close the rifts like I would like to - the ship just keeps firing. I've tried all the combinations on the auto-attack setting area of the controls menu (or whatever).
For instance, my 'Automatically Fire Back At Attacker' option (or whatever the correct term/option is ) is NOT on, and yet the behaviour persists.
My point is that other Sci players may also be experiencing this.
I don't like watching a Sci attacking groups (instead of closing rifts, like they should be) any more than you do, even when it is me. ESPECIALLY so, when it's me. I don't WANT to be a burden in the MU event. Enough of a problem with other clueless (granted, I probably qualify here) and AFK players as it is, thanks.
Can one of you Vets please tell me what I've done wrong, controls-wise, 100% serious? I refuse to completely disable auto-attack unless this is the only way to achieve my goal.
(If it's not clear, my goal is "Be actually able to stop attacking and just close the accursed rift already.")
I've also seen a variant where peeps would avoid combat so that they could power up the defenses, and do nothing else...
Ya I've seen that myself but when i do see it i intentionally draw a huge Mob towards the person doing it Forcing them to either help out or Fight Terran ships and make themselves useful hell i saw that last night where some idiot
was just doing it but also intentionally trying to hinder the entire team,so me and the rest
of the entire team gave him a taste of their own medicine drew like 5 huge mobs from 5 different rifts right to this guy then Cloaked as we knew this player had no cloaking device, then we all watched and laughed as his ship got totally Lynched by 13+ Enemy Terran Ships LOL:D:P

Character is shown by how you deal with things not going how you wanted...
Yout comment about almost everyone in this thread aside, here is another data point to consider.
Yesterday, with 1 AFKer who didnt even swoop in at the end to DPS the dread, and with me also going AFK for a couple due to a router crash (had to unplug it to restart it), we got 42 marks in one PUG, including the AFKer who deliberately moved well off of the map & zoned out of the instance after we capped the dread/before i zoned out.
I've generally had good luck with PUGs, a few lame duck teams, but nothing to bad.
Only strange occurance I notice is, usually, I pick up a shadow, no problem with that. But, as soon as 2 or 3 rifts spawn in the same area and I get swarmed it seems like everyone else is suddenly on the other side of the map.
Not that those no good, low down, dirty, disease ridden Terrans can take out my Voth Bastion.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.
I'm a tactical officer flying a tactical vesta kitted out with the best of the best.
The first couple weeks were good. People seemed to get it but lately the queues for regular have gotten worse and worse. I could just join an elite on the public channel but I like helping people who need it.
Trust me when I say that I've been teamed with people who are flying such subpar setups that they take longer (2 of them) to blowup a single FREIGHTER than I do, in my vesta, and entire spawn including battle cruisers.
So I don't even care. In elite sure I need to use the strat. In regular I just fly around blowing up everything (I can get 20k Dps in CSE, ISE) and then close the portals myself. I get 1st place in CCe with my boat. Lol. It's kinda fun to carry the scrubs.
Well, i never experienced this on my sci ship doing the event. Just make sure when you want to stop firing, that you dont have any target selected. What i do experienced is , my auto attack option is set to disable, and it doesnt matter. Everytime i select a target, my ship starts firing even if i dont want to. Its really annoying.
I've been playing the event on 4 chars, doing all normal pugs, and the results have been more or less what I've expected. I think I've only rolled 2 or 3 afk players in the 40+ runs I've done, but Im usually too busy to look.
I've found I generally do better flying an escort than a cruiser, (don't own any sci-ships), but I think that has more to to with my piloting skills than anything else. I can close a lot of rifts with a Defiant retrofit or a Chel Grett than I can with my Apex or even my Scimitar. Have a lot of trouble lining up or overshooting targets/rifts with the space whales so I usually try and draw aggro/deal damage with them and hope I can cover for someone else closing them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
My worst experience so far though was with, what I can only assume was, a griefer. I was doing my best to clear out ships/close rifts on one side with my Grett while this guy in a bop, (don't know what class), decided to tail me the whole time, without doing anything else. He didnt close rifts or shoot at enemy ships (he might have had a tail turret auto fire, couldnt tell), just followed me with his nose up my impulse exaust vents, to the point where I was having trouble lining up shots because his ship was blocking my camera view lol.
Anyhow, turns out there was an afk player in that match too and it was all going to hell, so I just stuck with it until it was over and I got my transporter thing. Because, in the end, that's the only reason I'm there. If I actually wanted marks, I could solo them.
People are so confused about the event. Apparently the word "revamp" is lost to them. The event has actual objectives now, people! It's no longer a Leeroy Jenkins shooting gallery!
"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP"
Haven't done a Leroy in ages.. perhaps i should close my MU run tomorrow in style.
No.14 should be special.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I've heard of people using scripting in this event.... and it sounds like that's what happened to you.
In my Sci ship, If I get attacked AT ALL, I CANNOT stop fighting and close the rifts like I would like to - the ship just keeps firing. I've tried all the combinations on the auto-attack setting area of the controls menu (or whatever).
Normally I have the borg torp, mines and kinetic cutting beam on autofire, because then the torp fires nearly continuously. If I take the KCB off of autofire, then I have to manually trigger the torp to fire when I attack a new enemy.
So 95% of the time, I have KCB autofire on.
MI, I have it off.
Hope that helps.
(And for what it's worth, I had 3 back to back excellent PUG runs last night. The other people said that they were having a lot of good runs too.)
Last night I overheard one of my fleetmates on TeamSpeak swearing from the beginning of an MIE to the end, and that was after the run we'd just done with his other character went like ****ing clockwork. We had literally two and half minutes of just sitting there orbiting the station twiddling our thumbs, and then next run Art gets this twerp who does nothing but activate the satellites.

