I love my atrox, and I always really liked the D'kyr as a pure science and support ship. The deep space science vessel also has a nice design.
Havent tried the temporal ships, though, so they may be good as well - I do like the appearance, but I'm not fond of the poorly made bridge.
Atox is nice ship I like the blue effect ... its really nice this toon is for sci only so I might get both atox and vesta ... I have engineer and other toons for each there own ships... I cant afford reset every time rofl... but thanks thanks for this helps a ton might look into atox and put some elite stuff in it like scorpion fighters

Baudi's first response to your question was that you didn't need to fly a science ship just because you were using a science captain. He went on to say that engineers and tactical captains are actually better suited to flying science ships then science captains are. So there was no reason you should fly a science ship if you didn't want to.
This is 100% true. Setting aside what ever you may find fun, the abilities of a science captain provide a far greater advantage to escorts then any other ship type.
Now cryptic misrepresent the classes in STO a fair bit. They certainly promote escorts for tacs, science ships for science characters and cruisers for engineers. But the only difference between the captains in space is a different set of 5 captain abilities and a couple of unique traits.
So to decide which ship type a captain can get the most use out of all we have to do is look at their captain abilities and work out how we could exploit them with each ship.

I can agree but sci has is usefulness in some areas like they bring all the enemy's together and toss in some other ability's ... Like gravity well to bring the enemy's together while the tac shoot em down in groups like in No win I see good sci captain pulling groups together with sci ship and keeping the ship alive... And I seen good vesta players as well ... its just different depends on how you use it... however I use a sci ship I never found my selfs in spot were I could say I am not good at what I fly .. All captains depend on the player rather then person it self .. Like me I like flying sci ships I will make myself useful helping with many things bye using certain skills.. they did buff sci awhile back its small buff but it helps.. How ever some of the sci ability's have usefulness in pvp like jamming senors aoe buff makes all friendly in pvp. I am going to use sci carrier why well I have nice build to make my usefulness in game and make it work ... tac captains good at damage that's there role engineer good at healing and have few shield regen skills... Sci captain good at healing and has transfer shields skill ..Good sci captain in good ship no matter what ship makes huge difference .. I have seen good Sc captains in vesta and atox just not that many around but there around my friend poped gravity well like 3 4 em at once it stacked and he was good player he uses some of the sci ability's there also mines and gravity well you can do lots of mix ups to make ship useful

Yep I agree but just to pop in and tell some one play this and this is not cool rofl... Just point out your reasons and why they don't like it much and what they think ... that's cool not every one likes the same thing not every one likes flying escorts ... I fly my scimitar instead of escort why because I like the ship ..I like the vesta and atox .. Not many like the same ships that's call Varity in different players.. How ever I play fine I do stfs just fine I never found self lacking behind on anything. Sure I don't get high dps but that's not what I go for if I wanted dps I play my rommy tac scimitar were I get big numbers.... if you like escorts that nice I like vesta and big ships for my sci toon... Plus it costly to retrait all the time since it cost zenny this is why I want only sci toon in sci ships I tried escorts I am not getting anything like Varity instead I am getting dps which very boring ... How ever if I go atox I could put some elite scorpions fighters and some other ability's to help dps ..... I don't like playing escort on every toon because I played escorts all the time its fun but just not that fun ... I always find my self doing something useful I play fine with my sci toon I am just waiting on my atox and vesta bundle ...I am old school I like ships with captains that's just how I play and I don't find myself lacking behind ... its all on the player not the ship it self:cool:

