Wow... WoW is still pay to play and yet you are going to pay month to month to play a game and then pay more to not play that vary same game? Vary illogical. If I don't want to play a game, I ignore that game, no money, no problem.
I myself have played WoW for 7 years, have 25 toons and wouldn't ever consider paying for a maxed out one. Then again I'm one of those peeps that like lvling.

well i am one who did the scroll of resurrection back when cata was about to end got me a free 85 and cata xpack for free but i am one who levels in pvp to begin with from level 10 to cap because that game knows how to do pvp just like raids and dungeons
but i did pick i class i know how to roll ret horde pally
Why shouldnt it be an option? The grind in this game is horrible, and im not talking leveling a toon. Its all about repping up the reputation system which is the big drama.
This game needs Rep tokens, 1000 zen = all reps to max!

that would never happen it have to be something like 1000 zen for 1k points in the rep

That is a problem.
But this isn't the way to solve it.
What I don't see is PWE's incentive to sell instant endgame, at any price.
To go all "devil's advocate," it's common to be told the game actually starts at endgame, so...they could call it a "starter pack," then focus on what seems to garner much of the focus anyway: "moar endgame rep grind!!!!1!!"

Ten bucks for all reps maxed? <skeptical raised eyebrow for which there is no emoticon>
Ok, truth time. Playing as a low-level character in any game usually sucks. Champs, for instance, is downright painful to play as a low-level character. City of Heroes was pretty grindy at low-level. Neverwinter was surprisingly satisfying to play as a low-level character. STO comes somewhere in between.
I can well understand why somebody might want to buy their way out of that, especially if they endured it before with other characters.
(Hint: You can. They sell boosts in the C-Store)
What I don't see is PWE's incentive to sell instant endgame, at any price. They'd be as likely or more likely to drive players away than they would to attract them. And they probably wouldn't be the "sticky" players that they like.
Champions is fun at low levels with free form. With the archetypes from F2P? Very painful.
Anyways, the WoW thing is probably more in response to how successful EQ2's "buy a max level" character has been. It helped kick life back into EQ2 and WoW is just taking a solid idea and making it their own.
But the reason it works for EQ2 is that there's so much more "end-game" content after level cap (and EQ2 actually only lets you buy a toon five levels beneath level cap) that it's really just a bump for players to sort of catch up to the crowd but they still have to dig in and take that last lap or two and then enter the end-game.
WoW kind of does the same thing, with its content spiralling past the level cap.
This game doesn't have the same model.
It's end-game is there, but it's kind of different.
STO does already offer things like XP boosts to buy your way past the level grind. And does double XP events and the like.
But if they did eventually offer something along the same lines as EQ2 and WoW, they'd not let you buy your way through the rep grinds. Those ARE the end-game. So they'd let you skip some hoops and start right in on the rep grinds.
Which has less value. But I don't know, maybe some folks would dig it.
So they'd let you skip some hoops and start right in on the rep grinds.
Gee, that sounds like fun :P

Hey, if people want to throw money for a maxed out endgame character for 60 bucks, have at it!
I for one, find the journey just as fun as the destination.
If I actually cared about WOW, I would love to read their forums about cash vets destroying their raids, because they are just N00Bs with deep pockets.:P
So re-read some of the OP's responses and it seems his main complaint is he wants a quick way to "try out end game builds" without grinding new characters to max level...Now if only we had a Zshop item that let you respec everything about your character...if only...
Heck the OP is even willing to dish out 60 bucks for 1 pre-leveled toon, thats like what 12 respecs? -.- how many "builds" are you looking to try lol...

Lmfao wtf, you guys act like theres some difference between a level 50 that bought the level 50 not having a clue, and a level 50 that has been playing for awhile STILL NOT HAVING A CLUE. Bad people are bad, good people are good. Selling ranks in the cstore won't change a thing.

