The Alien Carrier is the Obelisk

omegaphallicomegaphallic Member Posts: 101 Arc User
As it says in the title. I found out on a tribble forum section thread.

There will be a fleet verison and its not Voth. Obelisk reminds me of spires so its obvious its created by whoever made the Dyson Sphere.

There is also Obelisk Swarm hangar pets, which it sounds like the Voth use as well.

Possible, but not enough information to confirm. If there is a Fleet version and it is called Fleet Obelisk Carrier, then it would be at Spire Tier 3 with the other Fleet Carriers. Chances are if the Obelisk Carrier is the Alien Carrier, then the one from Spire Tier 1 is just the basic version. However, some fleet has to get to Tier 1 to confirm for sure.

I wonder if the name "swarm" for the hanger pets was just randomly selected, or was meant to be referencing something else. Still, if you're adding an Obelisk ship to the game I wouldn't mind fighting this one.

I assume Cryptic is getting around to following up on the return of the Preservers in the Deferi Featured Episode Series from over three years ago.

    The Preservers use obelisks.

My guess is that we're seeing further dot connecting. The Preservers were known for relocating species or cultures (including one group of American Indians) to preserve them.

I've been guessing for awhile that Cryptic was going to reveal the Preservers created the Dyson Sphere from Relics and were responsible for sending the Voth to the Delta Quadrant.

It seems like they probably should be the experts we consult on the Iconians and it makes some sense for them to give us ships.

Huh...that makes a terrifying amount of sense. Would certainly tie things together into a neat story.

So the Galaxy would be trapped between the Perservers and the Iconians. Sounds interesting, very Babylon 5.

This could be pretty cool storyline wise.

We know that the Iconians were originally defeated by a coalition of empires that came together and destroyed the Iconian empire planet by planet. What if the Preservers were the ones who brought that coalition together? It would fit with their MO of protecting cultures.

What if the Voth were a part of that Coalition? What if the Sphere is an Preserver Sphere, the Voth know the Iconians are returning and as such have returned to the sphere to look for aid from the Preservers in the coming war?

It does make sense. Which is why it probably won't happen.

Also, a few tiny flaws with the theory:

    1) The preservers we meet are pretty adamant about not having weapons.
    2) We find them in a cave on a remote planet but they can build dyson spheres?

    1) If I remember correctly, they weren't adamant about having weapons, they just had none in their Archive to give the Breen, probably because they knew how terribly dumb it would be to keep unimaginably powerful weapons in one of the only, if not THE only, places/place you still are...

    2) They have the technology to travel about and seed the Galaxy with humanoid life and you doubt their ability to build Dyson Spheres?

    Angels vs Demons!

Maybe we'd even find the original inspiration for the Valkjyr amongst the Preservers... and the humans relocated by them. :D

Mhm... I like the Idea of a Preserver-Iconian Conflict as I liked the Vorlon-Shadow Conflict :)

Hope they make something out of it... having the new Dyson Sphere another "Archive"-Type Installation with more Preservers and the Voth either manipulated by the Iconians or trying to get the Preservers as stated here :)

At least that's what I get to build into my RP until proven otherwise ^^

Same reason why there are multiple planets with Humans. Someone obviously transported them there. Horta are the best miners in the galaxy that we know of. They require absolutely no expensive mining equipment to do their job and can reach places that are impossible or too costly with current technology. So it makes sense for the Federation to transport Horta to various planets that are very rich in valuable resources.

So the Galaxy would be trapped between the Perservers and the Iconians. Sounds interesting, very Babylon 5.

The problem is the Iconians were an empire more comparable to the Tkon Empire than the Preservers/Ancient Humanoids, who seeded all humanoid life in our galaxy, and probably beyond.

Now, if it were discovered that it was the Iconians who, like the present situation the Romulans face, were responsible for the destruction of the Tkon home star, then I'd be more excited; especially since we still have a means to contact and get help from the last of the Tkon, whom I'm sure would want payback.

This is actually covered in one of the Star Trek novels. Right when the Tkon were going to replace their dying star with a better one, the main villain of the book decided to destroy their star because he doesn't like losing.