I wasn't intending to criticize folks here, I've removed all that from my post as such. Folks here seem to have a pretty even keel as far as I see.

Sniped for points to make.
K you have auto attack turned on. so anything that shoots at you is going to be shot at in return.
to stop that you have to disable auto attack and turn off your auto firing weapons otherwise your going to be stuck shooting at things even if you dont want to.
You know how at the second stage you have to close the rifts or the dreadnought escapes? You know how there is even a very distinct announcement made that all the rifts are closed? How is it that idiots still go after the dreadnought before that announcement?
If you have the sound turned off in the game then it is on you to be completely aware of the visual cues given to you such as on your minimap.
This is why we can't have nice things people. Too many stupid people that can't even follow simple instructions that are orally given to them.

Cheers from Antonio Valerio Cortez III, Half-Celestial Archduke of the Free Marches Confederacy.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
Resolved an issue where some portals were not respawning.
This was causing there to be nothing to do for the last couple minutes of the match for extremely powerful players.
So rifts are supposed to be constantly opening all the time.
This sure is going to cut back on the amount of Marks given out at the end now with the 'less than average' pugs. Makes me glad I'm done with the event on the two characters I've been running it with.
I come in and see a flying spoon silhouette I don't recognize on the team roster. I click it and wait for my view to focus on it.
It's a Connie. A frakking T2 Connie, in an Elite mirror.
And the sad part was, he was the only one there apart from me who was actually meaningfully contributing (by running around in circles activating things). We had a Dyson sci destroyer with a captain who seemed to have left the default weapons on it and spent more time dead than alive, a useless twerp in a support cruiser, and a Luna that paid more attention to the enemies than the rifts, and not all that effectively I might add.
There was a part where we had five rifts open on one whole arc of the station, and I'm basically parked in the middle of it FAWing left and right with my Avenger trying to keep them aggroed off the station. And the Avenger is not a tank, no matter how well it can tank in a pinch. Took me two minutes or more to die a slow death by torpedoes and phasers, after which we lost the station in like thirty seconds.

Been there, seen that. In my case one of them was a Scimitar.... I have no idea what it's captain was thinking but it made Scimitars look weak. Blew up repeatedly.... under conditions that my T'Varo could tank. Ugh....

There was at least one instance where I deliberately went after the dreadnought even though there were still 4 portals open because the team wasn't closing the rifts fast enough and it was pounding the station enough to reduce the mark reward.
More a delaying action than anything. But I agree, most of the time it's just a waste of time to go after it before the rifts are closed.

Yeah, it's good to have at least one player take on the dread while the rest of the team closes portals.