I know sci lacks damage that's a tacs job.... just like every other class each good with there role.. I Don't really care much about how sci does because I play fine with sci in sfts .. my role is support damage I don't do a lot of damage but that's not my goal... my play style is more vesta and carrier type and let my fighters do the damage :O...Again this form is not about tacs its about sci ships .. if you think sci lacks damage that's good for you ... I like sci I love the classs and the ships if I wanted do damage I play tac same with engineer each has different ability's.. I just play 3 classes since cryptic put zenny on respecting I am not wasting my time with respecting sci toon into sci dps plus that play style don't fit me well I like sci to be in sci ships... I will do fine I play sci in stfs I never had a complaint about my role .. I have not seen any one complain to me sci sucks you suck as sci get out the stf.... fact is, you can have "fun" in any combo you want...does that mean the 3 classes and 3 ship types are balanced? certainly not.
sci ships in general lack behind escorts and certain cruisers...carriers not so much, and the vesta stands for itself.
the science class (the captain) lacks in PVE, only because the content is geared towards max dmg for max efficency...if neither is a concern to the player, those facts do not matter.
next misconception is that people feel obligated to fly sci vessels with their science captain, which is probably the worst thing you can do for the PVE content of this game, since everything becomes more difficult and time consuming...again if this is intended by the player, go for it.
i just know it is a selfinflicted constriction that often results in frustration over class and ship, and that doesn't need to be.
in my experiance people that switch to escorts with their sci toons are happier people. Ofcourse there are exceptions, but with all those sci heavy escorts you basically do not lack any science CC power in those escorts AND have firepower.
in a game where 99% of the space combat content is based around dealing dmg as much as possible, bringing an argument that this is the "tacs job" is nonsense when you can have both by selecting a different ship than sci vessel.

Depends on what you want to do: for serious PVP there are 3 choices (vesta, wells, fleet nova)
for PVE where you want to be more than just a spectator go hybrid (sci heavy escort)
for having "fun" and playing star trek barbie and ken, and then coming to the forum and saying "I'm doing O.K" any ship you like is fine.
don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with star trek online barbie mode, since the game is designed for that, but coming to the forum and asking which ship would be best for it makes no sense.

I will echo the suggestion for the Vesta, plus if you have a Tactical and an Engineer character, they'll be able to use it if you buy the bundle, which is an awesome investment, in my opinion.

my response on page one:
don't feel obligated simply because you have a sciene captain to get a science ship. you get basically no synergy out of this combination and to have an effective build you need considerable knowledge about ship building.
it is a sad fact, that the other 2 classes have better synergy with science ships.
however if you are determend to get a science ship i'd suggest the vesta, though you should look into the option of getting a science heavy escort, like the temporal destroyer, breen cruiser, basically anything with 3 or more science boff ability slots.

This is 100% true. Setting aside what ever you may find fun, the abilities of a science captain provide a far greater advantage to escorts then any other ship type.
Now cryptic misrepresent the classes in STO a fair bit. They certainly promote escorts for tacs, science ships for science characters and cruisers for engineers. But the only difference between the captains in space is a different set of 5 captain abilities and a couple of unique traits.
So to decide which ship type a captain can get the most use out of all we have to do is look at their captain abilities and work out how we could exploit them with each ship.
Since making his post a number of people jumped on Baudi's assertion and forced him to defend it. I think he can be forgiven for getting a little defensive given that defending his position was exactly what he was doing.
Now I myself use a science captain whom I enjoy playing with more then tactical or engineering captains. And I fly every ship type with him very successfully, be it an escort, science ship or cruiser.
I enjoy science ships most, cruisers least and find I am most effective in escorts. Like yourself I fly for fun. But I do concern myself with efficiency as well, and the truth is that while my science captain can easily solo elite content in anything it is far easier to do so in escorts then anything else.
dude, myself i have 2 science captains which i love to fly...i just said that there is not much use to flying a science ship with a science captain in current PVE content. And with the option of carriers and ships like the vesta, normal sci ships just don't cut it anymore and need a buff.
Since the game is too dmg focused the sci-sci combo lacks significantly.

