So far this ship doesn't seam to be too bad. I don't know how it does in PVP, but in the PVE game play its ability to cloak and use a lot of cannons and forward weapons with tons of buffage and console space and its larger amount of bridge officer stations really allows it to do a lot of incredible game play. So far a number of players I know are switching to it as a superior ship to use.

I myself am planning to switch over to it as well....since it makes most of the other tactical ships obsolete.....it certainly flys better then most of my Klingon character's ships...which is a bit of bummer....but oh well.....Klingon empire is kind of becoming the old mothball fleet in this game.....as in...they are becoming the ancient warriors who may have been something a while back...but now are a bunch of has beens.

The sad thing is....that more ancient races even have better equipment and ships then Klingons.

Federation and Romulans seam to be the only ones staying ahead of the curve.

In fact I am not sure how a war could have broken out with the Klingons anywise.....its like the federation with the superior technology would have wiped the floor with them already.

Power without Perception is Spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.

    =^_^=

Obviously most other ppl would fly a steamy dunghill if it had better stats than most other ships, lol. So i think Cryptics devs have to be reminded that there are still some ppl that don't want every appalling ship design they release, no matter how good it performs or how OP it is.

Unless its the players, the ship sucks in kerrat. KDF keeps blowing them up.

So I own the Avenger and Fleet Avenger on Rylana now.

I took my DNT Omega X escort cannon build (except its 4DHCs + 1DBB fore on the Avenger) and threw it on the Avenger

    Lt Tactical - TT1/CSV1
    LTComm Tactical - TT1/CSV1/APO1
    Ensign Tact - BO1
    Comm Engy - EPtS1/RSP1/DEM2/RSP3
    Lt Sci - TSS1/HE2

Same equipment with the consoles moved around (exchange one mag reg for the avengers special console)

It did over 13k DPS in an infected run.

This ship.... hits like a freight train in PvE, and a beam build is going to be even crazier.

PvP its a little more dicey and it needs vetted better still, but PvE wise you simply cannot go wrong with this ship.

The team buffs are amazing when stacked together (a fleetmate was running the shield one, me the weapon power one)

My feedback is thank you cryptic for giving us at least one ship thats on par with its romulan counterpart. This thing IMO is as powerful as the scimitar is.

That's an interesting build with some serious Borg stomping potential. I would consider adding Aux2Batt in one of your eng slots if you have blue or better technician doffs.

I can see the ship being a fine beam boat. If I owned one, I would throw on a set of fleet advanced Andorian beam arrays dmgx2 accx2, one dbb to give those big cannon ports up front something to do, wide angle quantum up front, and maybe tractor or web mines in back for pvp, quantum or tricobalt for STFs.

I run a similar build on my Avenger as well:

    Lt Tactical - TT1/CSV1
    LTComm Tactical - TT1/CSV1/APO1
    Ensign Tact - HY1
    Comm Engy - EPtS1/EPtS2/RSP2/EWP3
    Lt Sci - HE1/HE2

Though I am considering changing HE1 to TSS1 and EPtS1 to ATB1 for the technician proc....

Hello Brandon. Just popping in again. You didn't really answer me from my last question before.
    blagorm wrote: »
... It just that I saw nothing was really said on the KDF part. And still in the end, I am very confused on why it was said the KDF ship was delayed because of Voth but a new FED ship was not delayed because of Voth, at least by what we see here.

It is not that I want to know when it will be released, I want to know why it wasn't since the reason given to the KDF does not hold the same for the FED.

Please Brandon, if you have a reason, I will accept it. Sure, disappointment will most likely come, but I would feel better if this was explained more.

    Kind Regards,

    Aki ~

Also, with that in mind, how will you match this with the new KDF ship coming out, seeming this ship has a console that is interchangeable with the Cruiser skills, and can use other "ship specific consoles." Also, will we be seeing Science Ships, and even Tactical Ships have different modes of their own? Will those ships have special consoles to go along like that as well?

Please Brandon, I would appreciate the info.

