Looks like I'm not the only who has an Atrox collecting dust. I see everyone is happy with their Scimitar. I haven't seen that ship on this list (or the Avenger).
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.
In all truth, I had hard choices to make, no matter what I did since for me it was all about look and "feel". personally I enjoyed my Galaxy X, for my Eng, I had it built almost as wicked as the Stadi in the Mirror event.
With the right parts any ship can be made impressive but that also has to do with play style. I went from the Galaxy X to the Avenger, same parts, Little ship really Rocks but I have the Galaxy X on another character as I know its a decent ship.
Atrox, Scimitar all ended up good ships for me, stats aside its how you play the ship that counts.
My only mistakes were adding the Galor to a sci offy that really didnt help her at all:(, changed her to a Kar'Fi, best investment I think.
And for those Naysayers? My friend plays a D'Kora marauder and has no problems with it at all, maybe its how she set it up and her game style.
Interestingly, this is probably yet another whole new thread in itself, because the Scimitar doesn't fall into the catergory of 'buyer remorse' for me.
As I said in an earlier post, I realise it's all about personal taste, and I have no doubt whatsoever that some of my personal favorites are going to be someone else's least favorite. And whilst making judgements on ships based on how it looks may, arguably, be slightly shallow, I LOATHE the Scimitar. I hated it in Nemesis. I hate it now. It's the epitome of a cliche - evil ship is evil so it has to be huge. And have lots of pointy bits. And guns sticking out all over the place. And look aggressive.... blah blah blah yawn.
And I don't care how uber it is, how high the DPS it can achieve may be, I could not fly something that looks like the by-product of an unholy joining of a bat and a door-wedge.
That was funny...
I admit the Scimitar isn't the prettiest ship (for me that honor goes to the Odyssey, no matter what angle I look at that ship, it's sexy), but even in my Jem Dreadnought I respect the destructive power of a Scimitar. I guess the uglier a ship is the more powerful it is. Because the Klingon ships are hideous, but they are also powerful.
I want a JHAS but so many people on here regret having one. I wonder what it is about it? I personally want one because it's a smaller, more agile version of my Jem Dreadnought (with only 1 hangar). I enjoy my JHDC but every once in a while I wish it were as agile as my vesta or Advanced escort.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.
My Fed Engi ended up settling into a Recluse carrier, which left the following ships in mothballs:
* Jem Dread (beautiful ship, but I'm still upset about the JHAS pet lockout)
* JHEC (bought it for the console... never seriously used the console)
* FACR (powerful ship, but dull compared to the Recluse)
I never actually unpacked most of my Obelisk carriers. Didn't see the point - a plain old Mirror Vo'quv blows it away.
Oh, just put my beloved T'varo away for awhile to TRIBBLE around with a WTFpwnBBQFAW Scimitar, but I don't expect it to stay in mothballs. (Worst case, I'll just level up another toon to fly a T'varo.)
Yer Scimi is weaksauce... Requires my Nebie drain boat to kill cubes... lol J/K
Myself.. Regent, Obelisk, several mirror ships, Q'in raptor, Vo'quv(I like the mirror version better).

The Avenger- I keep trying it but it only last a few hours then goes away in favor of my vesta (sci toon) and Kumari (tac toon)
On tac its a good ship, but my main toon, a sci, I just can't make it work (fleet version even). Maybe if I had a eng it would be different, but I don't feel like leveling a new toon at this time.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.
In that thread Rey suggested a whole new thread for the question of
What ship did you Toil and Save for and then once you got it were not impressed and its now in Drydock?
For me its the Jem'Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier
Really? I love my JHDC, but then I am a big carrier pilot... I struggle to answer this really as all the zen ships I've bought I like, I've never won a ship (other than mirror ones) from lockboxes, all those have been kind donations... I'd have to say it'd be my Guramba at the moment, I'm in the process of outfitting it but I'm just not sure what to do with it, I tried building it as the big brother of my scourge, since it has the same layout, but that didn't work too well, I'm trying single cannons on it at the moment but feel a bit unimpressed with that too, ,might try working on its turn rate some more... Not sure yet but that's my answer until I can figure the ship out!

the D'kora has the most play time on it as it was my main ship for a very long time but now ive been jumping between voth ships. the Assault cruiser refit has to be the shortest time ive played on any ship. to me its the only ship that i didn't think it was a good buy but live and learn.
The Vesta. I so wanted a vice admiral level science ship and when it finally came I bought the three pack. It was practically like turn myself into a ball of gas and plasma on opening them. I could not do stfs nor even pve in them. So after all that it sits alone while I fly an Atrox or any other ship.

