I think he's hinting at a capacity issue. It's the same thing that caused the forums to break immediately after the game went down, too many people trying to get on at once. From a business perspective, it's somewhat hard to justify spending on capacity when it may only reach those peak levels 2-3 days out of the year for a few hours.

Damn it Cryptic. Good job completely TRIBBLE up today. I spent more time waiting for the problems to be fixed than I did playing. Only got to run the new FE twice!
They need to remove this 15 day grind bull**** not everyone has 15 days to grind for that ship Cyptic you failed so hard on this event it is not even funny... most likely going to end my subscription because of this :mad::mad::mad::mad:
The problem with network issues are they can be time consuming to fix properly. I am guessing with as many issues today, they don't have the necessary equipment to fix the issue correctly and have just tried to patch it together. Unfortunately that never lasts long at all especially with the amount of traffic they're having to handle today.
The 4th anniversary event should have been seperate from the release of Season 8.5.

-a new season with a solo mission (which means more instances, so more stress on the servers),
-revamped missions featuring a known actor related to the series,
-a new PvP map,
-new interesting features,
-an anniversary event,
-a giveaway,
-a master key sale,
-a new lock box
-etc...
at the same time.
That can only end in total capacity disaster if you're not a big name in MMOs like Blizzard with strong infrastructure and financial assets.
Well extending the event time wouldn't be that unreasonable. I can't quite recall but didn't they do that for a previous event/season release which had a similar case of exploding-network syndrome?

Blame their network issues, not Cryptic. Cryptic did the best they could in order to prevent this, you can't always be perfect on preventing this from happening.
