    Bran,

thanks for getting STO back on but like many others this blackout is STILL happening regardless of the settings I choose. I completed 2 of these missions but all with luck and much frustration.

Been wanting to play this new episode but I can't spend an hour on it. Hopefully this is fixed as soon as humanly possible.

    regards

As reported in patch notes I am experiencing the bug where my screen goes completely black once I put on the EV suit and go into space.

Changing video to max settings before I go in as suggested workaround in patch notes does not help. Am running Win XP and DX9.

Cannot complete mission - anyone have EXACT instructions on how to fix or workaround this graphics bug?

confirmed. switching from ds9 eh dx9 to dx11 fixed the issue.
It can be used as workaround for the time being.

Yeah, not an option on Windows Vista either. I keep on getting an error report, something about how it cannot generate a d3d image or something. Basically... can't do this mission.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

Goes black when trying to go on the space walk...
Win XP, DX 9. Tried every quality mode. Can only navigate with sensors, which is at best VERY annoying to point where cussing at PC as I can't tell what degree I am pitching (up or down) and mission becomes the most annoying one ever. Making me have second thoughts of playing STO if this is what we can expect.

I am not experiencing the black out effect listed here, however my character is missing some textures. When I try to put the EVO Suit on my Alien Klingon the evo suit only the helmet and boots appear at the same time it causes her legs to disappear.

I wonder if you are all experiencing the problems many of us had after the last patch [http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=913941] which has so far been seemingly ignored by the devs (no updates on their progress solving it).

Switched to Auto, restarted the program. Works now, also with DX9.

Pretty odd: I can recall the room - the one you step out of into the "black" - was alit. They've changed it, now it's pretty dark in there. Like day and night.

This is a sporadic problem that I have as well. Textures GO WHITE - and often it fixes itself.

Totally different problem from this episode GOES BLACK and persists no matter what graphics settings you switch to.

They might be on a slow ingame rollout so they won't have to patch it and take it offline again. I believe you just need to wait.

For that bugged mission with Tuvok. Luckily I have patience, somewhat, and was able to fumble my way through the corridor mission and the part afterwards with activating power and escaping.

I just learned about the Direct X 11 trick, and so trying that right now. But seriously, how did this escape QA, and what if people just choose to give up on the mission or worse game because of this? Also, why the heck was that jet pack so finicky? It was hard to control and even harder in near pitch black darkness. I do not envy any future astronauts on the far side of the moon if that is their experience.

Same issue as many in this thread, play becomes blacked-out upon all but the background of the sun. Someone previously posted this: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...ps558b3a93.png which is exactly what is happening to me. At one point i was able to tilt my character's head to an angle where it corrected, but once I moved it all blacked-out again. Sad since if this doesn't get fixed soon many of us wont get the new ship no matter how many times we try.

I switched from DX9 to 11 & that fixed the problem for me. I still don't agree with Cryptic's trend of "grinding" everything now even for events. It lessens the celebration & makes it more of a chore. I still plan to try to acquire a ship for each of my 3 Sci toons though since 1 of each faction. Good luck to everyone, players & Cryptics alike.

Wow, being able to see in that mission is an amazing difference LOL

DEVS - PLEASE NOTE: DX11 not an option to those of us on XP. We are stuck with DX9 and also stuck with non-working mission.

Totally blacked out as shown in many screen shots in this thread.

If you ask me (which you didn't) the space walk was quite realistic, from what I understand of NASA's spacewalk training.

You have to understand the nature of how to use your thrusters not only to move you forward, but also to arrest your forward impulse, and, as you point out, it takes little boost to propel you forward, so it takes some finesse to not overshoot your target.

To me, the space walk was the most interesting, and most exciting part of the whole mission, and I don't dread repeating it to get space suits for my away team.

Not just the mission is bugged. The UI is also bugged as well. Everytime you Alt-Tab, the UI messes up and you can't click on half of the buttons. Only way to fix is to log out of the game and restart it.

Then theres windows going from fullscreen to windows maximized.

Their Q&A department needs some improvement.

It's not 100% realistic, but it's close enough.

The video shows the problems, suit is uncontrollable. Romulan character, about to try on Fed to see if it makes any difference.

I am having both this issue on my Reman AND the Black out issue.

tip for space suit with the jet pack push the b on your keyboard to bring up your targeting crosshair tool for shooter mode and just point the crosshair tool in the direction you wish to go.

use same in summer jet pack event.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

getting the same issue , It's damn near unplayable

Yet another poorly written, bug filled mission...released much too soon (before it's been properly debugged) and subjecting the player community to sheer frustrations without end.

I've been here in STO since Beta; long before day 1...and this mission is THE worst of them all...a complete and total waste of the player's time.

I've discovered the bugs are sometimes overcome by logging-off and returning, but even that tactic isn't enough to complete the mission; due to the many bugs in it.

TRIBBLE that mission...I'm not WASTING another second on it.

I am on vista and changing to dx 11 solved it for me, along with ramping up the graphics setting. However will need to restart STO with option of safe mode on the launcher.

Had the same issue couldn't figure out what was going on and why like everyone else I was beginning to blame the Dev's with the 4 years on and still putting out amature mistakes...

Untill people started typing up about switching DX9 to 11 vice versa and began looking at my graphics settings, I attempted the DX stuff to no avail exited the game and went to update my drivers still nothing had changed.

Finally after a few hours of trying to solve the issue and looking through AMD CCC I noticed my 3D and Anti aliasing settings was set to override the games default settings. Setting these to use the games settings solved the issue of blacked out textures now I can see everything and all the effects of the sun.

Unfortunately this mission is still bugged for me now I've completed it and tried to replay this mission I get to the part where you have to pickup a EV suite but cannot progress further as it's telling me to retrieve a EV suite which isn't glowing

Hope this help anyone with a texture issue and the Dev fix the replay

I'm on XP 64 so this wasn't an option.

For me what fixed it was moving the speed/quality slider from minimum to low, yet when i had manually changed the individual settings upwards to match the low settings it didn't work.

Leads me to think you can't really customise the settings, since setting the slider to low and then putting all the settings manually back to minimum doesn't recreate the bug and I can still see.

My settings are already way up there and I have no DX 11 setting that I can see. I run Windows 7.

This missions is pretty much unplayable for me. I can blow up the debris but after that I cannot find the door to scan it. I think I fall through the environment somehow from what I have seen but it is hard to see anything while it is all black.
