its not really that lazy if some of the names are ones that never made it on screen, and are all ones of major importance in universe, there are plenty of other names for both factions, it would have been lazy to just use random ones without thought to the originals impact
If it wasn't for the fact there is an entire Klingon Language out there, I would agree with you.
Thats why Starfleet's elite ground forces are MACOs rather than Hazard Teams, why the Klingons and Romulans use a mix of 200+ year old designs mixed with brand new ones and the Cardie's only use 3 designs rather than the extensive fleets they had in Armada
I find it hard to believe that they went with the names they did because of licensing. They're more likely to have used MACO because it's already known to Trek fans. As per the older ships, that's most likely down to time; it's easier to create a ship that already has a design, than it is to design an entirely new ship.
I thought Mogh's name was eventually cleared, but Worf agreed to keep it a secret to preserve the stability of the empire? It's been awhile.
If I remember rightly, Gowron initially cleared Mogh's name, then he (de)cleared it. I can't remember what Martok did with it. All this said, J'mpok doesn't allow Worf into the Great Hall, so you wouldn't think J'mpok would launch a ship named after the farther of Worf.
...this isn't even the first time Mogh is referenced by a ship in the game; there's an I.K.S. Mogh's Revenge that's part of the Klingon fleet sent to fight the Planet Killer in the Fed storyline mission "Doomsday Device".
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...

Another stupid ship name. Since when did the Klingon's start using English to name a ship?

Would you let a Kingmaker with a habit for killing leaders he disagrees with anywhere near you?
If it wasn't for the fact there is an entire Klingon Language out there, I would agree with you.
There is NOT an entire Klingon language, there is a pseudo-language. A full language requires active speakers, and evolution over time based on changes from dialects and the advancement of culture.
See, other people can be just as pedantic as you. :P
#1 i'm burned out on STO ships (seriously, i don't even care for FREE ships anymore).
#2 i thought KDF Ships don't sell? ( i guess we are done with Romulan Ships now? bring on that Cardassian Faction in 6 months, we need a new $200 ship pack to sell!!! )
#3 that thing is just UGLY,
seriously you guys are in desperate need of a Ship guy with some real talent and love for the original Trek designs.
If it isn't a carbon copy of a canon TV design... it always turns out as a clunky polygon disaster i don't even want to look at.
And we are all out of Canon TV Ships...!!! (i am seriously scared that STO can't output anymore ships ever that make me go "oooh shiny").
You might want to consider to upgrade your Ship Design Team, because Ships are your bread and butter. (not my fault that you put yourself in that corner, i would have been happy with a lot of other things to buy in this game too).
I feel like the Ships are getting more meaningless with every new release, more ugly, more derivative, no more interesting C-Store consoles and only builds that we already had 5 times before...
while the pricetags are still top shelf of course.
And NO that it is the first KDF ship in ages doesn't help me to get excited either if the first thing i think when looking at the screenshot is *eeeewwwww*.
Wahhh, it doesn't look like the ToS or NG ships, why don't they just release models of these few ships with different boff seatings over and over again? I don't like the design because it's different!
Regarding the name, I'd be curious about that explanation as well actually. I'm pretty sure Martok restored the house of Mogh back to honour even without it being shown on screen, J'mpok however, is not really a fan of Worf or Martok.
The name could be seen as a way to appease Martok supporters, though, After all, He is loosing influence and the house of Martok must have gained some strengh after exposing and destroying the house or Torg.
The ship as a hole looks a little too much like the Veteran destroyer and could go with less pimp my spaceship like decals, but it doesn't look bad and the leaked stats are interesting as well, I kinda like "ugly workhorse" type ships like the avenger. Also always had a thing for the A10 and B52 designs.

...And I thought the Avenger looked bad. This looks like a massive mess of textures, reused bits and... hey, is that laziness I see in that design? Sorry Cryptic, but it only takes me a few seconds to identify most of the polygons visible in that ship, and something's certainly wrong with that. Unless it's just that it's a preliminary set of textures making it look bad.

it looks very Klingon to me almost all Klingon ships are boxy and if they used some designs they have adapted it to look more Klingon i can kinda see what your saying but lazy they are not it looks beautiful in a Klingon way it looks like it really means business it Honestly looks good bit of an Homage to the Vorcha in terms of looks but different enough to be defined as a new ship with more guns i might buy this for my klinks

There is enough of the language to create some unique Klingon ship names.
The Valdore was Donatra's ship in Nemesis (and then she carried the name over to the Scimitar variant that served as her flagship up to when she was assimilated), and itself was retconned as being named after an ENT-era Romulan admiral.
The D'ridthau was the name of the Romulan flagship in an early script of "What You Leave Behind."
The Haakona was the D'deridex saved from the Iconian virus by the Enterprise.
A tulwar and a falchion are two more kinds of curved swords.
R'Mor was the Romulan scientist who contacted Voyager through a temporal anomaly, and the Talvath was his ship.
and our haakona advanced warbird is named after the d'deridex version lol
The Haakona Advanced Warbird is a Vice Admiral (Tier 5) level Warbird. This vessel is an upgraded version of the Ha'apax Advanced Warbird. The ship class is named after the I.R.W. Haakona, a D'deridex captained by Subcommander Taris in the 24th Century.
And why is the Klingon Empire naming a ship after Mogh, who was never publicly cleared of being a traitor, was he?
Mogh was completely cleared as shown by the warrior who posted Gowron's words. While Worf was temporarily dishonored again, I doubt that Gowron's discommendation will stick with Worf in Martok's house and the fact that Worf killed him. Considering how Gowron was behaving, he'll probably be happily forgotten.
As for why the ship would be named after him, it's entirely possible that the ship and/or class was in fact commissioned by the House of Martok, by which, Worf could've named it after his own father. Klingons don't have a central ship commissioning authority like the Federation or the Romulans. Each house has their own lands, ships, and troops that they pledge to the service of the Klingon Defense Force. Which is why when Worf and Kurn offered Gowron their support they also spoke of the ships that they had at their disposal.

What is wrong with you? You are just making up stuff to whine about.

Really? I'd do everything I could to appease him to keep him from coming after me, or at least make him look as ungrateful as possible if he does

Sweet mother of God.
A C-Store KDF ship :O
You just made a sale. Releasing on Thursday?

I once found a klingon translator thing....
Bortas means 'secret' (infact the Bortas was a secret prototype)
Somraw means 'muscle' (infact the fleet issue really keeps up to the name)
i searched other names aswell, but don't remember them all...
Doesn't seem the traditional Klingon way though, does it?
Pretty sure Bortas means Vengeance with Bortas'qu meaning something like Super Vengeance
Wrong ....
bortaS - (noun) - revenge
...and that's been verified.

I would have to agree.
Just like the fact the KDF are getting something and enjoy it, 'cause it might not happen again for quite a while.
