OMG what happen to PESTF channel

Hi all, if you have been following the PublicEliteSTF channel over the last few weeks you will have noticed a drastic change in the way players have been conducting themselves. From the typical chatter bugs to the trolls and name callers to the, well lets just say dirty minded, have all changed the function of the channel. Use to be you needed a stf run you just go to channel and have your choice of multiple teams to join but as of late, you are now faced with others points of views, who belongs in channel or not and other topics of non interest. During the day light hours (EST) its still not bad for getting in the stfs runs you want but after the midnight hour it totally changes. You have to wade thru countless topics of chat waiting for just 1 or 2 teams to form. Everyone says just use the ignore option but that don't help with the formations of teams, making it a slower process for which the channel was not set up for. Personally I would like to see some channel admin. do their job and enforce some the basic rules that were set up to make this channel enjoyable but that's just me. Would love to hear your opinions and suggestions to correct this before the channel goes totally to TRIBBLE! Thanks all.

Beacuse most people dont setup multiple chat tabs, and trolls feel the need to troll WHEREVER possible, they cant feel good about themselves unless they can ruin things for everyone.

I don't know what you're talking about. I get teamed up all the time, one STF after the other on five toons. ALL THE TIME.

Occasional trolling, name calling and bullying? Yes. Enough to go "ZOMG! CAN'T STAND THIS ANYMORE! I'M OUT!"? No. Definitely no.

Also, don't wait for someone else to create a match. Create your own and you'll make a team in no time.

I actually noticed that last night. I haven't been playing much since my daughter was born in Jan, mostly 15 minutes here and there. Last night, I actually had some extended time and wanted to run some quick stf's to fill out my film refining cap, but was shocked how long it took to find a team to run. I think it was actually busier than zone chat w/ non-STF or non-STO talk. Bummer.

You know this handle very well, it's the "certain female player" that you all love and loathe so very much.

So um, what I don't get is, why people don't get that PublicEliteSTF was created to be the opposite of EliteSTF. Essentially, we are the Romulus to EliteSTF's Vulcan. Which means yes, we can talk about "off-topic" subjects. For those who cannot get matches going because of this chat, it's not my fault your eyes can't track the chat fast enough to pick out your own invite words. Maybe get bigger ones than CLU and xx and Armek, you know, something that jumps out at you? Because I can have an in-depth discussion in three different channels and still form, and launch a match.

-inb4 'wat, u can still get games goin?'- Indeed, contrary to popular belief, not everyone hates Astarte.

Regardless, as Zyro said, he can't ban free will. I exercise that free will every time I become the embodiment of the other side of life that so many of you refuse to realize - that which lies away from your computer. You know, that one place....ehm....what's it called....OH! "Outside". And I do so every time I bring up something that isn't STF- or even Star Trek-related.

Also, MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online = Multiplayer = Other people = Chatting with other people = YES, PESTF IS A CHAT ROOM. It's been a chat room since the very moment it was created. Hence why it's a room you can chat into. And I chat about whatever I feel like. God forbid there be more to my life than STFs, and God forbid I don't care if you cannot say the same.

Those of you who do not like it, or me, that's what the ignore button is for. Why so few of you use it, I don't know. Why so few of you use it only after a two-hour rage session - thereby adding to the very channel disruption you're all complaining about - I don't know. Why so few of you have twisted logic: "I refuse to block Astarte because that's what she wants, and I'm not going to give in to her expectations, so I'm just going to make thinly-veiled jabs at her whenever someone brings her up", I don't know.

But either way, the pro-Astarte faction is just as stubborn as the anti-Astarte group. Haters make me famous, and I love each and every one of you for it. But neither side is going anywhere, especially not me. You don't fire your resident celebrity, you see. So, as always, either pipe down and deal with me, or put me on your ignore list, then pipe down.

Regardless, there's still some piping down to be done.

...eh...people bag on ESTF channel, but they do what they say, the mods keep the jaw jacking under control - yeah maybe the mods need to relax a tiny bit, but hey proof is in the pudding......on a side note: ESTF seems to be alive enough, but hey that's just me....

...whereas the PESTF channel?.....I have noticed a shift (to be honest I seem to have some of the people on ignore so I don't see all of it)....the mods don't enforce as hard - so as a consequence you will get the "randomness"....

So you appear to have a choice: One channel is serious in their enforcement of "STF Only", and another channel that is more free. Both have their pro's and con's depending on what you want....'course there are other channels but that's another topic....

I have noticed several people over the last few weeks have tried to start their own channels, both on the forums and advertising directly in game; I do not know enough to intelligently comment on whether the channels were successful or not.....

Thats why I like EliteSTF. Certainly, PESTF has about twice as many people; last time I compared, 500ish during my playing hours vs 250ish for EliteSTF. And the EliteSTF mods can be a little uptight (though really, those people that throw a huge tantrum and invoke Godwin's Law over what word they use for game callouts...), but it isn't hard to get along. On the other hand the players in EliteSTF behave with so much more professionalism and maturity. More than simply getting the optionals, the entire mission will be cleanly executed with minimal fuss, and even when such efficiency is unnecessary, they still stick to it rather than getting stupidly 'creative' and making things needlessly complicated. PESTF though, sometimes the group will be about the same as if I'd just used the queues, to say nothing of all the pointless chatter.

So a few uptight mods and a smaller base but games that almost always go well, vs a chaotic grab-bag of loudmouths and unpredictable gameplay. Easy choice for me.

