I responded to this thread:

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=916471

In that thread Rey suggested a whole new thread for the question of

What ship did you Toil and Save for and then once you got it were not impressed and its now in Drydock?

For me its the Jem'Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier

Andorian Kumari Escort... just too fragile for me. The Steamrunner was a much better use of $25.

    *Ashamed*

I spend like 80$ on keys to get the JHEC (which is a decent ship)
But the turnrate is just awful for a small ship.

The Boff layout is decent, and the console you get is very nice for a Tac Captain.
I dunno tho, just haven't enjoyed it that much. Probably because I opened it with my Sci captain :(
Dumb thing to do I guess. (I was still new to STO at that point)
But I essentially wasted that ship :(

If I could go back, I'd give it to my Tac Captain, then maybe it would be a little more appealing. And not collect dust in Dry Dock.

Orb Weaver. Won one out of a lockbox and I should've left it packed because my sci character flies a Vesta 100% of the time.

    Lol

Well Im not a fed primarily but I can still answer this question.

    Across 6 six toons:

JHAS - wasted it on a fed I never play
Jem Carrier, Jem Escort Carrier, Orb Weaver, Recluse, Adapted battle cruiser, Adapted cruiser, D'Kora, Temporal Destroyer, & Temporal Sci ship

I like my Breen Cruiser for my sci, Galor for 1 of my Tac, JHAS for my other tac, and Fleet Torkaht ( ? ) for my eng

lol... ah If only I had all those keys back.

Excelsior: Cruisers really are my true love and I know the Excelsior is one of the BEST cruisers, but I simply can't get past the looks and the age of the thing.

Armitage: Math says I kick butt in it, but it just doesn't 'fit like a glove' the way my old Patrol Escort did.

Kar'fi: I keep trying, tinkering, wanting to make this thing work because I know how powerful it can be, but every layout I come up with, I end up back at "and my Vo'quv could probably do it better."

    Galaxy-X Dreadnought Cruiser.

Bought it expecting a lot, wasn't much of an upgrade to the AC then, still isn't now.

Both the Romulan Tal-shiar lockbox ship. Both ships are nowhere near as good as the Fleet or c-store Romulan ships. As far as lockbox ships go I think these are the worst, with the JH Escourt carrier and Jem Dread being next. I have both the new Voth ships bt have not unpacked them yet.

For me it was the D'Kyr. The Fleet Olympic...well just even the standard T5 Olympic blows the D'Kyr out of the water. The only useful thing in that purchase was the shuttle. It's actually nice, but the ship itself is out classed by almost everything now. It really needs a fleet version badly.

The wells temporal science ship. Only for the console.

Tried it out on my Mobius, was super impressed by it but I only bust it out for no win scenario.

2 consoles are a pain to slot when you have all lobi consoles and the leech. And the Manheim device is garbage....should be updated to a warp shadow affect
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

    The Bellopheron.

I was looking for an upgrade that was "better" than what I could get for free by leveling AND special hull skin. I used it for about a week. That's it :(

Temporal science vessel. It was the first box ship i bought, back in the day. I took it for some spins at the time, but 99 days out of 100, its parked. 30 mill ec is not an offly lot, but still...
    Would sell if i could.

Second would be the Kumari pack. I was a big escort fan up until then and i bought it.
Sad part is that i evolved into using sci vessels and cruisers more after that.

On the other end of the spectrum, the best i've got was the tal shiar adapted battlecruiser.
I loved it so much, that i bought one more for another character.

I never just keep ships in drydock. Never understood why anyone would, as it seems that the equipment makes the ship far more than the stats do. I just toy with the loadouts till I have something I like. Though I even do this even on tier 1-4 ships, even though they're patently weaker than tier 5s.

I don't like wasting things that have this much customizability.

I have just about every ship, but the ones that haven't seen action since unpacking after week 1 are:

    -Galor Cruiser
    -D'Kyre
    -JH Escort Carrior
    -JH Dreadnought Carrier
    -All the Kumari's
    -All the Vesta's
    -Wells Time Ship
    -MVAM
    -Yellowstone Runabout
    -Avenger
    -Nebula
    -Ambassador Cruiser (still boxed)
    -Obelisk Carrier (still boxed)
    -Tuffli (still boxed)
    -Tal'Shiar Adapted Destroyer
    -Tal'Shiar Adapted Cruiser
    -Fleet Tactical Cruiser Retrofit

The ships that I still use regularly are:

    -Fleet Advanced Escort
    -Fleet Patrol Escort
-Mirror Patrol Escort (for MVAM features)
    -Fleet Defiant
    -Breen Chel Grette Warship
    -S'Golth Escort (occasionally)
    -Galaxy-X Dreadnought Cruiser
-Mobius Destroyer (full Temporal Warfare Set + Gravimetric Torp FTW!)
    -Fleet Armitage HEC
    -JHAS

    For me it's the following:

    - Wells, just fugly (even for 7M EC)
    - Heavy Escort Carrier, stupid AI pets
    - Heavy Escort Refit, thought the console would be awesome but had uber long CD
    - All the Vesta's, wet paper hull
    - Vandal destoyer, just wanted the console
    - Ning'tao, just wanted the quad disruptors
    - Dhael Warbird, just wanted the looks on my fleet version
    - Galor, never really liked Cardassians or Cardassian design for that matter, though its a pretty good A2B cruiser.
    - Galaxy Exploration Cruiser, boy what a mistake that was..
    - Galaxy Dreadnought, boy what a bigger mistake that was..
    - Ambassador
    - Chel Grett

I'm not gonna lie, I own a ton of ships that I don't use. I can think of two instances.

