What's your energy type?

enderssoupenderssoup Member Posts: 1 Arc User
Which energy type do you prefer.
I enjoy the oddly shaped Elachi disruptors.
Excuse me, excuse me, would you mind stopping that darn noise?

Use them all on some ship (have a lot of alts), but I also go with the philosophy of with 'when in doubt, disruptors.'

Been rocking Voth Anti-proton lately, thinking of getting my hands on some of the new Hirogen Tetryon weapons though, nothing like assuring that thin layer of shields doesn't absorb my torpedoes!

My favorite to actually use is polaron. I'm trying really hard to get over my qualms with tetryon, because the piercing ones are really cool to me, but it's just so not worth the heartbreak. Ditto for Romulan Plasma and Nanite Disruptors.

Antiproton for the most part, lately, although I'm planning to switch over to good old phasers.

    Fed Tac: Phased Tetryon
    Fed Engie: Phased Tetryon
Fed Sci: Phaser (Previously Phased Polaron)
    Fed Sci Medic: Phaser
Romulan Engie: Elachi Disruptors (Previously Nanite Disruptors)
    KDF Tac: Polarized Disruptors

These are the energy damage types on the primary ship used by each character. I also have torpedoes, but that's kinetic, and that's pretty much a given.

It depends on the build. Right now I am working on using the proton wpn on something other than my shuttle.

My fav are my rom plasmas with the rom faction wpn. I also love to use the elachi dhc on my tac ship.

I can't wait to try the Tachyon set on my sci character.

I used Phasers for most of leveling up my Scientist, switched to Tetryon at Tier 4 and been using them for PVE since. Their ability to knock down shields is straight evil when combined with Tachyon Beam, Energy Siphon and Subsystem Targeting. Take those shields down and keep them down...

I have a setup for each on different ships as the encounter/mood fits.

I enjoy (in no particular order):
    Phasers: (Defiant, Prometheus, Sovereign)
    Antiproton (Jem'Hadar Attack Ship)
    Disruptor (Elachi S'golth)
    Spiral Wave Disruptor (Galor)
    Polaron (Kumari)
    Tetryon (JHEC)
    Plasma (Jem Carrier)

This ship swapping/loadout stuff is going to make it all the more fun if it means I no longer have to juggle doffs when swapping :D

I really am a traditionalist. I like phasers. And also like the blue phasers that came with the TOS Connie. And also dig the Andorian phasers you can get from the store after you get the Kumari.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for phasers.

It's just one of those things that makes my Star Trek game feel a tinsy bit more Star Trek. That's all it is. The other energies are cool. And I can ooh and ahh over some of the fancy stuff out there. But I prefer plain old vanilla phasers.

Romulan plasma is hands down the best weapon type. Disruptor proc ftw, plus it's plasma so it get +9.5% dmg per science console on top of tac consoles. Nothing else, including fotm antiproton, comes anywhere close in dps.;)

I try to use "canon" weapons with the ships they belong to.

My Fed's all use Phasers, but my Caitian carrier has Tets
    My KDF uses Disruptors
My Romulan uses Rom-Plasma weapons from the Rep system.

For me, it all depends on what my character is and what they're flying.

    Just a few examples:

    ANY Fed Ship: Phasers
    D'kora: Phasers
    Galor: Spiral-Wave Disruptors
    S'golth: Crescent Disruptors
D'deridex: Disruptors (Romulans using Plasma energy weapons never sat well with me; The color looks weird compared to what I'm used to seeing on the show. Torpedoes on the other hand...)
Chel Grett: Polarized Disruptors (Green looks better with the Breen aesthetic. On top of that, they're said to use Disruptors on the show. Also use with Plasma Torpedoes, for obvious reasons)
    Jem'Hadar Dreadnought: Polarons
    Kar'fi: Antiprotons

I prefer Voth Antiproton cannon-based weapons but that takes 1. money and B. Cannon-capable ships and Z. Still more money. In other circumstances I'll defer to disruptors (when I have a good amount of EC) and tetryon (when I don't.)

However I will use phasers for some FED ships because its hard to fly some of the more iconic ones (Sovereign, Galaxy, Defiant classes) and emit anything else.

Well as I am across all factions and careers since like day 2 of launch I use them all except tetryon anymore. dont know why I just kinda dropped the torp use so tets arent my bag, My AP BFAW build is my top and mad DPS off an Oddy with survivability appeals to me.

    Same here.

Starfleet ships: Phaser, KDF: Disruptor, Romulan: Romulan Plasma, D'Kyr: Regular Plasma, Kumari: Andorian Phasers, Atrox: Refracting Tets (my biggest waste of Dilithium so far!), Galor: Spiral Waves.

Just feels wrong having a Galaxy fire green or purple beams.

what is better, rom plasma from rep system or fleet advanced ones?

currently using borg phaser on my sci fed on fleet intrepid, borg tetryon on caitian carrier

on my Klingon tac i use borg antiproton on Mogh battlecruiser, have phased polaron equiped on temporal destroyer, and borg disruptors on bortasque

on my Romulan i still use generic rare plasma MKXI , planning to switch on fleet or rom rep plasma or even elite disruptors maybe later

on my fed tac i fly Kumari so i use andorian fleet phasers, also have antiproton borg on fleet defiant

I use all types on my Reman and Fed, except phasers to be honest and i have to say the best for PVE, by a country mile, is Romulan plasma. Although i am referring mainly to dual beams and beam arrays, as i don't use cannons except on my arkif. For 2 reasons:

    1) Nothing else can even come close to offset the fact that the exp Rom plasma array doesnt drain power with anything.

    2) The 3 set rom debuff attack is probably the best damage+ debuff in the game. Its a boss/gate/cube raper.

Though i do like Tetryon for pvp with the full nukara space sets, and i also use spiral waves on my fed cruiser sometimes, these are also very powerful and i just like the look of them. :)

proton/polaron. with the JH 2 piece set you get a 7% bonus to damage and with a couple of the dyson consoles you get a bonus to the proton damage.

I was right about to ask about these. Right now i'm flying the Romulan Vet ship, so i was debating whether or not to go Romulan Plasma or Fleet plasma. Do the plasma tac consoles boost the lotus? Or would i still be better off going for the Fleet AP?

Rom plasma does slightly less weapon damage than fleet plasmas, but the disruptor proc more than makes it up. The +9.5% dmg per science console plus disruptor proc is utterly OP and makes normal disruptors obsolete.

For the rpers, it's also a slightly bluish green color that matches TV Romulan disruptors perfectly, as opposed klinglon disruptors that are too green, or normal plasma that's too blue.

I vary. Mainly phasers for most of my Fed ships, though my Wells uses AP, my Jem Dread uses Phased Polaron, my Recluse uses Phased Tatryon. I've got a Protonic Polaron/Proton build planned for the Science Destroyer.

I like Nanite Disruptors, Disruptors and Plasma weapons on my Romulans, though I have a Haakona fitted with Phasers and a Mirror Ha'apax with Polarons.

On Klinks - anything goes. I've got Spiral Waves on my Engineer's Bortasqu, and AP beams on my Sci's Vo'Quv and upcoming Nov.