In my experience ESTF just seems 'dead' because people don't speak unless they're looking (or answering) for an STF, for fear of the banhammer. PESTF seems 50/50 as to whether it's just random conversation or someone actually looking for an STF (similar in a way to Doffjobs which is now basically a free-for-all chat channel, but there are so many members that any questions (doff related or not) are quickly answered). Both channels' STFs are usually flawless.

Take your pick: idle banter until STFs are formed, or quiet until STFs are formed.

Made simple comment in the channel to not be chatter bug, not even directed at you, yet you PM me screaming in all caps, your type is the exact problem Im talking bout, your rude and offensive to others.

First,
plz keep in mind this is a public channel, while it has an owner/mod, it is public....these are some of just the simple growing pains of such.

Secnd,
alot of the smaller 'private' channels that i subscribe to struggle....and not to find good players, but due to the REAL diversity of the Grind....not everyone has time to bust out an hour of STF....they need Fleet Marks/Dilithium/Rep Marks/....whoa..even maybe accolade hunt...or try to get the new event ship...

doesn't matter, with the grind split into so many different flavors of pie...you have to go where the volume is if you are going to keep hammering STF as you have in the past, this is the new reality.

That volume is going to lead to discussion, personalities, opinions...etc...that might not fit your style, but as a poster before me put....make a game, set a word, and go...if ya have to put it in caps to see it...so be it.

Better to have a match running then sitting waiting for the color text of your favorite 5 ppl/channels to run with come up.

the ignore button is your friend, use it or don't but don't pass then complain that you didn't...not only do you not have to deal with said person/s you don't ever have to team with them...

just some honest midland thoughts...channels have to grow to keep the queues moving, even the private ones, too many really good private channels have gone quiet...and good players have either left or lost interest, due to time constraint or too many things to accomplish that teaming becomes difficult to keep personal, and that's STO's real loss, the lost of those friends that you can only catch from time to time, and now, your stuck not seeing them due to, playing fleet catch up, rep catch up, dilith catch up, etc etc....everyone is at their own agenda.

I think i can chime in here....

as per the channel rules chat is allowed.... if you're looking for a game.... announce with LFM + your invite... if theres no game running create one... they dont create themselves im afraid... the channel relies on people to create games... they dont appear out of no where. if chat is active. USE CAPS... spam your invite... thats how its done. we're grinding stfs people the chat can help break the tedium.

personally, forget im channel owner i use the channel myself, while i love dps5k etc still sometimes its quicker getting a game on PESTF. its a numbers game.

the more number of people we have on the more chance of chat, so its always gunna be busy and bustling... THATS THE IDEA...

I've never missed an invite cause of chat.... and remember i have NO ONE on ignore (i mute =D ) so I see it all... plus im watching 17 other channels all in the one 4 inch box...

so I'm afraid reports of over zealous chat being a hinderence to seeing games... is a mute point (see what i did there ) I'm more inclinded to believe people hanging around waiting on others to create and then have a bit of a moan when theres none...

as for astarte.... sigh... lols. as our resident friendly neighbourhood troll she's/he's part of the wood work at this stage... muting astarte would be kinda like muting zyro(i kick him often enough but he always finds his way back in...) or sharpe.

and as trolls go she's realatively tame... as ever if someone is not to your taste we highly recommend the IGNORE button.... I'm not about to start muting people on the back of a witch hunt or just cause its made it to the forums.... where does the buck stop...muting these days is permamute cause of the mute bug... so I'm reserving it on a public channel for the real bad guys.
shes not abusive on channel... what happens in pm's is between you guys and the GM.

as with any member of the channel if however you do encounter seriously abusive players mail link shortened screens to @wildchild8 and it gets handled. and by serious abuse i mean racism homeophobia, big arguements or blow ups. petty banter and chat does not a muteable offence make... such is life, if someones not to your taste ignore them. its silly not ignoring them if you're not a fan... kinda like a self inflicted game of "stop hitting yourself"

now let that be that... here endth the lesson

PS without getting into the ESTF debate... someone else mentioned earlier and I resonate the point, the two channels are run different... but both equaly as good, different strokes for different folks... I used ESTF myself extensively till it was run into the ground and i wish it all the best in its recovery if its not too late. Quality wise we the same... guys pool from both channels... and the fact the big dps guys and PVP run in PESTF maybe gives us the edge (with big dps comes big ego's, and we all know the OPVPers are loooooong kicked from ESTF lols)

while I can appreciate you're love for ........, I can say without a doubt, that Hive players can bury ya, not because we're looking for a quick run....but because we ARE the run. so

i don't mind the chatter for time, to time, the bees do buzz, however, Cryptic's Grind Smoke, has made some bees sleep. There are some who carry a sting....and I for one don't mind showing those colors with others in PEliteStf, because most of the chatter is builds and load outs....little off topic from time to time, ...sure...games running almost constantly? Yep, except late on the weekday mornings 5-6 cdt.

I like filler chat that is related to the grind, but not when people start filling the chat with discussion of their latest trip to the bars or their most recent piercings, that stuff is just noise. Get a fanclub channel for that TRIBBLE.

You should chime into your channel and you will see as of late its mostly just fighting and arguing and not really small conversation that's occurring, that's the whole reason I made the post in the first place yet everyone seams to divert the topic to finding teams, If you don't even use your own channel and hang out in others channels well that says something right there. I wanted to know what happen to the admins was an other point I mentioned but obviously they re hanging out in others channels as well while PESTF goes to the dogs.

with the unfolding of recent events, I have decided to part ways with the channel. frankly, i'd rather deal with the public queues than some of the TRIBBLE I had to deal with there. best of luck to wild, who has always been just, and to the rest of the channel.