    1. My Fed Engineer. I picked up the Galaxy-X for him and I think I used it for a week and have never touched it since. I'ts been years. I also picked up the Oddy pack for him, used it for a month or two, but I eventually went back to my Fleet Assault Cruiser.

I dunno. I just feel like that ship fits the best. I love it. It feels.. comfortable.

    2. I bought the Bellerophon to get the skin for my Fed Science.. and I used it and *loved* it.. but then the Vesta came out, and being the Destiny and Ezri Dax fan that I am I bought it. I still haven't quite gotten used to the Vesta yet. I can't seem to get it set up in a way that it really meshes with me. I've refused to give up though.

I think the best choice I've ever made for a character is the Fleet D'deridex for my Romulan. I bought that for him and have never looked back. I *love* it.

I've been flying the Armitage for a while, but I really want to dock it and go back to my MVAE. It just felt stronger, and I've been generally unimpressed with my fighters' performance.

I also have the Steamrunner that I've never used, but I got great use out of the T1 version.

First off anyone saying the Vestas have wet paper hulls just don't know how to build them, they're probably still the best ships in the game.... now that that's out of the way....

My main ship I leave dry-docked is the Bortasqu' 3 pack ships. I have tried so many different builds trying to make them awesome and it just can't be done. It's advertised as "The most powerful ship in the Klingon Fleet" which I suppose CAN be true against a stationary target with 4 DHC and what not... but it's not realistically going to happen. Anytime I give this class another shot I find myself back in my Fleet Tor'kaht within 2 missions or so. The Auto-cannon is advertised to do "Devastating damage" which it really does not, it just acts like another nonspecial white quality DHC damage wise so disappointing when compared to the Vesta's phaser lance, or any of the 1000 day destroyer lotuses. It's supposed to be this big badass cruiser but every time I try to tank in it, I find myself missing my Tor'kaht or Mirror Vo'Quv.

    Ummmm, lets see, for me?

Just about every ship I got before lock boxes started.

Why? Each new lock box ship has to add that extra umph in order to be enough of a draw to get one to spend so much money on them.

So once you get them, how can those plain Jane ships compete?

It's not a coincidence that some of the best go to ships in the game are now lock box ships.
(The Jem Hadar Attack ship - best escort, the Wells - best science ship, the Tholian Recluse - best healer)

With but a few exceptions, (like the Schimitar, or the Avenger) most zen store bought ships need a fleet version to be on par with these lock box ships.

If you were to tie me down for a specific answer tho, I'd have to say I'm still kinda busted up about the galaxy class and all her variants.

At one time, they all stay in dry dock. However I rotate my ships, so they don't stay in there long. I do this on all my characters.

Wait...when did they add an adapted cruiser? Stats or pics for it? As far as I new they only had an Adapted Battle Cruise and an Adapted Destroyer.

Second main (Tac) JHDC one eng alt flying a mirror time ship one alt testing the sci oddy in the Borg invasions vs the regent. I just cannot get use to escorts and the atrox Does not have the punch and maneuverability I want. If the atrox had either lcdr or CD-r Tac, or dual lt Tac slots it would be awesome

Hmm.. Atrox.. is probably the only one I sometimes pull out to try a new build with it.. and then immediately put it back to mothball status because of its underwhelming performance.

Most of my characters tend to bounce around between ships and usually come back to various ships I've collected at some point.

Edit: Oh!, and the Risian corvette. Shame I never got around to the crazy broad-side evader build I had in mind for them.

Retrofit Defiant, Sau Paulo, Galaxy X- ALL dry docked (or discharged)

Temporal mirror was opened for its console to put on wells- mothballed, time ships failed my intended purpose, GFG cheese wedge I never fly (full time set)

Ive bought prolly 50%+ of all the c-store ships for consoles including the WRONG Excelsior, atrox = 100% fail, and a plethora of small useless (rhode island) ships.. The TOS connie was at least pretty but the retro fit weapons ended p sucking..

    Rademaker
    Vesta,
    Kumari
    Khyzon
    Engineering Odyssey
    Science Odyssey

I bought the 3-packs and I'm just using one version without the obsolete and aweful consoles that came with them. At least the Vesta still had some costume parts I was able to use on the Aventine.

    other than that:

    - Marauder Patrol cruiser (needs a fleet version)
    - Regent (should have directly bought the Fleet Assault Cruiser)
    - Oberth, NX, Gladius, Stalker

More than those ships above, I regret some Lobi purchases. I bought 3 sets (Ferengi, Elachi, Temporal) with a total of 9 parts for 1.800 Lobi total and the only things I'm still using are the 3 consoles. I bought the keys with EC, but to think Cryptic made ~$360 from that (someone lese dished out real $$ after all) is just sad...
