Any way to disable forum signatures?

falkor2010falkor2010 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Some people post one sentence of text then have like 400 vertical pixels of signature, it's ridiculous; is there any way to turn it off so I don't have to wade through 90 pages of signatures to see 1 page of replies.

Big signature guys; what's the deal? Why do you do that?

Borderline IMO. Post content shouldn't be dwarfed by a sig. For an example of just WOW over the top TRIBBLE i give you:

Signatures could use proper dividers, I often cannot tell a signature apart from the actual posts and can be quite confusing.

Some people just have no patience...so you have to scroll your mouse wheel once or twice more...if you can't handle that how can your fingers manage to type a full message on here.

nope, that's an exploit. that setting will be nerfed. it's giving certain players an unfair advantage when reading the forum while afk-ing the battlezone.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

Sometimes it's more a matter of the signature being distracting. That hasn't really been a problem here for me, but I've found some forums to be annoying to read because of them. Like a dancing, color changing pony for an avatar with a creepy pony thing in the signature, and the poster is very active to say the least.

On rare occasion I've gone so far as to place my hand over the left side of the screen to hide obnoxious avatars. But those are extreme cases.

So yeah, I can't speak for the first guy but it's not always about having to scroll more.

Every sig I've used has been simple. Mostly just name, a pic I like (or in the cases of my Jedi Academy clan and here on the STO forums took myself) and that's about it. keepin' it simple.

The forums actually prevent images from being taller than 150px (I know, I've tried to figure a way around it), and maxium of 5 lines of text (so basically you cant go any taller than about 300 px).

There is a rule, that USED to be enforced about max height of any signature to be the equivalent of 5 lines of text ((12px + 5px)x5) = 85px), but with the "community managed community", that rule has gone down the drain... And it's not because they can't see it... I mean... I've seen more than my fair share of purple names in threads with oversize sigs.

So you might as well just get used to it.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

You do realize our signature is required by PWE? ;)

Obviously where we put our twitter/fb/g+ stuff isn't but the rest all is hehe.

If you feel a signature may be violating the spirit of the guidelines you can report it in the ticket system and they can look over it and make a judgement call :)

You mean that there's seriously the ability to report other one's sig?... I hope it's limited to offensive or the ones which obviously aren't allowed. Cause when people are reported due to sig height or let's say discoballs, where does it stop?

Was fun when I saw it the first time. On neoakiraii, not you. Now I'm confused who made the signature first, but seeing the other creative sigs of neoakiraii, my latinum is on him.

OP, what you have against sigs? Like said above, a maximum size, and usually either funny, a simple picture or something that does make a good point about the game. Don't see how you can get frustated over that.

Or maybe its just because the forums are a bit dull at the moment. Time to shake things up with the important 2014 discussions.

It is one of those "meme" type pictures that goes around like a wildfire these days. You see it here, and there, and everywhere. It does indeed come with certain qualities, when used correctly... ( The variation will be found in the text, adapted for different situations. )