    Kind Regards,

    Aki ~

P.S. Answering will be nice. Don't make me feel like the KDF is being ignored again, for I am trying my hardest to find common ground here. Yes, this IS a Federation ship, but the KDF still exists on the sidelines, and now being that the Scitimar and Avenger are the top class ships, and the KDF ships are not either new, updated, nor level with others. (Depending on Build and Skill CAN Vary Sucsess, But As of Now It Is as Is)

Please, it will be highly appreciative.

They'll match it with an IOU dated for the 32nd of January, a day that (in english) doesn't end in 'y'.

There will, of course, be multitudes of excuses made, because nobody knows enough of the root code for the game to just get rid of the faction-hence why there are no new PvP maps and Ker'rat is still bugged all to hell.

just do what the Devs want, retire your KDF into contraband generators, roll a fed-aligned Romulan-you'll get everything the KDF has in terms of abilities and advantages, cheaper, with better technical support and an actual release schedule that isn't "we're delaying it again."

P.S. The first time I asked this I got a response (WAY off topic)

"We have a KDF ship in the makings, I just can't give you a certain date yet

    Cheers!"

(Note, I paraphrased but it is mostly as it was said)

Brandon, why are you being quiet? Please, as the community manager, at least answer my question I asked before the proper way. I didn't ask when, I asked why.

Cryptic has already stated the next KDF ship will be out after Season 8 and that it's not completed yet - work was stopped on it to finish the Voth ships. They don't know all the specifics about specs or Consoles at this point. What more information do you think they can give you?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

You have no idea when the Avenger was completed. The Ambassador sat in a file for nearly a year before it was finally released to us in the temporal event. The Avenger could have been finished months ago. The Merian license was negotiated with Mark the same time the Vesta was and that ship's still not in the game over a year later. We saw pics of the Galaxy X with Saucer Sep more then a year ago, still not in the game.

Just because something is being sold today doesn't mean they just finished the model yesterday.

Then my question would be why wasn't KDF ships put in the time back in that time?

Because the KDF ship wasn't done earlier, and it's still not done.

At any given time Cryptic probably has a dozen ships in different stages of development. Some complete, some almost complete, some in just in basic design stage waiting for CBS to approve them, and so on. I mean look at each Lockbox alone. You get anywhere from 2 to 4 new ships in a Lockbox. They all need to be done at the same time, but that doesn't mean they're all being worked on at the same time.

You need to stop thinking linearly. Cryptic is ramping up Season 8, finishing the LoR stuff in prep for Season 8, planning Season 9, sketching out ideas for another Expansion Pack, etc. They're not just working on one thing at a time.

The Avenger's the same basic size of the Excelsior - which is why it has a good Turn and Inertia. In the Federation bigger means slower.

And I don't think it's easy to smash to pieces by anyone. :)

Ehh... It is far from the tankiest Cruiser out there. The C-Store version is actually a touch flimsy compared to its competition. The Fleet One is notably better but still is not the toughest by a long way.

I am glad there is another big target for my Bortasqu' to play with. Always preferred big toys. They are a lot more fun than those pesky little ships that zip all over the place. :D

So, you are saying it took 2 years + to get basic design and half ready, and around 4 or 5 lock-boxes and 5-10 Federation ships to make 1 KDF one that will be here by the time the newest C-Store ship in 3 years?

Disclamier: Time was so long ago, forgot true date of last KDF C-Store Ship.

basically yes, we know they didn't start thinking about redoing the fed tutorial till after LoR was released from interviews. consider for a moment how many lovkbox ships, from ships, fed ships have been released since F2P.
KDF ships - Kamarang, bortas, Qaw'Dun, and the old B'rel seems like they have no problem cranking out ships when they want too. How long do you think it took then to produce the Ar'kif models post LoR? kdf fleet ships were basically given a skin and that's it, so yes I don't think the Avenger has been cooking that long.

p.s. I hate auto-correct but you get the gist.

As a new KDF player, after playing Fed and Romulan aligned Fed, I certainly hope that the KDF does in fact get some attention ship wise, from the developers.