I like to collect the ship, so I have to say, I haven't used a very good number of them. I picked up loads when they had a 50% (I think) sale years ago.
Really? I love my JHDC, but then I am a big carrier pilot.....
Finally I'm not the only person that loves their JHDC. I was starting to feel really lonely in this thread.
I'm also a big fan of carriers (and look forward to what dual hangar carrier Cryptic will be releasing with this season).
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.
To be honest, and no offense intended, a sci character is always a poor choice for the Avenger since it has, pretty much, zero emphasis on science powers.
At best, IF you use the uni BOFF slot for sci, you can slot two Lt Sci BOFFs. But with only one Sci console slot, those BOFFS won't be very effective at all.
And whilst the Fleet version offers two Sci console slots, that still doesn't make it a viable choice for a sci character.
Basically it ends up like being like a sci-scort, a fun diversion, but then who needs that when you have a tac who could fly it.
For me it is the Oddy. Certainly a good ship, just not as good as the fleet excelsior, and now that I have an avenger, my oddy will probably never see the stars again.
The Odyssey (tac) that I bought last year. It's been replaced by my Ambassador and then more recently by my Avenger. Both the Ambassador and the Avenger have significantly better turn rates, and that really hurt my enjoyment of the Oddy, regardless of the hull strength difference.
It's too bad, as I do really like the look of the Odyssey, and especially love the bridge that comes with it, but my other two cruisers provide a better overall play experience, for me at least.
One thing that I do never use though, is some costumes I've bought. Either they aren't compatible with other parts I want to use them with, their textures are old/outdated, or they're Off Duty. :P
The Odyssey is a good ship but, as you say, has been outclassed by ships introduced afterward. Sad in itself, but at least the Odyssey hasn't been left as far behind as the poor old Galaxy class.
very true....very true that has to be the most disrespected ship in the game. Everyday I notice 3 people asking or demanding something about the Galaxy class.

When you realize how ancient the Galaxy design is compared to the Odyssey, it make sense that the Galaxy would be far behind the Odyssey. And now that the Odyssey has been left in the dust by the Avenger, the Galaxy is simply showing its age even more.
Odyssey could be useful if they ever decide to make tanks useful in this game, but the Galaxy just needs to be scrapped entirely.

When do you realize that the "age" argument is not valid as long as the Excelsior and Ambassador classes are viable at T5? And even if they weren't, the age argument has no meaning anyway since the Exploration Cruiser is not only the Galaxy Class which hasn't even reached half of it's intended lifespan, but also the Venture, Celestial, Envoy and Monarch types which have been comissioned the exact same year the Odyssey and Avenger have first left the drydock.

Funny how a great many players consider the "age" argument to be perfectly valid when talking about the Constitution and Enterprise classes. Double standard, or mere arrogance? Either way, the Galaxy is a rusty bucket by 2409.

Please reconsider ARC. Please make it optional, at the least. PLEASE.
It seems the vast majority of your most active players (forum regulars) hate the idea... and while that's a small subset of the playerbase, I think it's an important constituency.
THE PLAYERS DO NOT WANT THIS.
I swap ships on my characters a lot, I've only got one or two that I only stick to one ship with. That being said, I managed to get a Ferengi D'Kora from a Trek Radio contest during the Odyssey launch celebration because my Prometheus was really cool-looking, should've left the thing boxed. I think that, the Elachi ships, the Tal'Shiar ships, and the temporal destroyers are the only lockbox/lobi ships I don't really care for. It's not a bad ship, I just don't really have a reason to use it, especially with a Defiant and Armitage loaded and ready.

I Bought a Tac Oddy when it came out even though for a long time I really wanted the Gal-X, I finally got round to buying the Gal-X a few months after and switched between the 2 for a while. it's been at least a year maybe 2 since I used the Gal-X but oh well.
There's also the Stalker Fighter shuttle which I bought for it's looks and although it is my current shuttle I shouldn't have bothered, I don't even like how it looks anymore
There's also the B'Rel retrofit, admittedly I never got round to building her properly but I hated flying it way way too squishy and what do you really gain?
On a side note I've been thinking of trying 4 RCS consoles on the Gal-X just for fun :P
Atrox
Heavy Escort Carrier
Galaxy
Galaxy - X
Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit
Long Range Science Vessel
Advanced Research Vessel
Regent

Basically most of the T5 Pay ships, with so many sitting in mothballs i couldnt bring mysefl to even LOOK at the Andorian or Vesta line.
I fly an Oddy usually Tac or Sci cause the Ops sits in mothballs because it really doesnt have anything that says "ringing endorsement" At least the Sci has Sensor Analysis and Tac has the extra Tac slot.....

I don't know about others, at least I don't. Of each and every ship on Starfleet side we have a 2409 refit with type 6 hull material. The Venture, Sao Paolo, Bellerophon, Armitage, Avenger and Odyssey are of the same design lineage. They are brand new ships. Refit a T2 Exeter with that skin and make it a fleet version, I'm fine with that. And even if they don't, I'm fine with TOS connies at endgame. I'd rather fight next to canon ships regardless of age instead of alien lockbox ships.
To me it would be a problem if the T2 fleet cruiser suddenly has LTC tac and 4 tac consoles
And no, the Galaxy, even the original one, is not an old rust bucket. It was retrofitted and is en par with the other ships, it's intented lifespan doesn't expire untul the 2460's. The Miranda and Constitution/Constellation probably aren't because their old hull design has limits but the Excelsior and Ambassador ignore that as well.

Just this right here. I've noticed the very same thing, sometimes, put forth by Galaxy-class users/lovers. But they'll denigrate anyone wanting ANY of the T1-2 ships, refitted to fleet level. And age/tech are their very first argument(s). I'd personally love to see more of the lower tier ships redone, after all, if the T1 escort, can be a fleet ship, why not the vast majority of the others?
And so far, I can't say I have any ships I've "worked" for, mothballed because I don't wish to fly them, pretty much either on some characters, I just have a preference (like on my FedEng for her Fleet Excelsior & MU Assault Cruiser), or I just haven't finished building the ship up (missing weapons &/or consoles).
As far as ships I don't really care if I get, most of the "top-tier" lockbox ships, I could care less if I get, other than maybe to sell. But I'm slowly making my way through getting the C-Store ships.