Among all the butthurt in this thread you almost understood it. The thing is that a simple respec doesn't solve the entire problem. To really min/max a ship you need a very specific setup. Arguably you can save a lot of the layouts by now but you're still limited by career and faction. On top of that respeccing a toon costs time too. Fully respeccing including traits and rep takes time. So you can't just switch ships around. That is something I'd like to do though.
Another thing people in here don't seem to understand is "pay to win". A lvl 50 character incl. rep T5 unlock doesn't win you anything. I never suggested a ship and gear to come with it. And given that a good build will easily set you back 1 Million FC and plenty of marks and dill for rep gear there's still a lot to grind out. In the state the game is at the moment, a lvl 50 char just puts you at the actual start of the game.
I'm also under the impression that most people don't understand Cryptics business model. Cryptic doesn't just sell a game, it sells time. You can achieve everything in STO for free. All that Cryptic does is providing means of getting there faster. Usually this option is being used by people who don't have much time on their hand. It's all an economical question on how much your time is worth. So who are you to judge if I, after playing this game for a year, want to skip overly repetitive content and am willing to pay for the game you are playing for free? Considered that I don't even get any advantage over anyone out of it I'm quite surprised about the responses in here. All I get is more time to myself and to spend on other things.
Last but not least I do not agree with this option killing the game. This is mostly because leveling a toon is an egocentric thing. You don't do it by playing with others. You go where there's most skill points. Those are missions and doffing. There's no social interaction at all. A fully completed character however I would take into PvE queues and PvP.
With the amount of money PW pulls in on lock box keys and Z-store items, there is absolutely no reason we should be charged for resetting on our traits, skills and reputation.

are you trying to say pwe cant be greedy ? they have right to ya know
As already noted, if something like this were to occur it would need to be restricted to players who already have at least one level 50 character on their account.
God - we've all experienced Elite STF's where the players played as if it was the first time they'd ever played! We defintely don't need this ACTUALLY being the case!
This, right here, totally and absolutly this.
When you play and ISE and you can't win the optional because a) people think they're actually stronger then they are or b) because they don't have a clue at what they're doing it's a sad day in panda land. Now add in people that honestly have never played before suddenly thinking they're great because they paid 60 dollars, and hell I'll turn elitist.

No I think you miss the point. You think it's bad now. At the very least by the time some idiot who is bad, they've at least leveled 50 levels. They may be underpowered and not know the tactics, but they at least know how to PLAY.
Now take some kid with a credit card, let them buy their level 50, with zero tutorial experience, zero time in knowin the differences between beam, dual beam bank, and cannon, no idea how to balance their shields or anything, and then since the only thing to do at level 50 is to join STFs, you get this literally newb in your STF.
Heck I can carry an idiot most of the time as long as they have even a remote clue on how to play, which by level 50 everyone should. I can't carry someone who doesn't know that torpedoes have a limited arc for example.

Please, the people you already stf with don't know these things either. Ranking progression forces you to learn, guess what, NOTHING.
Personally every time you pug you should go into it with the mindset that you will have to solo, you cannot count on people to contribute in any meaningful fashion.
you cannot count on people to contribute in any meaningful fashion.
See and I think this is exactly the part of the quote we agree on, and disagree on. I agree, currently you can not count on people to contribute IN ANY MEANINGFUL FASHION. Have someone who buys their level 50, and you'll get a bunch of people who can not contirbute AT ALL.
I'm not talking about the current crop whose dps on an escort is in the low hundreds, the rainbow beam boat with nothing but white consoles, or the current Dyson science ship drivers who go into a mission, go instantly into tactical mode, and drive their Dyson's like an underpowered escort. I'm talking about someone who doesn't even know how to fire their weapons because they never have, someone who doesn't know how to use Bridge Officer Skills at all, or that you need to point cannon at the enemy.
Right now we're talking eSTFs with people who don't contribute in meaningful ways, but (usually) contribute SOMETHING. Get people with zero experience and 60 dollars, and you'll have people who can't contribute at all, simply because they don't know how.
When I pug an ise, the people in the pug might as well not even participate, their involvement might shorten the run by 1 minute tops.
And even still, a good way to limit what you are saying could happen would be to limit the buying of levels to someone who had already leveled one character already.
I'd be all for paying $25 (the same price as a shiny new starship) to generate a max-level character, as long as it was only available to those who already had a max level character... similar to how Death Knights worked in WoW. I know I'd love to make a Klingon at some point, but I just can't do it without Mirror Universe or Patrols...
No way to having reps pre-filled, tho.

However if not careful, and you do a new type like Sci, Tac, etc. Then you will fail to learn their play style and really be at a disadvantage.
Me I rather not spend the $ on this, and level one up like you supposed to. Since I like the RP aspect.