in my opinion the biggest drawback of a sci vessel are the lack of 2 weapon slots, for which i see no reason. They could take away the target subsystem things, which are worthless anyway and give all sci ships atleast a rear weapon slot.
i mean the fact that target subsystems can't even be used with cannons is already an indicator, that soemthing is majorly wrong with this class of ship.
I can agree but sci has is usefulness in some areas like they bring all the enemy's together and toss in some other ability's ... Like gravity well to bring the enemy's together while the tac shoot em down in groups like in No win I see good sci captain pulling groups together with sci ship and keeping the ship alive... And I seen good vesta players as well ... its just different depends on how you use it... however I use a sci ship I never found my selfs in spot were I could say I am not good at what I fly
Yep I agree but just to pop in and tell some one play this and this is not cool rofl... Just point out your reasons and why they don't like it much and what they think ... that's cool not every one likes the same thing not every one likes flying escorts ... I fly my scimitar instead of escort why because I like the ship ..I like the vesta and atox .. Not many like the same ships that's call Varity in different players.. How ever I play fine I do stfs just fine I never found self lacking behind on anything. Sure I don't get high dps but that's not what I go for if I wanted dps I play my rommy tac scimitar were I get big numbers.... if you like escorts that nice I like vesta and big ships for my sci toon... Plus it costly to retrait all the time since it cost zenny this is why I want only sci toon in sci ships I tried escorts I am not getting anything like Varity instead I am getting dps which very boring ... How ever if I go atox I could put some elite scorpions fighters and some other ability's to help dps
I know sci lacks damage that's a tacs job.... just like every other class each good with there role.. I Don't really care much about how sci does because I play fine with sci in sfts .. my role is support damage I don't do a lot of damage but that's not my goal... my play style is more vesta and carrier type and let my fighters do the damage :O...Again this form is not about tacs its about sci ships .. if you think sci lacks damage that's good for you ... I like sci I love the classs and the ships if I wanted do damage I play tac same with engineer each has different ability's.. I just play 3 classes since cryptic put zenny on respecting I am not wasting my time with respecting sci toon into sci dps plus that play style don't fit me well I like sci to be in sci ships... I will do fine I play sci in stfs I never had a complaint about my role .. I have not seen any one complain to me sci sucks you suck as sci get out the stf.... I play fine depends on the player good player make good captain and I am having a lot of fun doing that...:cool:
fact is, you can have "fun" in any combo you want...does that mean the 3 classes and 3 ship types are balanced? certainly not.
sci ships in general lack behind escorts and certain cruisers...carriers not so much, and the vesta stands for itself.
the science class (the captain) lacks in PVE, only because the content is geared towards max dmg for max efficency...if neither is a concern to the player, those facts do not matter.
next misconception is that people feel obligated to fly sci vessels with their science captain, which is probably the worst thing you can do for the PVE content of this game, since everything becomes more difficult and time consuming...again if this is intended by the player, go for it.
i just know it is a selfinflicted constriction that often results in frustration over class and ship, and that doesn't need to be.
in my experiance people that switch to escorts with their sci toons are happier people. Ofcourse there are exceptions, but with all those sci heavy escorts you basically do not lack any science CC power in those escorts AND have firepower.
in a game where 99% of the space combat content is based around dealing dmg as much as possible, bringing an argument that this is the "tacs job" is nonsense when you can have both by selecting a different ship than sci vessel.
To answer your initial question: "are there any good sci ships for feds?"
Depends on what you want to do: for serious PVP there are 3 choices (vesta, wells, fleet nova)
for PVE where you want to be more than just a spectator go hybrid (sci heavy escort)
for having "fun" and playing star trek barbie and ken, and then coming to the forum and saying "I'm doing O.K" any ship you like is fine.
don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with star trek online barbie mode, since the game is designed for that, but coming to the forum and asking which ship would be best for it makes no sense.

If "fun" is your only criteria, any ship of any tier is "good" since people have "fun" with every ship.

Hi i just raised a sci fed almost 50.. i want the vesta class .. Any body got tips whats nice sci ship thanks This is what I post am I asking for facts no.... just good ship for sci ...So how am I debating tell me does that look like something I like to fight over
I will echo the suggestion for the Vesta, plus if you have a Tactical and an Engineer character, they'll be able to use it if you buy the bundle, which is an awesome investment, in my opinion.

I like varity of ships not one ship if I one ship I like the scimitar then I stick to it but sadly thanks to the way romulans are make I cant use my scimitar on my feds..i love my scimitar I cant use it on feds I don't have a nice ship for feds to use so I am asking..