I see a very easy way to do this, that would not take months or a year to develop.

First off, it should (must) be based on the classic K'Tinga design. The very definition of a Klingon cruiser. So, use the sleek skin option from the fleet K'Tinga retrofit, and simply give it the console and weapons fitment from the Avenger, adjusted for Klingon weapons of course, and bingo, there you have it.

None of that overdone hull texture and bulky looking appendages of the current mess that the KDF has to fly, but a sleek, deadly looking space weapon, fit for a warrior.

I really enjoy playing my Klingon character, but when I switch back to one of my Feds, I see just how easy the Feds and their allies have it.

Come on Branflakes, throw us KDF guys a bone and give us a true Klingon Battle Cruiser.

In my opinion the new Avenger Class ship is just o.k. I was thinking since the neck design is similar to the Odyssey Class ships, you should get an extended slipstream time- makes sense right- since that is the reason they give for extended slipstream time on the Odyssey class ships.

The one science console on the non fleet version is to weak to make any real amount of difference, making shield power and regeneration way to weak to sustain any real punishment. I know the new exotic powers help, but you have to click the regeneration on the shield power for the Avenger in battle as soon as cool down is achieved every 5 or 10 seconds or so and its more of a pain than a help.

For a battle ship you figure the shields and science stations would be at least comparable to a real battle cruiser...even the tac escort has 2 science consoles after all, and that is not even classified as a warship/battleship.

    1 out of 10 I give the Avenger a solid 5.

    What do you guys think?

    What do you guys think?

I agree that this ship is a bit squishy for a cruiser. 1 sci console is not an issue to me since It seems to work fine on the Bug ship.

When I look at the fleet battle cruiser, the stats are almost the same as the fleet assault cruiser refit. The shield modifier, console layout, impulse modifier is the same and boff layout is similar. What you get in exchange is 2 degree turn rate and 20 more inertia.

The weapons layout is reconfigured to be 5 fore to utilize cannons better but beams still seem more effective and if you are broadsiding there is no difference. Yes it has 3 cruiser abilities but all the other cruisers will be retrofitted with them. The regent will most likely have 4.

You also loose a device slot. It is a shame considering how maneuverable it is. If you have the rmc, deuterium tank and subspace field modulator there is no room for a battery.

On the character I'm Using this battle cruiser on was previously using the gal-x. Even though that ship had less hull it had a larger crew and a lt cmdr engineering slot. that ship felt tankier.

What I would like to see is for them to add a bit more crew or (less likely) remove the ensign tactical boff and make the lt universal a lt comander engineer. This however will reduce the crit potential from romulan boffs which is why in my post a little bit earlier, I only asked for more crew.

Visually this ships gave me an initial reaction of meh. But once I was in the ship customization screen I grew to a appreciate it and as I started to fly it is kept growing. At this point I love the boxy deflector. The large reinforced neck made me wish it had an enhanced ramming speed where it gave a huge damage resistance when using it. Wish it had a 3rd nacelle option.

In the end, if you have a fleet assault cruiser refit then you do not need this ship. If you are like me and loved the gal-x but are tired of waiting for the new version with saucer sep, then this is a good ship to use in the mean time.

I know it has been said before but the Avenger is ugly and I don't buy the excuse that it was an attempt to make it look like more of a 'gunship' and in all seriousness in terms of aesthetics it is ugly pile with the Regent and Venture. Just because it is supposed to look like a gunship doesn't mean the lines have to be sacrificed, look at the warship Voyager from the episode 'Living Witness' which was turned into a gunboat. Voyager was essentially bristling with weapons and still managed to keep much of its 'elegant' design intact. While I do not mind the saucer section and think that the nacelles are awesome, while the primary hull(including the main offender which is the deflector), pylons and neck need redesign. Looking at it from an angle, one can plainly see that it looks like it has just been piece together because there is no flow to the look and don't compliment each other in style. The pylons, the hull and the neck of the ship clash in terms flow, because of the neck it looks like the hull and pylons are just begging to be swept back and thus wants to go against the 'gunship' look that the designer was going for.
