I finally quit after about two hours on the story line and then another three hours on the Candle Mission without finishing (I was in a Mogai Heavy Warbird). It was the first mission I dropped and I found out I would have to do the entire chain all over again and that just seemed to daunting. After repeatedly asking for help in game and from family, only to have them find out what mission I was on and refuse, I thought leaving the game was probably a good course of action. I can only take so much frustration. I was only one bubble from 30th too. LOL, funny what can make you leave a game.

Seriously. No one would help because they heard what mission it was? I have flown that mission in a mogai, a d'dederix, Even an obelisk (easiest was the carrier.) And while difficult it is not impossible. With two players it should be a snap. So why would no one assist?

Nor should they be. Their ships would look weird.

If you want to try it again, with a second (I have a Rom and a couple of Feds who can help, and unless they have changed this, non-Roms can help you with this mission) look me up in-game at @Cokecan and I'll match your level, fly it with you, and help you move on.
I'd hate for someone to rage-quit the game over something like this. The mission is quite do-able... especially if you have a second.
Hey I just vaped you, and this is crazy;
But here's my frequency, so hail me maybe?

I came at Candle in a Hurricane as a beginner. I had been playing for only a few days when I reached this point in the story line.
First time going at it I slogged through the first wave and about half of the second. At which point I ran out of time and had to shut it down. Died 2-3 time that first go. I came back to it the following day. Was disappointed to see that I had to do all 3 waves again.
To this point I had been skating along. This mission was a wake up call. Made me look closely at my skills, boffs, and hot key layout. In the end it made me a better player.
I fail to see the difficulty issue with this level, my experience leveling a couple of rom toons this year is of getting ahead of the planned XP curve quickly and finding the space battles a cakewalk on normal, probably did it in the standard Arkif running dual beams and torp up front, turrets rear.
My most recent toon had the advantages of a leech and valdore console from previous cstore purchases, didn't die once and ate through the elachi including the end dreadnaught.
If the level seems very tough try equipping the best green gear your capt can use, then use your abilities and cloak/de-cloak for 25% extra spike damage.
Bear in mind that when this thread was first active ... during the first month or two of LoR, the mission was considerably more difficult than it is now.
