So the first hop is your router...
The second hop is your ISP modem/gateway with a greater then 1.3 second delay.... with 0.18 seconds the recommended upper limit for network latency... hmmmmm....
Try rebooting/powercycling the modem/gateway and see if this improves things...
If it doesn't, then you should contact your ISP and have them send someone to take a look at that modem/gateway...
I was afraid you'd say that. I don't know how many times I've rebooted the modem/gateway since this problem started. Short of ripping out the power cable from the back, I've pretty much tried everything. Even hooking directly from the computer to the gateway, bypassing the router altogether (it's been the source of innumerable other issues in the past, but apparently this isn't its fault).
As for contacting my ISP... *Mad cackle* they're phasing out support to my state, wanting us to go with a different brand of satellite (which isn't offered in my state, ironically...) and won't talk to us beyond "reset your modem by unplugging it"... I don't think they even have any techs out in this neck of the woods who can tell a mouse from a modem....
I have changed ISP's (which took 8 weeks since my application) and I am now able to connect to STO at last! Still no idea what was causing the problem in the first place. This last resort may work for others that are having this problem.
Who'd you go with? And please don't say cable. We don't have cable out here....

I am based in Australia using NBN Satellite. Was using iiNet for my ISP, and am with Skymesh.
Sounds like you have a wider selection of satellite ISPs. We've got Hughes.net, WildBlue, Exede and Dish. Of those... only WildBlue services New Mexico. Bleh. Didn't hurt to ask, though. Thanks.

I live in South Australia and have the same problem, and also have a satellite connection, and also have been experiencing this exact same problem since season 8

... Welcome to the club? *hands a T-Shirt* I filed a ticket in hopes of getting something out of the developers, but so far they're insisting there's nothing wrong at their end. *Sighs* Guess us poor saps just have to hang on and hope, neh?

Still can't enter my favourite mmo
I'm already with Skymesh and I'm not going to change ISP for this one issue.
It's a really great game and I was having a lot of fun but this looks to be it for me, oh well
I am unable to connect to the patch server to even launch the game. Internet connection OK. The system is ultimately trying to connect to "patchserver2". Not sure what is going on.
I was having this same problem were the game would timeout well connecting to the on-demand patch server. I am also using satalight internet.
I disabled on demand patching and downloaded all the patches. Then before I clicked engage, I went into the founder and deleted the contents of the patch folder. I was able to log in. So far it all seems to be working without any trouble.

Had this error come up again a few times tonight.
Just kept trying to login and eventually got in game

The last post was from 2013, then necro'd recently so my statement still applies.
