Why does Cryptic always feel they need to overpopulate mission maps with so many entities when the game clearly cannot handle so much activity on a single map? What has been your experience like with these types of missions? How well can you make out everything that's happening on a highly populated map? Do you like them? Do you hate them? Do you want a lot of dumb targets to destroy, or do you want fewer but more intelligent and strong enemies?
when the game clearly cannot handle so much activity
Incorrect.
"When my computer clearly cannot handle so much activity" would be correct. The game stutters at points, I never once had a visible fps drop on my tower, But on my laptop i do (Especially during CEE) Because it simply isn't powerfull enough for that mission, Despite the fact the rest of the game runs fine.
Easiest fix to this is to simply lower your games quality when playing CEE, if the performance is tolerable for you.
The amount of trash in raids, etc has always been held by a few WOW raids, but the CEE elite beats it by a long shot. wow so many.....
If they came in waves then that would be better but you just get overwhelmed. There is no real strategy except try to get one person to engage them and then kite them away from the CE.

I will call you out, fraps a CEE elite with fps being monitored and lets see........ I am pretty sure YOUR rig will dip in fps there and I bet other areas....
Just get a couple of Eng FAWscorts to kite the couple of hundred ships off to the side. As long as you've got the requisite Sci for the GWs and SNBs...it's business as usual.
edit: Considering you can get the shard from Regular, if one's just doing the event - one can skip the spamfest of Elite.
I have done 2 CEE elite and both times we lost people, 2 on the first and one on the second. Not sure if they got frustrated or something else. Still able to finish it both times though.
The problem is that the Tyken's Rifts don't despawn and therefore, Mirror Ships spawn without stop flooding the whole map unneccessarily.
I had a match where there were about 100+ Mirror Ships + Shards and even my High End Computer couldn't handle the spam. I understand that you guys want to make it more variable but this is a step too far. The spam of Mirror ships is totaly out of space. You literally kill the game with this.
Getting back to the main question of the thread rather than the details, I prefer harder enemies that make use of skills and impede my progress killing them.

Pro tip : Read my post properly.
I said "Visible"
Sure, i bet there IS a fps drop. In every game the FPS will fluctuate depending on how graphically demanding that game environment is at any particular...
However, It's never been visible, or dropped to the extent that i've noticed it whilst playing the game.
My point still stands, OP needs to turn down his graphical settings
Cryptic can't think of ways to make things more challenging except throwing more NPCs our way. And I'm sick of this lack of creativity on their end.
I could not agree more. This was a horrible way of going about it.
Personally, my LEAST favorite PvEs are the one where SWARMS of ships fly in to the slaughter. It's just stupid and bores me to death. [excluding NWS where some strategy is needed]

So realistically, you only need to have the exact number of doffs that you need. ~leadme2kirk
You never see a problem. Clearly, others do. Do you really need to chime in on every single thread with your 'deal-wif-it' posts?
Oh when i see problems I am quite vocal about them, or havent you seen some of my posts directed at borticus on tribble?
The thing here is players are committing suicide by spamming aoes all over the place and expecting to somehow live through it.
My a2b bfaw cruiser suffered the same fate, until i stopped using bfaw. Once I did that, easy mode, because it was 1v1 with the entity, everything else left me pretty much alone.
The reason why people keep spamming to stop shooting the mirrors, is because thats is whats getting everyone fricken killed.

Fair enough. But the point is you can't count on more than one team "doing what they're supposed to"; or have you forgotten the old "torps/mines/anything but energy regens the CE" days?
Just to make sure it's clear, the new Anomaly mechanics are ONLY for the limited-time event version of CE, "Crystalline Cataclysm". The normal incarnation, "Crystalline Catastrophe", will return once this 3-week event is over.

most definately...i think that there are too many "dumb" targets already anyway.
feels more like star wars when you plow through 20+ ships by "accident"
star trek was allways 1vs1 ships...

Meh...I kind of like the changes - it just creates problems for PUGs that might not have the "standard" comp that tends to make Catastrophe too easy. Where they might have issues with Catastrophe, they're far more likely to have issues with Cataclysm. That difference between having 2-3 Sci or not sort of thing.
Cataclysm though, heh - you have those 2-3 Sci, have a couple of aggrohappy FAW Eng that can pull all the Mirror guys away from the Entity...and it's kind of blast. If you end up there with 10 Tacs and some of them go FAW happy...and it's kind of offering a few expletives to the screen.
yeah, 200vs200 or so ships clashing into each other
but sto feels like 200vs5...and after 5 minutes all is over and the 5 ships warp out as if nothing ever happened.

You have not played CEE yet.

Better question is Why did you change it AT ALL?

I must not have. I'm not even sure what it is.
Using abbreviations is okay, if the abbreviated versions has already been referenced. Otherwise it's just lazy posting.
Don't worry. My system can handle an abundance of letters.
Cause CCE was a cakewalk. It needed something. Not necessarily this, but it needed something.
Quality, I'm tired of Quantity!

I dont see a problem here.

When you have between 100 to 150 mirror ships spawn in via the rifts in a NORMAL? .... THAT is OVERKILL and a PROBLEM.
Sidenote ... Curious question. Did Borticus play with this? ... I know he's been looking at Gravity Wells and such lately.
